The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a 30 minute assessment that describes the personality of a individual based across four areas: Extraversion-Introversion, Sensing-Intuition, Thinking-Feeling, and Judging-Perceiving. When an individuals get their report, the MBTI provides an occupational lists that shows the occupations that was selected by the personality type. The next assessment is the 5 minute O*NET Interest Profiler assessment. This assessment also helps the individual find out what kinds of careers fits them based on their person interest. The Myers and Briggs Analysis is a series of questions that when answered are examined and grouped together in order to determine the personalities of those taking this test. This particular test can result in sixteen different outcomes or types of personalities, which is determined by four different categories that judge if you are introverted or extroverted, use your senses or your intuition, your choice to think or use your feelings, and finally if you are judgmental or perceptive. These series of questions are designed to judge our personalities and help us to determine which career pathways we will be most suited for based on our personality traits and abilities to work well with others, which is important for our future decisions.
The bases of this paper will be based on the results that I had obtained when I took the Myers-Briggs personality test. The results that I had obtained was that I was determined to be an ENFJ. I will go into depth about letter and how each represents that a specific aspect of my personality. The results that I had received were not what I had expected, but the more I read about the trait the more I realized how it suited me. I will also talk about the information that I had found useful from the book, Type Talk at Work: How the 16 Personalities Types Determine Your Success on the Job by Otto Kroeger, which gave me insight on how to interact with other personality types especially in the work environment. The information that I absorbed from the personality test and from the book will go into use in my personal and work life so that both environments will be cohesive and peaceful.
The following information can be found in the “Results and discussion” section: “The analyses reported above show that MBTI items fail to form the factors hypothesized by the test’s authors” (Saggino, Cooper, & Kline, 2001). The information I found in this study complimented the conclusion of the other article I reviewed. They both concluded that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator had many faults and was not reliable nor valid as far as solid science is concerned.

The Myers-Briggs type indicator (MBTI) is a type of personality test to determine a person’s personality type and thus their learning style. The MBTI is based on the work of the Swiss psychologist Carl Jung and the American mother and daughter team of researchers; Katherine Briggs and Isabel Myers (Opt, 2000). Jung was able to group peoples personalities into three basic classifications: extroversion vs. introversion, sensing vs. intuition, and thinking vs. feeling (literacynet.org, October 22, 2001). Jung published his findings in a book call Psychological Types, first seen in English in 1923 (Opt, 2000). Myers and Briggs studied and built onto his finding twenty years later, adding the fourth classification of judging vs. perceiving, and, in 1962, the MBTI was established (literacynet.org, October 22, 2001).

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) has recognized my profile as Introvert, Intuitive, Thinking and Judgment (INTJ). As an introvert, I can get nervous among other people. It does not pose a problem for an individual. On the other hand, in order to be an effective leader, it is important for me to keep a profound communicational relationship with my subordinates. Without proper communication skills, it is not possible to establish a functional relationship with my subordinates. This may jeopardize the success of any activity that we are involved in. The introvert part is perhaps the major barrier which may keep me away from being an effective leader.

After taking the Myers-Briggs Personality Types Test, my resulted personality is a provider which makes me understand myself much better. Now, looking back at the many situations and arguments I have been in makes me realize that I just want to help people, but wanting to help also put me in some tough situations but I can honestly say I have no regrets.
A musician’s distinct personality type can often be characterized by their instrument choice and from the ensemble that they play in. This study observed the differences in the personality types of High School Band, Orchestra, and Choir members. The Meyer-Briggs Personality Type Indicator (MBTI) was given to 143 Band members, 99 Orchestra members, and 107 Choir members. In this study, Orchestra refers to a strings only ensemble and Band refers to brass and woodwinds; Percussionists aren’t mentioned in the article.
The first personality test I took was the Myers Briggs Test where the results took me quite by surprise. The results stated that I was fifty eight percent extroverted, and forty-six percent introverted.
