I stayed late to close up the shop, a responsibility not ordinarily bestowed upon minors. Had I come home earlier, I might not have seen Michael Gallagher. The Gallaghers lived in a dingy house down the street from mine, but anyone who got too close was soon accosted by the Rottweiler chained up in the yard. Children walked on the other side of the street, and people gripped their wheels more tightly when driving by. From what I´d heard, it had to do with more than the dog. By the time I returned home from work and reached my front door, it was getting dark. That was when I saw him, the oldest Gallagher kid, sitting on the roof of his house. With the setting sun behind him, he looked like a silhouette. My gaze lingered on Michael a moment longer
“Mom! Mom! The dogs got Cody. The dogs got Cody” (Vancouver Sun, 2007). Just a few days after Christmas in 2004, these are the cries that awoke Sheri Fontaine. Fontaine raced from her bed into the living room to find her three-year old son, Cody Fontaine, savaged by the dogs that were staying temporarily in her house. Tragically, young Cody did not survive the attack. A young life taken, a mother’s life ruined. Sadly, this story is not as uncommon as one of violence against people, they exhibit highly stubborn characteristics that make them difficult to control, and such bans have proven to be extremely effective.
In the story of “Half Husky” the protagonist Vanessa is shown to be more related to many school students, including my friend James, that we all have numerous responsibilities, but we are often distracted, fail to notice or carry out our responsibilities. As we kids grow older and older we tend to notice more responsibilities placed upon us whether we choose to take on these responsibility or they are circumstantial. This is explained by the relationship that Vanessa has with her pet dog Nanuk. In the story Vanessa begged her grandfather to accept the dog into the family, and in return she said that she would take the duty of taking care of the husky. This situation is reminiscent to the time where my friend James told a story of his own pet
Nationwide, approximately 50 percent of all children will be bitten by a dog before they reach the age of twelve (DeIorio, “Have a Dog-Bite-Free Summer”). In Marion County, Florida, aggressive and dangerous breads of dogs are a “serious issue” for the community according to Marion County Commissioner Jim Payton (Thompson, “County drops '1 free kill'”). Responsible dog owners seem to be unaware of the problem but area residents who have been victims of these attacks have turned to the Marion County Board of Commissioners for help. The local County Commissioners have been wrestling with this issue since October of 2009 when a widow from Ocklawaha, Patricia McBee, had three of her dogs euthanized after they allegedly killed her neighbor’s cat (Thompson, “County drops ‘1 free kill’”). The need for change moved even faster after a 3-year-old little girl was attacked and killed by a dog that was chained to a tree outside her house in Citra (Lee, “Girl, 3, mauled”).
asked him a few questions, then pulled out the firearm and pointed it towards Michael and
For owning a dog that wasn’t registered or not obeying with the rules once it is registered by keeping it on a leash and muzzled when in public as well as in a car resulted in the dog being destroyed. There were no other options that were available to the courts. The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 is the greatest proof that the principles of democracy and justice have been unashamedly ignored. Parents and children were left in tears with their dogs being taken away from them for months and kept in kennels in secret locations.
Whereas Milgram and Hollander try to understand why the neighbor did not call the police. I agree with Milgram and Hollander that you have to take into consideration that the situation was not a very clear and simple decision. It was very hard and something most people would not know how to handle. You have to think about the fact that it was at 3 o’clock in the morning when most people are asleep. You also have to consider the fact that they do not live in a rural area, it is a very busy place Kew Gardens is in the city and so parties and college students walk around after a party. Nevertheless, you have to think about the fact that most of the neighbors have families and by them calling the police they might be placing them in danger, or putting themselves into danger. Milgram and Hollander even gave the example of how one man tried to do the right thing and it resulted in his life being
Michael changed drastically over the course of only a few weeks. He learned more about his friends, family, and himself than he ever wanted to know.
Dog parks are a great place to take the dogs because it provides a space where they do not have to be on a leash every time, while they can interact with other animals of their species in a pet-friendly environment. Every city in the country should have at least one of these places, in order to help their inhabitants with their pets and because it is a good part of the life in the community. A few days ago, while walking my dog, I decided to run with him but with the leash in my hand, so that way he could be free to stop and sniff wherever he wanted. This experience was very good for the dog because he was not tied to the limits that I provided, but he was always by my side running. A couple of minutes after being “free” a policeman showed up.

Furthermore, after he left the bathroom, he couldn’t find Keisha Keisha Keisha. After searching the entire house top to bottom, he couldn’t find Keisha Keisha Keisha, so he decided to leave. As he opened the front door, he saw two faint shadows on the sidewalk in front of the house. Deep in the dense forests that arose on the Blue Ridge Mountains of West Virginia, amidst the rocky crags and lofty peaks, Ellis McHanan trekked with an assertiveness foreign to most nineteen year old men. By the glimmering light of the moon, he navigated the narrow paths that only his feet had ever walked. The night was chilly and dim, and the thin shirt he wore could not keep out the mist that settled on the peaks with the early morning hours-- so he suppressed the aching breaths that attempted to groan out of his chest with the tiny puffs of white that came from his mouth and surrounded his red, wind-whipped cheeks.
