A member of the National Honor Society must exhibit traits such as scholarship, leadership, service, and character. That is why members of National Honor Society are among the best and the brightest students in their school. They represent their school with honor and pride. Hence the name, National Honor Society. One of the many traits it takes to be one of the privileged members of the National Honor Society is scholarship. Scholarship to me is being able to learn effectively, and using that knowledge to help others. I remember my first year in high school. I was placed in many challenging classes such as biology and the infamous algebra. I was not book smart like most of my fellow peers in those difficult classes; it took me a little longer to solve a problem and I would have to study harder to achieve a high grade on a test when no one else studied and got the same grade. Scholarship might mean being naturally intelligent to others, but to me it means staying up at night and not going to bed until I absolutely understand the problem one hundred percent or reading a novel twice or …show more content…
A leader is someone who will work towards a goal that will benefit the group as a whole and along the way they will lead that group to accomplish that particular goal. A leader has to have passion and they need to create a vision and follow through with it until it is completed. I was selected as one of eight out of over 400 applicants to represent the church camp that I have attended summer after summer for two weeks as a high school staffer this past summer. I had to lead two large groups of campers, made up almost entirely of new camper, in a group bible study for two weeks . At first, it was difficult to get the campers to open up, but later I realized that they were trying their hardest and I needed to be patient. My goal was to lead and help them become the best person and future leader anyone could ask
The first characteristic scholarship, is best defined as a commitment of learning. All National Honor Society members are required to maintain a GPA of 93 or higher. I have worked hard to maintain a GPA to those standards, and I have made my best effort to be on honor roll or principal’s list every quarter of my academic
Nominees were asked to try and write about one experience, which proves quite difficult and uninteresting. It's much more interesting to discuss the value of the "pillars" of the National Honor Society. One thing defines us in life. One thing that outshines service, leadership, and even scholarship. In fact, without this thing, the other three are irrelevant. Character. Character carries us through our lives. It gives motivation and strength. It gives love and hate. It gives decisions of yes or no. Character is most important to me. It is character that literally defines all of us. Character is more than being kind and polite. If everyone's character could be summed in that way of unkind or kind and polite or impolite the world would not be interesting anymore would it? The world is interesting and so is everyone else, all because of character.
The English Honor Society appeals to me in many ways due to the presented opportunity of meeting new people, helping others while advancing my skills in the English language, and reviewing the subject of English Language Arts altogether. I am very intrigued by many of the mentioned ‘activities’ during the introduction meeting. I enjoy watching plays and musicals that relate to both historical and modern literature; they help to give different interpretations of the main themes and ideas found throughout it and also aid the audience to understand and comprehend ambiguous details. I love children and would be ecstatic to respond to their letters to ‘Santa’ as an ‘elf’. I also want to refine my skills that are English-related (such as writing
“Leadership, dreams, scholarships, service, pride and character”, the first words that come to mind when I hear “National Honor Society”. Being chosen for National Honor Society is a great honor, as it has proved that from my childhood till now my hard work has paid off. From the beginning of high school, as a freshman to now a junior, I have always pushed myself to do better, but not better than others, better than myself. I had competition with myself and my past grades, as I emboldened myself to do better than each of my past marking period grades. I heartened myself to get stronger grades, because since the day I found out in freshman year that there was National Honor Society I was determined to get in. The day of my sister’s graduation
When I think of NHS, leadership, character, community, and role modeling are all things that come to mind. Being a part of the National Honors Society will help me do just that. I have worked hard for outstanding grades, citizenship, and becoming a leader and role model for other classmates. That is why I believe I deserve a spot in the National Honor Society community.
To be in the National Junior Honor Society, one must have good citizenship and character. I seek to be a part of this society because it is a great honor and shows not only to others, but also to myself, how hard I have worked throughout my years at Northvale Public School. I take part in school activities and have helped my teachers, so
I am profoundly honored to be among the exceptional people who are being noticed for the National Honor Society. Being considered to join the National Honor Society is an honor in itself. It is with great honor to be considered among the students of my class to be a part of the National Honor Society. the National Honor Society (NHS) has been an organization that has displayed great interest to me, with new leadership skills and responsibilities to take upon. I believe that I hold the leadership skills, service, character, and academic excellence that is required to become a member of the National Honor Society.
The National Honor Society is a very prestigious organization that I would love to be a part of. It was an honor to be nominated as a candidate. I am currently a sophomore in high school, and I have always wanted to be a member of the National Honor Society. As I look back over the years and think of the times I have attended the ceremonies and saw all the awards the members received, I recall saying to myself “That’s going to be me one day.”. I asked my teachers about all the requirements that had to be met to be a National Honor Society member and I made it my main goal to meet each and every one.
Being a leader is no simple task. During my Eagle Scout project, I lead a range of people, from adults to youth. It was my job to make sure everyone was working and, that everyone was capable of doing their task. I had many issues doing this throughout my project because I am only one person and I can’t be everywhere at once. Thusly made being a leader a drudgery. But I had an incredible set of adults guiding me along the way, who taught me that being a leader was not doing everything myself, being a leader
When I think of the National Honor Society, I think of a group of hard-working, talented students dedicated to their future and their community. In my high school career, National Honor Society members have always been people to look up to, not only for their status, but for everything it stands for.
What is a leader? A leader is someone who takes command and leads an organization or group to success. Anyone can be a leader but in order to become a great leader you have to have to possess certain characteristics. I will be using Odysseus from the Odyssey isas an example of a leader who has suitable characteristics. You also have to know what harmful characteristics a leader may possess to determine if they are good leaders or not.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
In this term, I mean it in a positive connotation of being the person that everyone can look up to and know will help them in any time of need. Showing character is an important aspect of being in National Honor Society because it requires respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship. I consider myself to have all of these qualities. I am a strong individual who works very well with others. I appreciate criticism and think of it more as an improvement rather than a downfall. The final but not limited to characteristic that I believe I contain is service. The rationale I believe that I uphold service is my willingness to volunteer. I love to help out my community and give back. I will assist anyone who is in need of it because I like to think of it as not only a way to help someone but to build their confidence in the area that they are seeking help in. One weekends, I always look online for places that I can volunteer at. Volunteering gives me a sense of pride as though an honor student would to a mother. One example in which I believe I showed an extreme amount of service is in my sophomore
According to Shockley and Zalabak (2009) "Leadership is a process of guiding individuals, groups, and entire organization in establishing goals and sustaining action to support goals.Leadership is like mapping out where you need to go to win". A Leader is a person who has a strong personality and who has an ability to manage people and work. He is also the person who is able to direct people .Usually a leaders has a lot of attributes that
