Title: Finding My Shine. This title sparked my interest because I wanted to know how the author found her shine. This title goes well with the book because she is trying to rediscover herself after she accomplished her life goal.
Author: Nastia Liukin. I have not read any other books by her because this is the only book she has written.
Genre: Biography. I normally don’t like biographies. Usually they bore me but this book didn’t. This book was one of my favorites.
Characters: Nastia Liukin was the main character of the book. She wrote this book about herself. She wrote this book to help young girls understand the struggles of becoming who you are. Anna Liukin was Nastia's mother. Anna was a rhythmic gymnast when she was younger. Anna was born and raised in Russia. Valerie Liukin was her father. He was also one of the top gymnasts in the world but represented Russia instead of the states. He received the gold medal in his olympic games. Shawn Johnson was Nastias teammate, competitor, and one of her closest friends.

Her name was Nastia Liukin. Nastia Liukin receives the All-Around gold medal for gymnastics. After the Olympic games she is trying to find herself. She’s lost for a couple years trying to discover who she is besides the best gymnast in the world. In reading this book, I discovered that she went through the same thing that I did when I was younger. I realized that even the top gymnast of her time had trouble figuring out who she was. It came as a surprise to me when I read that she was lost after the 2008 olympic games. I thought that she knew herself better than anyone! She had just accomplished one of the biggest goal of any athlete. Her main problem is that she never thought about life after gymnastics. She didn’t want to stop being involved with the sport, but she knew she couldn’t stay a gymnast forever. She discovered herself in helping
...was outstanding. She gives great insight to the horrors and the suffering and allows the reader to be placed into the same place with a large understanding of the emotions that took place. The only thing to complain about is the prolonging amount of detail on the dates and statistics. It’s hard to follow and difficult for one to pay attention and that’s where it became mundane. I can definitely confirm that it was worth the purchase and the time spent into the read. I could honestly say that I’ve already recommended it to others, and I will continue to do so. The people I’d recommend it to though is people interested in the subject and overly eager to learn about new things as opposed to my buddies.
To start with, Rosie Perez or Rosa Marie Perez was born on September 6, 1964 in Bushwick, Brooklyn, New York City, United States. She is a actress, dancer, choreographer, director, and community activist. Her parents are Lydia Perez, a singer and Ismael Serrano, a merchant marine seaman. Her aunt had been raising and catering her until her mother, Lydia Perez took her away and put her in Foster Care when she was 3. It wouldn't be much of a surprise if Rosie was to detest her parents after all they put her through. Rosie stayed there until she moved in with another aunt when she was 12. Later on she joined a high school in Rightwood, Grover Cleveland High School. Now most of the confusion and sadness had culminate.
The heart of the story is the experience of Marie Polatkin. Unlike the somewhat stock characters that make up much of the mystery element of the novel, Marie is a fully real...

It all started when her sister Arielle taught her how to do a cartwheel. Gabrielle then did a perfectly one handed cartwheel at four years old. Her sister Arielle was really impressed with what Gabby could do especially at at young age. Arielle then talked her mother into putting Gabrielle in a gymnastics class and had successfully convinced her. Natalie, Gabrielle’s mother saw the flexibility and coordination in her daughter, and so she enrolled her in a former gymnastics class when she was six years old (bio.com). By the time Gabrielle was eight she had won state championship and made her mother proud (bio.com). Gabrielle Douglas was not content with winning just state championship, she hoped and wanted to participate in the olympics. Her passion for being an Olympic gold medalist was beginning to grow on her.
Franchesca got started in this long-term sport because of her mother, Andrea. Andrea was a gymnast when she was younger and wanted her children to be athletic like her. She therefore decided to start all five children in different sports. Gymnastics was the first sport Chesca gave a whack at, and she became very passionate very early on. She stuck with it, and became an extremely talented gymnast.
I really enjoyed this book. I have read it now 3 times and I think I get a different concept from it every time I read it. She was judged by what people saw on the outside rather than what was on the inside. I think that you actually have to get to know someone before you can judge them. I would highly recommend this book, but I think the older you are you will get more out of the book.
*All in all I would say that this novel is definitely a good read. I found my self at times relating my own thoughts and experiences to that of the characters in the book. This is the very reason I would recommend that you give your class next semester the option of reading either this book or another. From my point of view, I think that most men can not relate to certain situations that occur, which lessens the overall significance of her writing.
Some may consider this book biased, but I consider this book to be a true, well written story of a woman who struggled and who never gave up. A story that actually used her diary entry that was implemented into the chapters. The author gave the reader the opportunity to see how hard her life was and how she withstood all that came at her, in a way that makes this book an inspiration not only for women but rather for all of us.
She goes on a journey that involves discovering her race, gender, and true love in order to discover her identity. Hurston writes this book to teach other women to embrace being strong, courageous, and independent despite the common stereotype that exists in the

I continue gymnastics for a year after but it becomes miserable for me. I no longer have a passion for spending hours with my team doing flips. I come up with every excuse I can possibly think of to get out of going to gymnastics. During this year I have not yet admitted to myself that I am scared. After a year of tears, fear and exhaustion I approach my mom and explain my feelings to her. I decide to leave with all the amazing memories I have and leave a winner rather than being resentful and hating the thing I love the most.
