Native American Argumentative Essay Native Americans just like many other races have been cheated out of fairness. They are U.S. citizens but are treated like they are immigrants. Many think that because they are citizens of their tribal nations, that they are not a part of the U.S. Native Americans have been a big debate topic for many years. They are treated unfairly and often neglected of things that are rightfully theirs. In this essay, I will argue that Native Americans deserve the following rights: Voting Rights, Human Rights, and rights to native land. Under United States laws, the Government classifies Native American under the domestic dependent nations. Which is how the government explains their relationship with everyone (Federal, Tribal and state governments). This goes along with Tribal Sovereignty. Tribes receive money, property or even titles being a part of indigenous tribes. Indigenous tribes have power to control themselves. They make the laws and other choices for their people. Even though they do make their own laws and choices, they still have to meet U.S. guidelines. Human Rights Being classified as domestic dependent nations defines the relationship between the United States and the tribes. The native people and many others, fought for them not to do construction on the access pipeline. This protest started around early 2016. The people were fighting to protect what was theirs. They were fighting for their land and water. Also, fighting for something some much more than that, something that had special meaning to them. The natives were fighting for religious and spiritual sites that exist in North Dakota. They felt these sites were connected with god and indigenous people of the Americas.
