I honestly can say I didn't know that January is National Stalking month. Stalking is a very serious matter that people need to be made aware of in addition to other things. I feel it is a topic that should be discussed and help people to become aware of it. Alot of people are being are stalked and have no clue what to do about it. The people that do understand stalking need to be made aware of the consequences and what to do about it. According to the CDC's National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey (NISVS),1 in 6 women and 1 in 19 men have been stalked during their lifetime ("Stalking").
Stalking is when someone harasses or make threats to someone over and over again. An example of this would be showing up at a persons home or
Sullivan, J. (2011, August 18). Stalker for 17 years — since 8th grade — faces long prison term. The Seattle Times. Retrieved from http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/2015951550_stalker19m.html
When they feel rejected they can become extremely violent towards whoever they feel rejected them. Celebrities need to be made aware of how to handle stalkers, so that when they are faced with the problem they can deal with it properly. A forensic science graduate states, "Risk management strategies for this type should emphasize the need for professional protection of the target despite the low frequency risk of violence, since the injury is likely to be more serious if violence does occur …" (Mohandie). Many celebrities won't go to the police to report stalkers because they do not believe it is a real problem. This does not help them get the stalker to go away. When celebrities learn about how to deal with stalkers they are more likely to report the problem to the
Stalking is a very dangerous form of violence and is more common than people think. As a society we have many different ideas of what the definition of stalking is. There are many different forms of stalking, sure some of them may seem harmless but it is difficult to differentiate harmful situations and acts from harmless situations and acts. The main thing that makes it stalking is it is a form of abuse is that it is unwanted by the victim. Before the paper starts it is going to define stalking, a little history, and some of its forms.
As said in the text, the definition of stalking behaviors typically includes a pattern and threats. Who defines how often a behavior has to be to become a pattern and when does a statement become a threat? The problem is, for example, some behaviors use romantic gestures that seem innocent enough to a passerby. The victims of stalking know and recognize what the intent of a behavior is, yet to an outsider it looks harmless and the victims are sometimes not taken seriously. The chapter goes on to detail the types of stalkers. To name a few, simple obsessional is one who’s had a relationship of some kind with the victim, love obsessional is one who stalks a stranger, and erotomanic is more than likely a female who thinks the male victim is in love with her. The text also describes how different stalking can happen. With the technology today, cyberstalking and specific surveillance such as GPS tracking devices and tapping the victims phone, is simple, easy and leaves the victim unaware that anything is happening. Stalking victims typically are women and statistics show one third of female murder victims were also victims of
The Black History Month is a time when the children are taught about the inventions that were mostly done by the black pioneers. During this month, the children are taught on the most basic information regarding he black pioneers but the background information is not taught. Due to the shallowness of the lessons in this month, those taught concerning it carry very little significance of an individual such as Charles Drew having invented the blood plasma. This period is celebrated in the month of February and has been controversial for some time. Most individuals especially from the Black Americans argue that this month should not be celebrated. Award winning actor by the name of Morgan Freeman refers to the Black History Month as ‘ridiculous’. Bearing in mind the facts concerning the Black History Month, it should not be celebrated.
police then look for a suspect who might possibly have committed it. Profiling means that a suspect is discovered and the police then look for a crime for the person to have possibly committed” (Tator & Henry, 2003, p3).
Predators are psychopaths who take time to plan. Predatory violence involves a targeting strategy and a specific type of victim. A lot of through is put into predatory violence, hence premeditation.
It may also bring issues of anger as the sex offenders laws state that some of the rights of the person being denied in some states sex offenders cannot attend Halloween and even lose their parental rights this may do more harm or good to the person and give him an I don’t care attitude. However flipping the coin to the other side legislation has helped with the integration of the sex offenders as in most cases those who have registered rarely repeat their crime. For example in New York between 1985-2001 out of the registered 11898 only 251 were returned to jail for recidivism which is about 2.1% this shows that it works as the cases have
These crimes are usually some sort of invasion of another person or even their belongings. As Laurence Miller states, “there is a frequent association appears between serial homicide and two other crimes: burglary and rape”(Miller 4.2).These crimes that are committed relate to how serial killers attempt to dehumanize and violate people. These crimes are related to serial killers due to the fact that frequently these crimes escalate to a larger crime such as murder. Rape and burglary, both seem to violate a person 's rights and dehumanize them (Miller 4.2). Due to this criminal history, it can escalate to murder and then keep continuing. Gangs for example, they kill multiple people and nearly all members feel no remorse for the crimes they
Unlawful harassment includes conduct (both overt and subtle) that demeans another person or shows hostility toward an individual because of a protected characteristic. Examples of such conduct include, but are not limited to, teasing; unwelcome advances; leers;
“A series of two or more murders, committed as separate events, usually, but not always, by one offender acting alone. The crimes may occur over a period of time ranging from hours to years. Quite often the motive is psychological, and the offender’s behavior and the physical evidence observed at the crime scenes will reflect sadistic, sexual overtones.” Looking at this definition from the National Institutes of Justice makes me think of all previous and even potential victims of the serial killers that are very prominent in the United
The majority of stalkers have been in relationships with their victims, but significant percentages either never met their victims, or were just acquaintances - neighbors, friends or co-workers. I have broken down types of stalkers into three broad categories: Intimate partner stalkers, delusional stalkers and vengeful stalkers. Obviously, there is overlap.

Bullying does not have a standard definition. Bullying can be anything from calling someone else names, beating them up just for the fun of it, to texting or messaging them on the internet or any mobile device. Any person can be the victim of bullying, not just children. Bullying causes many issues, physically, emotionally, and mentally, not only for the victim, but for their entire families as well. Bullies have many different reasons as to why they start bullying someone else. The actions done to the victim leaves them with only a few options on how to stop being bullied. How they handle it is always different.
