As our society is constantly improving and inventing new things our government is also keeping a closer and closer eye on us. An example would be the NSA or National Security Agency exists which can tap into our phones and see and hear all of our conversations. I believe if not now but in a few years with our technology advancing we will be like Big Brother in 1984 by George Orwell.
Firstly, the NSA was made to protect, to collect, and analyze communications to protect the security of the United States, but this has grown to be much more than “protection”. In today’s society everything that is considered our own can be hacked into by the government and they can find out anything and everything about us. According to the fourth amendment “the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.” Now this shows that the NSA would have to …show more content…

In the novel 1984 by George Orwell everyone in the world is equivalent and does exactly as the “party” says. Now the party represents the government in the year 1984, who’s to say that our government is not becoming alike? The party controls even how people think with their thought police. They want to have the support of their citizens fully even though what they are doing are not right. For example the main character, Winston, begins to have memories of how the world was before the party took over and he acts upon these memories trying to figure out exactly why and how the party took over. By doing so he ends up being caught by the thought police and is taken to be tortured and brainwashed into believing the party is doing everything correctly for their
