Being invited to apply for a membership in the Henry O. Holley chapter of the National Honors society is a privilege and an opportunity to be a part of such a significant group of people. For years now it has been my goal to become a member in the National Honors Society for many reasons. Taking leadership and improving my leadership skills is a large part of my life and I believe becoming a member of the National Honors Society would improve and refine my leadership skills. Also, becoming a part of this elite society of students and surrounding myself with these excellent people will enable me to become a better scholar, leader and an all-around person. and people with exceptional scholarship, character, leadership and service which is why I believe I would make an excellent fit. Ever since a very young age, discipline, respect and effort has been instilled in me which I show in and out of the class room. School is something I take very seriously and I complete my schoolwork with full effort and focus. My above average grades in school also come from my determination to get into college after high school. After high school I would like to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis which only accepts students with exceptional grades, high leadership skills and an ample amount of community involvement. My determination and effort in the classroom has helped me get the grades I do today. I currently have a 98-99% GPA which accurately shows my superb commitment to school and my future. Great character is another quality that I possess and show every day in and out of school.
Character is described as the mental and moral qualities of the individual. There are many examples that prove I have outstanding character. Throughout my whole high school career, I don’t have any detentions (Saturday or office) or any suspensions. Another quality that is essential to outstanding character is respect. In the classroom, respect for the teachers and others is one of my top priorities. Being kind and courteous to others no matter what the situation is just another example of good character and another reason I would be a great fit in the National Honor …show more content…
Society. From new members to veteran members, National Honors Society requires members to participate in a certain amount of community service. I personally participate in community service where ever and whenever I can because I believe it is crucial to repay the community. In my high school career I have a high amount of community service hours (over 60 hours) and have served many organization in and out of Monson. Some of the events I have been a volunteer at include Kev’s foundation blood drive, NE baseball camps, Christmas and Easter breakfasts, Monson HEARS drug and alcohol awareness, Monson boosters comedy show and concession stand, Trash pickups, Vietnam Veteran car show and many more. Community service is a very important priority to me and becoming a member in the National Honors Society would give me more opportunities to repay the community for all they have done for us. National Honors society requires many things of its members, such as character and service, but I believe one of the most important qualities a person can have is leadership.
Not only leadership inside of school but also outside of school in the community or at home. In school I hold the position of class president and it is something enjoy very much. Out of school, I was recently named Captain (with 2 other captains) of our Varsity Soccer team for my senior year. Last summer I was also selected to attend a youth leadership convention with one of my classmates at Springfield College with students from many different schools. From there, twelve students out of about one hundred and thirty students were chosen to attend the World Affairs seminar in Wisconsin and I was one of those twelve chosen. The seminar aims to shape our nation’s future leaders, which is something that interests me very much. John C. Maxwell once said, “a leader is one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way.” What he means by this is that leaders lead from the front, not the back and that couldn’t explain the National Honor Society any better. Leadership is something the National Honor Society prides itself upon, and being a leader to others is something that I also take much pride
in. In conclusion, becoming a member of the National Honor Society has been a goal for me since the first day I walked into the high school. It requires the most well rounded students with great leadership skills, character, scholarship and an abundance of community service. I have given my greatest effort to meet these standard and I look forward to the chance to potentially become a member of the National Honor Society.
Throughout the years of being a student at Council Rock, I have come to the realization of what a true leader is. A leader is not someone that just plans events, collects money, or shows up to meetings. Rather, this is someone that has a true connection with their peers, and has unmatched passion for what they do. With this, I can confidently say that since seventh grade, as a young adult, I have been shaped into an individual that fits these traits. Since that time, I have been involved in student government,

The National Honor Society upholds four pillars of excellence that all members attain; scholarship, service, leadership, and character. While these four ideals are present in all members I believe that I withhold these characteristics, as well as numerous others, which qualifies me as an ideal scholar and member of the National Honor Society. These assets are not adequately portrayed in my application, but are equally important to scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
Being a potential candidate of the National Honor Society is a distinction that I greatly honor. I wish to be a member of the prestigious group for the various benefits to myself, my school, and my community. A member of my family was a former member of the National Honor Society; he has mentioned many positive benefits of being a member and how being a member is beneficial to the community. Due to my exemplary qualities of a National Honor Society member, I am qualified to be part of the chapter.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I have grown up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
I am profoundly honored to be among the exceptional people who are being noticed for the National Honor Society. Being considered to join the National Honor Society is an honor in itself. It proves to me that I have accomplished my goals and worked to the best of my ability. In all my years as a student I have always tried to do the my best to get the highest grades. Being inducted into the National Honors Society is what I have been waiting for. Becoming a member is nothing more than a dream come true, and I appreciate it greatly. If I am to be chosen as a member I know that I will be a positive and dependable participant in society activities. Due to my abilities and past experiences, I can be considered a valuable candidate because I demonstrate the qualities of leadership, service, and character. I do feel that if I am chosen, I will do nothing detract from the prestige and respectability that is associated with the society.
Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. But I had an incredible set of adults guiding me along the way, who taught me that being a leader was not doing everything myself, being a leader
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
Leadership is trait that is extremely important in any society. Leadership is known as the way people attempting to make a difference in a situation. However, I believe that it is better said to be a way of influencing others actions. Leadership is usually connected to a great leader that affected his or her followers in a dynamic way. Throughout the semester for my leadership class, I have expanded the knowledge in numerous ways. I now have fully understanding of the purpose and process of leadership to a society. Being a leader one must maintain an image of being the role model. I believe that this is leader should be who is someone who has the ability to influence, encourage, listen, and nurture. They are able to inspire, stimulate, persuade, shape, and have an effect on others.
