How many times a day does one say they are tired? While walking through school hallways, work places, almost anywhere one can hear someone say, “I am so tired.” Many have routines that start early in the morning and end late at night. Running through the normal routines of school, work and any other scheduled events can eliminate one’s energy. Napping once a day can help the problem of being tired all the time, while promoting health, keeping one refreshed, relaxed and prolonging energy. Even though people have busy lives, they should make sleep a priority and take a nap every day.

Have a nap”, it states, “The benefits of a nap can outweigh the time spent nodding off for 20 minutes... a short nap can prolong your productivity for up to three to four hours” (qtd. Prashad 1). Taking short naps is the most effective way to finish one’s routine smooth and efficiently. Extending productivity is not the only benefit from napping; it can also increase quality of work. Napping not only increases energy, but also increases the quality of ones work.
Taking a nap everyday improves ones energy and motivation for one to finish with best efforts. In an article titled, “To Get More As, students Need more Zs” it stated, “But some schools are also giving students what a growing body of research reveals could make a huge difference in their college careers: earplugs, sleep shades and napping lessons” ( Pope 1). Since quality of work can improve, colleges are now recommending students take naps more regularly, providing them with the devices. Explaining while it increases one’s alertness, it also makes one more alert and boosts ones overall mood. Many times after a long day of school, I go home overwhelmed and exhausted. Usually, I will settle down and take a small nap to help wake myself up so I can finish my many tasks. However, if I have places to go after school I do not get to my daily nap, leaving me irritated. However many believe napping every day can cause people many benefits, it actually cause people to lose track of their sleep schedules or diagnosed with insomnia. Soundly napping for too long can throw off one’s sleep schedule keeping one awake later in the night. In an article titled, “The Pros and Cons of Napping” it states, “Long naps or napping late in the day may adversely affect the quality of your night time sleep or exacerbate insomnia” (“Pros and Cons of Napping” 1). Staying up late because of a nap that can throw off ones schedule is something to consider when taking a nap every day. Nevertheless, sleep schedules may be effected in many different ways. Although people who may sleep the recommended hours and those who do not can have the same alertness. Sleep is cumulative and napping does not always effect sleep schedules: Do you know that according to some studies, power napping is beneficial to someone who is a normal sleeper but who is getting insufficient sleep at night? There are also studies that confirm that the alertness of people who sleep eight hours a night vis-à-vis people who sleep less but took a nap during the day are the same. This shows sleep time is cumulative; (“Health benefits of Power Napping” 1) Napping will not affect a person’s sleep schedule as one might say. Napping has many health, mood alertness benefits and taking a nap can help one for the better.

Without his naps, Da Vinci might have never had enough energy to paint the Mona Lisa, or Albert Einstein might have never become one of the smartest people in the world. What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.

She goes on to say that as long as the hours of sleep that one has gotten leaves them feeling energetic and alert the next morning, then that person has met their sleep needs. In the world of higher education, students at the collegiate level are highly likely to be overwhelmed with course load, in addition to sports and extra-curricular activities (Jacobs & Dodd, 2003). These factors have the potential to lead to various amounts of sleep deprivation, and as the research of Nilsson, Sunderstrom, Karlsson et al. (2004) has shown, sleep deprivation is correlated with higher levels of fatigue, impairments in speed and accuracy as well as limitations in cognitive and physical performances. One way to cope with this fatigue that has shown to have very positive results on people of all ages is taking naps. Getting enough sleep can increase our chances of being more mentally/physically healthy and our safety throughout the day. How we feel throughout the day is depending on our sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to impaired judgment and actions, which can be a safety hazard towards yourself and your surroundings. When we sleep, our bodies are working to revitalize the brain to form new pathways to help with memory functions and our physical health such as healing repair heart and blood vessels and hormone balance. It is very important for everyone to maintain a good night’s rest to maintain daytime performance and lower stress.
