The National Quality Strategy (NQS) is a publication first published in March 2011 and is developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (About the National Quality Strategy, 2017). The publication is a collective process that involves the help of many healthcare based organizations and groups that actively work on the complexities of healthcare and how to simplify them and help for providers and clinicians to achieve the highest degree of patient and consumer satisfaction (About the National Quality Strategy, 2017). This is the aim that focuses on improving the overall health of America by dealing with each individual community (About the National Quality Strategy, 2017). This aim allows the healthcare workers that serve certain areas to work on bettering the community they serve by promoting a healthier lifestyle, whether it be mentally, physically, socially, and environmentally. This allows for the community to come together to figure out how to fight the medical and healthcare issues that plague their communities. In some communities this can be obesity, smoking, diabetes, or drug use. Reducing the harm caused in the delivery of care is the priority which focuses on making patient care safer. The second priority is ensuring that each person is actively involved in their personal care.
