My Experience’s with college So Far for this writing assignment, I’m going to go over some of my experiences that I had with writing. I’m also going to talk about my strengths and weaknesses with writing. As well as some of my goals for this class. also, to explain how writing is important to my major and to the field that I will go to. So, my most recent experiences with writing so far had been genr 91 with carol Copenhefer. I went through her class, it took two times, but I passed with a B the second time around. before that I did lab reports for mech 100 and mech 150 both classes required a fair amount of writing both class’s which I took at the same time each class had a report dew Wednesday and Friday. By the end of the semester, my binder was bulging from all the reports that we had to do for the two class’s. …show more content…
But some of my weaknesses are spelling, grammar and being able to start and finish a paragraph properly, as well as commas. But in any case, I try my best to complete the assignment at hand. my goals for this class are pretty simple I would like to pass this class with an c or better. Also, I would like to be more active in class and also to communicate better with my classmates, maybe make a friend or two. also, I like to learn a little bit more about English than what
My experience with writing in English class has mainly been a good one. Since I began writing essays in Elementary school I have been a decent writer. I am always working on my writing skills to become a better writer; there will always be room for improvement. Every English class I have taken has taught me new techniques, which helped to strengthen my previous writing abilities, as well as hone newly learned skills. Some of the aspects of my writing experience that I am going to write about are my favorite kind of writing assignments, my least favorite kind of writing assignments, my strengths and weaknesses as a writer, and my expectations for Freshman English.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
My goal is to receive only honor roll grades and participating in additional clubs and activities. When I achieve this goal by putting my mind to it, I can even see myself becoming one of the highest ranked students in my class. I am very proud of myself this semester and can say for myself that I have improved but there are some things I wish I did better. I should of worked just a little harder at getting my work done every night and instead of constantly getting distracted by the things around me, I should of focused only on study for my
Throughout my whole educational career I have always struggled in writing. In 2nd grade I had to stay at after school for writing tutorials to improve on spelling, in 4th grade I never went to recess because I was unable to finish my writing prompts in during the dedicated timeline, and throughout high school I would have panic attacks when trying to write essay. Finally, during my junior year of high school I discovered I have dyslexia. Since then I’ve found different strategies when it comes to writing my essays to reduce the anxiety it gives me. During the course of this semester in your class I discovered what my main strengths and weaknesses are in all my essays. The strengths I have in all my essays are my theses and main points,
As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
Writing has been my most challenging requirement through school. I am not a very experienced writer. I was not required to write much in high school until my last semester. My last semester in high school, about a year and half ago, I took GENR-091 which is the last time I have written a paper longer than one page. That was my most recent writing class; I am rusty to say the least.
As mentioned countless times above, during my time in this class, I would love to obtain the writing skill of writing papers that are more condensed and attentive to the matter I am addressing at that point in time. Professionals and even non-professionals will not want to waste their time reading something that could have been addressed in a fewer sentences and words. If I want to stand out in a crowd of equally educated occupational therapists, I need to make sure my writing is formatted and addressed in a professional manner. As a result, I am looking forward to learning how to make myself look as professional as I can in writing. Nevertheless, with learning to write proper papers and documents comes the challenge of making sure enough time is included within my study of this particular course.
Today, in the twenty-first century, it is not uncommon for a child to start writing essays, reports, or even journals for school work starting immediately after they are able to write full sentences. For me, this was not the case. As soon as I started to write letters I was trying everyday to form words, to complete fragments, and then eventually, full sentences. As a child for me, the idea of school was amazing. What could be better than going to a building to play with a bunch of kids your age and learning all kinds of new information, it was all so delightful. Ever since I was born, music has been one of the biggest influences on my life, in all aspects. This includes, but is not limited to the lyrics, the instruments, and the ability it
My experience with writing began in sixth grade, when placed in an accelerated program. One of the expectations of this program was a written essay due weekly. At this juncture, I do not feel I was properly prepared and only spent one year in the program. My high school career was mundane with surprisingly little chance to hone writing skills. My next brush with a writing course would not occur until I began my studies towards a degree in paralegal studies. Two courses within the program focused exclusively on writing skills: Legal Writing and English 102. Both classes elevated my skills but I feel...
Writing is not the most fun thing to do in the world, especially when one is entering college. I am the least prepared when it comes to college writing and have always found writing very difficult. I was taught how to summarize articles and how to quote in highschool, but I definitely did not try my best which results in my poor writing. I blame myself for not getting the extra help I needed during high school, but I only learn from my mistakes. No matter how much I hate writing, I have to push myself to do the best I can because writing is very essential in any career.
Based on my recent past experiences, writing has been a challenge for me. Beginning my first semester with King University, and being expected to write book reports, comparison essays, and answering discussion board questions was extremely overwhelming. My writing strengths were limited to determination and were based on my previous appreciation for writing. Initially, I felt ignorant and defeated by the whole writing process. It has been twenty-six years since I graduated high school, the writing format has changed drastically from what I can remember, I’ve had to come accustomed to the APA format of writing. As years have passed and time has changed there is a greater expectation with writing skills, keeping the new generation engaged in
Throughout this writing course I’ve developed strengths but of course there are still areas in where that I couldn’t seem to comprehend and those areas would be my weakness. Weakness that I have to improve on are making clear statements, essay errors such as grammar and spacing, and APA format. The strengths that I know I’ve developed and improved on throughout the course are arguing in essays improvement, and getting good sources to back up arguments. Both have defined my writing through this course and I will explain how so by looking through an essay that had to be done for this course. By looking through the essay I will be able to find evidence of my strengths and weaknesses.
I am still shocked to see that I can manage the few projects that I have at the moment. I've got 3 kids at home, and it's normally chaotic during the holidays (every parent out there knows what I mean).
Analyzing, competing, and logic all come naturally to me. These are indicators that I am more left-brain dominant. This may explain why creative activities such as writing have always been more of a weakness for me. This feeling manifested itself in middle school as I had several teachers who felt that my writing were sub-par. While I had heard of “math anxiety”, I began to develop “writing anxiety”. Yet, I witnessed first-hand, particularly in my summer jobs, how important the ability to write well is for one’s career and I knew I had to overcome my fear. I needed a well-designed program to strengthen my right brain and improve my writing skills.
I have fairly basic experience with academic writing. I excel in writing essays for courses in history, english, and art history, in high school as well as my first few years of college. I have experience with many historical and analytical papers throughout college and high school. I am able to write long (10 pages) papers with efficiency and organization and have always been commended for my writing skills. I am also an avid creative writer. I write a lot of lyrics/poems in my free time as well as a collection of short stories. Although I have had nothing published in the past, I dream of becoming an author and getting my writing out to the public. My strengths as a writer are my creativity, organization, and flow. I am able to think
