Reading and writing have always been one of my strengths. I started reading when I was on second grade in elementary school, and I remember, my father taught me to keep notes when I read. So by the end of high school I possessed lots of notebooks with notes that I keep with me all the time. In one point of my life I decided to come and live in America. I started studying English at CCC for three years, and over the course of my stay here I have grown and learned more that I thought was possible. Anyway, I didn’t have any difficultly with my reading; however, the challenge for me was the writing. I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is coherent and correct according to assignments. Writing was a bit challenging in the beginning, but I started to love the heavy writing aspect of online studying. Writing is so important as many successful people contribute their big achievements to writing. It's even more important in this digital age when ordinary people can express their ideas through so many channels. Good writing is also the foundation for good speaking.

I earned confidence to anticipate every day in my daily learning, and confidence to believe in me. I decided to face these challenges and come through stronger every week.
In order to complete all assignment at the last week of course, we would create a digital portfolio. I know that my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge has improved after each assignment. Looking through all my works I decided to choose my first discussion, my abstract discussion and the discussion of the last week. I chose these assignments for a simple reason, to compare and proof myself that I really did an improvement in my writing. I guess that's a good challenge. I believe no writing is too much, so the more you write the better it
When writing a five paragraph essay, there are five steps one must fallow in order to attain perfection, these steps include understanding the question, brainstorming, writing a rough copy, revising, and creating a final draft. The first and most important step is understanding the topic. The topic of the essay is what the essay will be about and if this is misunderstood, the whole essay will be off course. The second step, brainstorming, will help organize thoughts and ideas so they flow amiably. There are many different ways to brainstorm, some of the most helpful are making a web of ideas, making a list of ideas, or creating a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the conviction. All these ideas will be related to the topic at hand. For example, if the essays topic is about how the earth is affected by global warming, then the brainstorming ideas might include the ozone lair being reduced or how global climate has raised. The third step when writing a five paragraph essay is creating the rough draft. The first draft must have all the features the final will, but does not have to be...
I used to have to take these tests about all the books I would read in school and I would always ace them all. I knew that reading was something I liked because I was always very intrigued by it. Also in middle school I found my true writing voice. I remember taking a creative writing class in six grade and I was always the student who wrote more than what was expected for my writing assignments. I would write stories about things such as my friends and the experiences that I had in school. Sometimes I would even write my own plays and in my plays the characters would be people in family and people from school. I would always try to make the plot super interesting in my plays. One time I wrote a play about my brothers and me traveling to space and finding aliens. Overall, I really fell in love with literacy throughout my middle school years because I was able to read books more at an advance level and I also was able to write more intense stories. Literacy has been a positive influence in my life all throughout my school
Have you ever had someone or something be influential in your life? We do, although sometimes we don’t notice it. For example, we all have that role model we want to be like as a person, but we also have someone or something to help us with our writing. Throughout my life I’ve had many influential people and memories to help me with my writing and reading, like autocorrect or a teacher, although I hadn’t realized it untill now. After struggling with reading when I was younger, I have had many impacts in my life to shape me into the reader and the writer I am today.
When i was working on my first assignment, I had to find out what i have to do for it to be a success, and I had to leave behind my earlier perceptions of writing and begin from scratch. Throughout this portfolio, I demonstrate my development and growth as a
I believe a good reader is what makes a good writer, but because I lost my interest in reading, I’ve struggled with writing throughout the years. It wasn’t that I had trouble learning new skills, but because I was pushed away from what I wanted to learn, so I decided to pursue other interests like music. Despite being eager to learn, my writing suffered due to my lack of interest in reading, however, my skills in writing have increased as my drive to read has rekindled. As a child, I was a very eager learner. I always wanted to learn new things to feed my brain.
At a young age I was introduced to reading and writing. It all started when I learned my ABC’s; from there on I was hooked on learning new things. Not long after I learned my alphabet, I started learning to form words, and thus the challenge of learning to read and write began. Reading and writing seemed like the most confusing thing ever. Reading and writing became easier as I started catching on to the concept of putting words together to make sentences.
The impact of reading and writing over the years has had a profound impact on me over the years. From elementary school to the present day, my literary skills have had their ups and downs; however, learning from failure has taught me that I can do anything through perseverance and a good work ethic. As we approach the end of our final semester, I cannot help but reflect on the many years of my education in Seaman Schools. From the nurturing years in elementary school to the awkward developing times in middle and high school, there has been one thing I have learned to appreciate: written and textual communication.
The way that I grew up affected a lot of my reading and writing skills. Growing up as a kid I learned to read. I read all the time besides playing video games of course. I believed I was an excellent writer when I was a lot younger. As a child, I grew up having a ton of imagination which I can put down on a piece of paper.
To be honest I am not much of a person who likes to read. Reading hasn’t been like my favorite subject that I enjoy to do. I started to learn to read as I started going to school. Starting in Elementary School I struggled to be able to read and I would just give up because it just seemed to hard to handle. In Middle School the struggle seems to be getting worse as the concept was more advanced.
Introductory Essay In my personal experiences with literature I have learned there is still much to be learned and many ways for me to improve. As a writer, I have my own sets of strengths and weaknesses, a unique approach to the way I choose to write, and multiple opinions on writing as a whole. All of these factors, and more that are soon to be mentioned, are the reasons I am the writer that I am.
Despite my lack of confidence in my work, I still had to turn a paper. With a red tint dusting my cheeks, I shamefully passed forward my unwieldy two pages of jumbled words to my seatmates. To my surprise, I learned that I had received an A+ on the paper. I eagerly grabbed my paper and impatiently waited for that final bell to ring so I could show my parents the fruits of my labor. That endeavor was one of the many lessons I had learned over the years about writing, to be confident and to rely on your head to weave a story for
Self-Assessment Commentary Looking back, at the beginning of the course, I desperately desired to sharpen my writing skills to a great extent. The aspects I craved for improvement were to write essays more smoothly, to come up with suitable examples to reinforce my standpoints, and to convince readers through my essays. My plan to advance the writing skills was to read good English articles, to join writing workshops, and to go over academic materials. However, I only achieved one goal this semester, which is reading academics materials.
From my early years I found it extremely strenuous to comprehend and to gain interest while reading and writing. Reading, also writing has always been a challenge; this pushed me towards my interest in math and science. I longed to improve my reading level and my writing skills, but never could. To this day it affects my life, on my ACT scores I achieved a sixteen in English and a twenty in reading while I excelled in math and science scoring twenty-four in both. Reading and writing being life long skills I must progress and improve.
Reading and writing are not and were never very easy for me especially writing. As a young child it was very difficult for me, scenes both my parents only speak, write and read spanish. So I really never had anyone to help me and practice with me at home. I had to learn read, write and speak english basically on my own, but I got help from some teachers on the way.Throughout the years by having help by many teachers. I have learned so much and have bettered my writing and reading skills. I also have increased my vocabulary and learned to read and understand what I read.
Though it isn 't just about the writing that has captivated me over the course period, it is the fact that I had to undergo an evolution of what I considered to be okay in writing. Things I found to be passable are now considered to be mediocre in the expense that I did not pay attention to the small bits of detail there was. The course was not at all a challenge, however the real challenge
