It is important that we as people constantly make an effort to grow and improve in order achieve success and reach our full potential. National Honors Society is an exceptional opportunity that allows one to better themselves through leadership roles, working with others, and giving back to the community. As a small group leader at the Crossing, the church I attend, I am a member of the leadership team that serves over early childhood. Being a member of this team has given me experience working with children both individually and in a group situation. Each week kids expand their knowledge of the bible through conversation, crafts, singing, dancing, and storytelling. It is my responsibility to arrive prepared to oversee all of these activities as well as answer questions to ensure that every child learns and enjoys themselves during our time together. In addition, I also …show more content…
had the privilege of being a Web leader at LaSalle my 8th grade year. As a Web leader I mentored new 6th grade students and helped them transition into a new chapter of their lives. Each month I had the opportunity to have lunch with my group and discuss their classes, teachers, friends, etc so that they could feel more comfortable in their new environment. Although each of these task come with their challenges, I find both roles to be extremely beneficial and rewarding. Having good character and surrounding myself with others who also model great character has always been a personal goal of mine.
My younger brother was born without his corpus callosum, or the central portion of his brain which means that his brain develops at a slower pace than his peers. Growing up with someone who has special needs has given me insight on the important things in life and ultimately improved my character. Because of this I’ve always placed emphasis on equality and loving others regardless of their racial, social, or financial status. Two years ago I had the honor of receiving the Glory of Missouri Award where I was recognized for exemplifying equality. I was fortunate enough to be presented with this award at the state capital which was an unforgettable experience. Being a member of the Goldenline dance team has also played a role in enhancing my character. As a member of the team I accountable for building up my teammates and interacting with a positive attitude at all times. These two guidelines have contributed to our success and allowed us to earn many accolades this
season. Over the summer I utilized my dance knowledge and my passion for working with special needs children to volunteer at Camp Independence. Camp Independence is a several week long camp organized by Children’s hospital where children with Cerebral Palsy have the opportunity to participate in modified activities such as basketball, dance, soccer, martial arts, swimming, tennis, and cycling. Myself and several of my friends were invited to teach the campers a dance class. Each week we came in and stretched, played dance related games, and taught dances. Although choreographing dances for the campers was difficult I really enjoyed seeing the kids break out of their shells and have a good time. Being considered for NHS is a huge honor in itself and I hope that I can continue to acquire leadership skills, improve my character, and explore service possibilities in the future while demonstrating the four pillars as a National Honors Society member.
National Honors Society is an extremely prestigious and well-known group that gave me the opportunity to assist the community while working harmoniously with my peers. To get into NHS, there are four pillars one must fulfill, including, scholar, service, leadership, and character. One may not realize it, but these qualities apply all throughout life. In order to be successful, one must achieve some form of each pillar. Being dedicated and committed to learning and improving but also using the knowledge one previously has is to be a scholar. Giving back to one’s community by making improvements or donations or simply just being courteous to one’s neighbor is to give one’s service. Taking the initiative to solve problems and guide others towards
I am exceptionally grateful for this opportunity to possibly be a member of this very prestigious organization. Every day I work tremendously hard to be noticed by both other scholars and my teachers. Now that an opportunity has come, I am truly excited to demonstrate and live by the values of The National Junior Honors Society. I hope to further expose and show both my dedication and want to join arms with my community and my peers and I wish to continue to work with passion and fire to shape the world into a brighter place.

I’m so happy to be given the opportunity to join National Junior Honor Society(NJHS). I would love to be a member. I think it is important for kids to be involved in the community. Also, myself personally it would be an honor to be a face for our school.
I would be an excellent choice to be a member of the National Junior Honor Society because I show service, leadership, character, and citizenship. “Leadership, dreams, scholarships, service, pride and character”, the first words that come to mind when I hear “National Honor Society”. Being chosen for National Honor Society is a great honor, as it has proved that from my childhood till now my hard work has paid off. From the beginning of high school, as a freshman to now a junior, I have always pushed myself to do better, but not better than others, better than myself. I had competition with myself and my past grades, as I emboldened myself to do better than each of my past marking period grades. I heartened myself to get stronger grades, because since the day I found out in freshman year that there was National Honor Society I was determined to get in. The day of my sister’s graduation
Being a potential candidate of the National Honor Society is a distinction that I greatly honor. I wish to be a member of the prestigious group for the various benefits to myself, my school, and my community. A member of my family was a former member of the National Honor Society; he has mentioned many positive benefits of being a member and how being a member is beneficial to the community. Due to my exemplary qualities of a National Honor Society member, I am qualified to be part of the chapter.
As a student at Northvale Public School, I grew up with my older siblings being inducted into an organization called the National Junior Honor Society. I had seen all the hard work and dedication they put into their school work and activities just to get into this society, making me want to be just like them. Then a few weeks ago, I found a note on my desk in the homeroom telling me that I had been nominated to be apart of this society. Through citizenship and character, leadership, and service, I intend on being inducted into the society I have heard so much about. Though it will take a lot of effort this school year, being a part of this society is a dream of mine that I will make sure to come true.
My extracurricular activities and groups that I belong to fall into the two main areas of my life that I am passionate about: community service and technology/science. I have always wanted to give back to my community because it is the community that has enabled me to be fortunate enough to have opportunities such as these where I can contribute, learn, and grow as a young adult. I have pursued a number of organizations devoted towards giving back and servicing my local community. Those organizations include: Boy Scouts of America, SMYLE youth group (Saint Margaret's Church), and Peer Advocates (Madison Youth and Family Services). The DHHS Tech Club, and the DHHS Hacking Club are the two main technology organizations that I take part in and also have active leadership roles in.
This valuable opportunity of joining the National Junior Honor Society will undeniably help prepare me as a future leader. In the workforce, being adept at making yourself stand apart from others is essential. The National Junior Honor Society will help me interact with others and improve communication by helping
The Student Government Association is a very important organization that makes a large impact on Willard High School. I would like to be a part of changing and improving how the school operates and is organized. I believe that being a part of SGA will be very beneficial in many aspects, including helping me learn how to be more confident in any future position and become a better leader. Each year, the members of this group have been in charge of bettering everyone’s experience and I qualify in aiding them in the upcoming year.
The National Junior Honor Society is a society for students who earn high grade point averages and are active participants in their community. This society looks for five qualities in a student which include: academics, character, citizenship, service, and leadership. All of these qualities are important in a student’s life. These qualities help define a person and show how active they are within their own community. Perhaps one of the most important qualities is academics.
With the additional research I have completed on my own about The National Honors Society. I have gotten a greater understanding of what this society is about. “It is an organization devoted to recognizing high school students who have maintained a certain GPA throughout the years. It’s also recognizes or looks for students who are involved in more than just school work.” Which brings
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a charitable organization that I have been involved with for four years. “[They] believe that every child should have the opportunity to reach his or her full potential” (Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada, 2011). This mission statement shows their true dedication to allowing children to not be held back by their lack of socialization at a younger age and to be able to find who they are and make a difference in the world. I decided to pick this experience in particular because of the huge impact that it had on my life. Although we met only once a week it was an experience I will forever remember. I had one mentee in particular that showed such great advances in the year that we spent together. This little was in grade 5 at the time and was very shy; having being raised by one parent he had a lack of parental figures in his life. From such a young age he had a hard time trusting people because those around him always seemed just to leave. By me being their week after week he began to realize that I was not going anywhere fast. Although at first it took a long time to get through to him he eventu...

For years now it has been my goal to become a member in the National Honors Society for many reasons. Taking leadership and improving my leadership skills is a large part of my life and I believe becoming a member of the National Honors Society would improve and refine my leadership skills. Also, becoming a part of this elite society of students and surrounding myself with these excellent people will enable me to become a better scholar, leader and an all-around person. I understand that National Honors society requires the highest caliber students, leaders
