Narrative Essay It was a hot summer afternoon and all the neighborhood kids were getting off the bus. There is Destany and her two sisters Aleria and Kimoriah. They are my favorite out all the kids. I love to watch them play every day because it is like watching an episode of Fat Albert They are always doing something to make me laugh. There is also my niece Rihanna, she is the toughest in the neighborhood. She is the biggest and tallest of all the other kids. Then the boys Brayden known as Bray and Kimond known as KJ. They are the youngest in the neighborhood. They are the typical two year old, KJ loves to fight and Bray loves to bite, but in spite of their differences, they play very well together. As any after school day I assume they …show more content…
I am her auntie Lesa. Here she comes on her bike with a bag of candy and a bottle of water in her hands riding with only one hand. Rihanna is an African American female with long black thick hair, I think her height intimidates the other kids and when she talks her voice is her voice is very heavy and deep. They all respect her except for Destany. Destany is just as tall but skinny with a light complexion. The other children call her the mix kid on the block, because they do not know what race she is. She gets so mad and start yelling at everybody, saying; I am black. Rihanna, being her bossy self says,” girl you better get in the house and start doing your homework.” Destany replies back girl you cannot come down here trying to tell me what to do, you just a kid yourself, you are not a grown up. Rihanna replies; excuse me, I was just trying to help you. I can go ride my bike elsewhere, the only reason I came down is to see if you needed any help. Just as she was riding away she looks back and shouted out to Destany Do you want to play basketball? Destany replies you know I do and do not rush me, I have to finish my homework first. You came down her so fast you probably have not done any of yours. Rihanna replies I will be outside when you get …show more content…
They are in their terrible two’s. I tell them every day if they do not stop all that fighting and biting they will not be able to attend any schools or day cares anywhere. They will be suspended. Because the school will not tolerate that kind of behavior. All I can say is they live up to the terrible two status. And last but not least is little Julie a short white female three years old going on 21, lives in the house across from me. Julie has a sister name Juliana who is the same age as Destany and Rihanna. Julie and her sister have different dads. Julie’s dad is a tall white male with sandy brown hair and her sister’s dad is African American. This is a sad summer for Julie because her mother passed away, the sisters were separated from each other. As soon as she sees my truck pull up in the driveway, before I can get out of my truck good her she comes. Sometimes I make it into the house before she spot me pulling up, but I leave the door unlock because I know she is coming within five or ten minutes of me being there. She walks in and grab a blanket off the couch and just curl up under it. She repeats to me my mommy died. I just pick her up in place her on my hip. Then I walked to the front door and told her to look up at the big blue sky, after which I carried back into the house and sit her in my lap as if she was a new born baby, I gently stroke her hair I
Mollie is the patient in our case study. Mollie lives with her daughter and son in law, both in their 70’s. A home health aide assists Mollie five days a week for three hours each day. At age 94, Mollie is an older adult, considered to be part of a vulnerable population, at risk for hearing, visual and mobility deficits. This at risk population can experience changes in cognitive or physical status making the activities of daily living difficult to perform (Meiner, 2011). As people like Mollie age, gradually becoming less able to function independently, their grown children, potential caregivers, may be preoccupied with the demands of their own lives and not prepared to care for an older
Ruby got to school and people started screaming and yelling “get her out” The crowd was also holding up signs that said “Black Only” or “White Only.” The Marshalls had guns with them to keep people that wanted to hurt her away from Ruby. The Marshalls would tell Ruby to keep walking and to ignore what the people where saying. Before Ruby was inside of school all teachers were arguing to which who would be Ruby’s teacher and Barbara Henry offered to teach Ruby Bridges. When Ruby came in the door Mrs. Henry greeted Ruby with pleasure and Ruby gave her a
All siblings are cruel to one another in many different ways; but the story written by James Hurst called "The Scarlet Ibis" takes the idea to a whole new level.
Torres uses the words like “mud” and “horseshit” to reveal how low and unwanted the eldest son feels. When we think of “mud” or “horseshit”, our first reaction would be to step over it or avoid the area that contains it at all costs. In this case, the people avoiding the “horseshit” are their parents. Not only that, but Torres includes the statement “we’re on our own” to further depict how neglectful the parents have been to their sons. Being the oldest, Manny is considered to be the responsible on because it states that., “Paps assumed it was all Manny’s idea because Manny was the oldest and because it was, actually, all Manny’s idea. He didn’t wait to get home but beat Manny right there in the field” (Torres83). Readers can infer that no matter what happens, Manny will always be the father’s “punching bag” whenever the boys would do something bad, which makes him feel unworthy as well. Then there’s Joel, the middle child. In most families, the middle child is never really glorified. It is as if they are a filler or some sort because the eldest child will always be praised for being head of the sibling clan, the youngest can be deemed the “favorite”, while the middle child is just there. Torres shows this by not giving readers the full Joel. Readers don’t know how Joel feels because, he wasn’t taught how to express his emotions, which parents should teach their child. Finally, there is Mijo; the youngest. Mijo,
She was cruelly treated, spit at, beaten, and shunned on a daily basis. Her parents were sympathetic to her dilemma and finally forced her to see a psychiatrist. She was placed on medication that made her very sleepy. The psychiatrist said that “kids will be kids and that possibly she was looking for attention from her parents.” In eighth grade, a group of popular students followed her to the parking lot after school on a winter’s afternoon, knocked her to the ground, and shoved fistfuls of snow down her throat, laughing as they watched her struggle to breathe.
Walking up dilapidated stairs, my friend and I enter into the chapter room of Beta Sigma Psi, where the Little Sisters of the Gold Rose meets every week. The fraternity house smells of stale beer and sweat, and has clear signs of past parties and shenanigans. However, we have officially become activated members of the service sorority and were attending our first chapter meeting with the entire sorority. In that chapter room we discussed future service events, volunteering opportunities, and then went around the room for anyone to share news and announcements with the group. It was at this moment that I felt like a true active member in LSGR, when everyone was interested in hearing about each other’s lives and wellbeing. While as a rushing
I had just turned eleven and received a book, Eleven by Lauren Myracle, from my mother as a birthday gift. As I opened the page and read the first line I immediately had an overwhelmingly bubbly feeling. The sheer coincidences made me feel like that book was written with me in mind. I read on and on non stop for the rest of the day because how could I turn away from a book that was hypothetically written about me. It expressed my pre-teen drama, things only an eleven-year-old would consider drama and it inspired me. It gave me the sudden urge to pour my heart into the little mini books I was known for writing and leaving around the house. Writing was something that I was very passionate as a little girl and is still something I am very passionate about as a young adult. The little things I did in my childhood
The person that I see as a person of passion would have to be Lauren Fristrom. Lauren is my cousin who is 30 years old and is a Registered Nurse. I chose her because this Thanksgiving she had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I told her that I have need to make the decision between a Veterinarian and a Registered Nurse. She asked me, “Which job interested you more”. I told her that I loved to help people and animals, but I had no idea which job I would have more fun and experiences with.
The children are all about a year apart and have close ties due to their short age differences. The oldest son DD takes responsibility for the baby of the family BD quite often and is often noted to be helping him to the table or with his chore when no one is paying attention. The...
Don’t you get that badass vibe whenever Rihanna is dancing in her music videos and singing those despicable lines? Yes, everyone does! With an unprecedented musical success, she’s one the most influencing pop stars the world has seen since the 2000s.
Relationships between brothers and sisters are the oldest and often last throughout the lifespan (Whiteman). Worldwide, these under researched relationships play an important role in the lives of families and each other (McHale, Soli, & Whiteman, 2011). Much of the research performed on sibling relationships, specifically sibling rivalry, focuses on the early developmental stages. There is a gap in research between behavior and relationships in early developmental stages and sibling relationships in later developmental stages, more specifically what impact if any, does sibling rivalry have on the adult relationships between sisters.
I apologize for my no call no show today! This morning was not a morning that I could win. Something you don't know about me is that I suffer from Bipolar Depression. For me this has been a struggle that I have been dealing with in undergrad that I have not until this past year really learned what is going on with my body. This morning was the final blow to my self that yet again that I am going to have to change medications or something in that nature will have to happen. I have been in denial telling myself that it is that I am not getting enough sleep or this or that, but this morning I could not will myself to get myself out of bed and that is a problem. I am taking the appropriate steps in contacting my doctor to get an appointment
The day they were leaving, I went ahead and packed everything I needed, and since I really had no experience on babysitting, I spent the night before searching fun activities I could do with the kids. I headed out to Mr. and Mrs. Smith’s house with all my belongings in hand. They greeted me at the door and explained everything, and introduced the kids. There was five year old David, and four year old Kaden. They looked like sweet boys to me and I wasn’t too scared about them not liking me. First, I had them sit down and I explained that there was going to be no hitting, kicking, punching or whatsoever. They agreed and I ...
At the young age of just twenty-four, singer/songwriter Taylor Swift has already made her mark on the world. With four platinum records, several hit singles, and seven Grammy Awards, the young songwriter has been a source of both entertainment and inspiration for people of all ages. Unlike other artists, Taylor Swift is completely fearless with her songwriting. Whether she’s singing about her first day of school, falling in love, or breaking up with a boyfriend, Swift always shares intimate details about her personal life in her lyrics. Many people love this quality about her, but others think Swift gives women a bad reputation by appearing to be a flawless and blameless victim in her songs. Regardless of the negative thoughts some people have about her, Taylor Swift is undoubtedly a huge success and a role model for teenage girls all over the world.
My brothers and sister are the best motivation to me. It is not every day that we get along but when we do then it is a good day. Every day they make me want do better, not only for myself but for my mom and them also. They encourage me to do better now so that my future is bright later on. Family is always the best to have on your team especially for their support because they genuinely mean it and you know that it is coming from their heart. I know I can count on all my brothers and sister to be there for me when no one else is because they are family. I hate that they are growing every day and getting older to experience the real life. I hope even later on they will all still support me and we will not drift apart like I know
