Every time when I have to do a writing assignment I have to go through the similar experience. If I have to make a list with all of my writing problems, the number one will be “Articles” For an ESL student, it is really difficult to understand when and what article should be used. Thus, articles “a” and “the” look tricky for me. Another problem for me is prepositions. Many times I am using “about” instead of “for”, and it does not make sense for me why “wishing for a new bike” is correct and “wishing about a new bike” is wrong. Using the correct verb tense is another issue for me. A lot of times I use simple verb tenses, and I am struggling with perfect verb tenses. Selah Saterstrom’s The Pink Institution is a novel set in the Deep South following the Civil War. It tells the story of a family over many generations from the point of view of the narrator (who is assumed to be the author of the novel). Saterstrom’s novel is considered to be a historic autobiographical gothic novel. Over the years, this novel has been the topic of many enthusiastic debates over whether the work is actually a novel or even gothic in nature. After reading and analyzing the work at length, there is no doubt that this work illustrates many themes found commonly in gothic literature.
Africans and African descended people tried to cope or more so resist their daily problems of being enslaved. Slavery resistance originated in British North America almost as soon as the first slaves arrived in the Chesapeake in the early 17th century. The most shared of all the acts of resistance was an effort to claim some amount of freedom against an establishment that defined people basically as property. Maybe the most common forms of resistance were those that take place in the work location. Slavery was ultimately about forced labor, and the enslaved struggled daily to express the standings of their work. Over the many years, ordinary rights developed in most fields of production. These tolls dictated work customs, distribution of rations, general rules of conduct, and etc. If the slave masters increased the workloads, provided insufficient rations, or punished the slaves too severely, slaves showed their unhappiness by slowing work, pretending to be sick, breaking tools, or damaging production.
In literature, tone is the attitude a literary works takes toward it subject and theme (Booth 147). The tone in the stories, "The Road Not Taken” and "Hills like White Elephants" are very decisive, strong tones toward the subject in each poem. In the story, "The Road Not Taken" the traveler has decided to embark down the path that is less traveled by others. Then in the story, "Hills like White Elephants" the man and the woman are trying to decide if they should have an abortion or not.

In 1943, with World War 2 in full throttle, Ayn Rand’s novel “The Fountainhead” was published. Written during a chaotic period in history, this book appeals to the reader's emotions by promoting individual rights, capitalism, and romantic realism. Rand advocated reason along with ethical and rational egoism and opposed collectivism. The main protagonist in the book is named “Howard Roark”. Howard Roark has a love interest named “Dominique Francon”. Dominique is in love with Roark yet she still wants to destroy him because Dominique thinks that Roark’s greatness is going to go unappreciated.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. I have never thought that essay writing could be so hard and stressful. However, when I started my first ESL course, which was ESL 263, I was proven wrong. First of all, I didn’t know anything about essay writing. That class was my first experience in English writing. I wanted to drop the class so many times. Essay writing was just so stressful. Researchers in criminology have at different times used either qualitative or quantitative methods in order to conduct studies into crime. Both methods are underlined by different epistemologies that characterise the difference in their uses by researchers. As I received essay 3 back, I realized I had the same mistakes from all my previous papers. I have a habit of missing words in my sentences. Usually when I write papers, I spend hours typing away at the computer screen. My words run into each other and everything made sense to me. The teacher suggested I read my papers out loud and that’s what I plan to do in the future. I also think time management contributes to this problem. In the future, I plan to manage my time more wisely so I can have time to come back to my essays and revise them. Hopefully my writing mistakes will diminish if I stick to this
