Writing is one of those subjects that peeks my interests most. I always liked writing classes because it is one of those field of study which is very important for the future career and job opportunities. I wasn’t that good in this subject, but I still liked it, thinking that I will do well as there is always room for learning and improving. In India, I attended many English writing classes and it was a positive experience for me. I started learning English at a very early age, when I was in nursery. There, I got many opportunities like writing class essays and journals for annual magazines where I made the most of those tasks. But the first writing class I attended in tenth grade, they gave us different kinds of essays on different topics. …show more content…
But still it was challenging for me because I used to make many mistakes, grammar mistakes in my essay Journal writing was comparatively easier than the essay writing because it’s just like a free writing. So, it doesn’t take me any time to finish it quickly. Illustration essay is one of the essays in which I faced lots of problems. The top which I choose for the illustration essay was most violent Television show. In that I referred the internet, but when I uploaded that on ublearns the plagiarism checker showed me that I have around 29 percent of the content copied then I tried to change into my words. Professor also gave us the error revision paper in which we need to write what all errors we made in the essay and the correction for those essays. She also gave us to write why we made the errors are those errors a common mistake or a silly mistake. I wrote four essays in this class professor used to give us at least one week for each of them. The first essay I wrote about my new life, the second essay I wrote about the violent TV shows, the third essay I wrote about the common cold and the last essay I wrote about the effects of
The first essay given in this course was about our whole composing process. This essay was hard to write about and I remember having several grammar mistakes. Sitting down and writing my process on paper,
Throughout this semester we have had to write many types of essays. Although this is a college English class there is still room for improvement. I made much improvement during the semester of the class. I was able to identify my weaknesses. I learned how to make improvements to the areas I was having problems in. Although each essay we did was different I was able to begin with one essay and throughout the semester turn it into two other essays. I was able to change my style of writing to fit the type of audience I was working with. I will continue to work on my writing and keep improving it.
Most of us write in some form every day, so you would expect that most of us would be well practiced and pretty good at writing. I read and write all the time; I have been taken several college courses and nearly all of them require write of some form. However, before taking this class not only was I not a good writer, I knew I wasn’t a good writer. Now I am not saying that I am ready to write my first novel, but I certainly more confident in turning in my college papers. The content of this course and the style of teaching was incredibly beneficial to me. Throughout this course we had multiple assignments that were aimed to improve us as writers. I am sure that everyone took something different from this course, and I am sure that each student took more from some areas than others; however for me there were three major things that I saw that I benefited from most. Our weekly craft lessons, grammar plan, but most of all, observational learning.
Writing is so much easier when you don’t have a ridiculous amount of guidelines you have to follow. With literary freedom, we are able to express ourselves more than if we have to follow a specific set of rules for every thing we write. This is one downfall for high school English. We have to order our papers in a specific sequence while writing about a topic that is chosen for us. This English composition class changed all of that. We were able to write about anything that related to the given type of essay, which greatly improved our ability to fully immerse ourselves into every paper. This greatly affected my writing thoughts about writing; they changed from hating to write for school to actually enjoying it because I was able to find new things about my self while deepening my knowledge for writing.
Multiple essays have been formulated during the duration of Composition 1. These essays have taught me an important lesson about my writing, failure is acceptable in order to grow. On the other hand, I made an important discovery last year that I want to study journalism and advance further in that field after college. From taking journalism classes, to blogging in my spare time, to always getting an A on my papers, I thought I had no room to improve. I was mistaken. Therefore, because of the rigorous essay work each essay brought, I learned more about how to write different pieces and grow from my “failure”.
My experience with writing in English class has mainly been a good one. Since I began writing essays in Elementary school I have been a decent writer. I am always working on my writing skills to become a better writer; there will always be room for improvement. Every English class I have taken has taught me new techniques, which helped to strengthen my previous writing abilities, as well as hone newly learned skills. Some of the aspects of my writing experience that I am going to write about are my favorite kind of writing assignments, my least favorite kind of writing assignments, my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, and my expectations for Freshman English.
At the beginning of the semester I had many issues with my grammatical errors in major assignments due to the fact I did not have the correct writing skills to perfect my grammatical errors in my major assignments and short answer responses. The review essay was the essay that I noticed that I had problem with grammatical errors. For exam...
I was never a person that liked to write essays. This semester I really enjoyed writing those essays and specially because I was learning new things while writing them. Some things I could do to improve my essay writing are not to wait till the last three or four days before I turn my essay in to start doing it. Another thing I will do is if I forget how to do something or about some rule in the common errors I made I will just go back to all the lessons I printed out to have as reference. I think those will help me allot. And one last thing I will do to improve my writing is to try my best not to confuse all those words I got confused. I will do my best to learn each word and its rule of where it goes so I won’t have the same mistakes I had this semester.
In summary, I had an enjoyable time in my first college English class. I pushed myself as diligently as I could and learned much more than I thought I would. In addition to, my strengths grew stronger and my weaknesses improved as well. I acknowledge I still have some techniques and skills to work on; however, I am willing to put the time in and cannot wait to take English in the future. Writing is an everlasting skill that will be an enormous asset to me; in addition to my future classes, and my career as

When I was younger I absolutely hated reading and writing. I was a perfectionist and if I couldn’t do it perfectly the first time then I wouldn’t do it at all. Thankfully my teacher at the time managed to get me to sit down and practice sounding out the words on the page in front of me. My teacher enlisted the help of my mother and they made sure I read a full chapter every day. At first it was torture, but I slowly started to look forward to sitting down to read a book.
Ever since I was a child I have loved reading interesting literature. The very first books I recall picking up as a child were the stories of Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. I got them as a Christmas present and I remember thinking how lovely it would be to actually understand the words that were printed onto the paper. So I started teaching myself how to read, with a little help from my mother of course. Every time I had figured out how to pronounce a new word, I would run of to my mother so that she could explain the meaning of the word.
Also with my sentence structure issue I had words that were spelled incorrectly once again because of not careful rereading. In an alternate essay when I was talking about how Darnay and how he almost lost his wife, I say, "His suffering in prison brought him closer to his wife and her father, it made him realize all he was going to loose" (Tale of Two Cities). The word loose, should have been changed lose, with careful reading I could have caught that. The overall theme I have with most of my essays is that I don't carefully read and or have someone proof read for
Taking a creative writing class was a good way for me to express my thoughts and feelings onto paper, as well as read my other classmates stories. Reading stories created by other people lead me into their mind brain to experience what type of writer they were, it was an overall exquisite class. I believe that every person has a way of expressing who they are through writing stories of their own, fiction is the best way to express your creative imagination. This class that I took for two years helped me become a better writer and helped me understand the types of writers we have.
I will be the first to admit that I lack experience when it comes to writing. I’ve written poems for the fun of it and school assignments for fear of failing classes, that’s it. The writing skills that I wield aren’t strong or college level. I can sum up the reasons why I haven’t been able to enjoy writing in the past with two main points. One is that it has always been a chore for me.
