Every individual has a certain group of beliefs or values that they deem as very important to them in their lives. These value or beliefs could be a wide range of things and could be from a particular brand of music by an artist that members of society love to appreciating the importance of respect and friendship. It is these values or beliefs of the individual that can help define what he/she deems important in their life. For me, personally, there are a variety of values and things that hold significance for me and some of these things are like true friendship, honesty in my work, a good education and even little simple things like food! But out of all those things the one thing that I value the most in my life is education. I believe education …show more content…
The knowledge that I have acquired in my previous years of education, all the way from first grade, to freshman year of college, has helped define and shape who I am and also how I view my role in society. Being educated allows the people that I meet in life to treat me with respect and in return I treat them with respect. I personally believe that it is through education that we can become closer to other people because we can share our opinions and ideas with them and in return learn to respect their opinions and not be judgmental. Education has helped me confront other people who have completely different views on a specific topic and engage in conversation with them to understand their point of view while at the same time expressing my point of view. It was through learning the customs and traditions of my childhood friends that I was able to form a friendship that is still strong today. Education teaches us the value of patience and the importance of understanding all sides of the issue at hand. Being able to have a stable education throughout my life so far has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of my surroundings and of other people. The access to stable education allows the individual to learn and understand the ideas of reason and logic which help the individual combat any sort of problem
Which one is most important; our personal values or someone else's values? I think that my personal values are very important for me, and I should not be influenced by other unless I have the same feelings or beliefs. There is a huge difference between both stories; however, they have some common conflicts.
Everyone has their own personal values that the gain throughout their lives. Some of these values are passed down through the different generations of their family. Values can change over time and some people learn more values as they grow up. I personally have gained a range of different values in the past eighteen years of my life. My own values include: respect, honesty, empathy and trust. I gained the value of respect through my parents as I was always told to show respect to others and they would then show me respect back. When I was really young I had to respect other people’s things and their feelings. Through my parents I was brought up to believe that it is always better to be honest and tell the truth about everything. I feel that
What is the purpose of education? A question that has been asked for centuries and defined in many ways; each theorist will argue their views on education is unsurpassed, yet it remains a question, that the future of our children depends upon. My personal philosophy of education is to create an environment that allows every child the freedom and ability to discover, create and pursue their interests; ultimately becoming the best they can, for an evolving and unpredictable future. Within this framework, the purpose being to encourage learning through children’s interests, by personalising education for the individual and interlacing subjects to engage and entice learning. While discussing my personal philosophy of education, I will explain the aim of education, consider the role of the teacher and the learner and present effective teaching methods and practices for within the classroom. This essay will demonstrate that Dewey, Friedman, Neill, Noddings, Robinson, and Zhao, support my personal philosophy and prove in contrast with the theories of Skinner and Rousseau.
I have a long list of values that I find very important to me, but there is a few that stand out the most. Those values are family, friendship, hard work, responsibility, respectfulness, independence, equality, and honesty. My personal values are extremely important
My Educational philosophy is defined in becoming a teacher as a set of ideas and beliefs about education that guide the professional behavior of educators. Also included in educational philosophy are one’s beliefs about teaching and learning, students, knowledge and what is worth knowing. My five general purposes for philosophy of education are: to set goals of plan, to teach useful and relevant information, be aware of students learning styles, modeling positive cooperative behavior, to look for solutions and to make sure those solutions are working.
The first value I chose is family. Merriam-Webster defines the word family as, "a group of people who are related to each other”. However, to me personally, I feel that family is way more than just your relatives. Family has been a huge influence in why I’m in college today and has taught me right from wrong. Family is so important to me because they thought me how to build relationships with other people, how to love, how to get, always have my back no matter what, and know me the so well. Merriam-Webster defines the word health as, “the condition of being well or free from disease”. Health is very more important to me because I want to live a longer life and it helps me become more energetic when carrying out home/work tasks. Merriam-Webster defines the word knowledge as “information, understanding, or skill that you get from experience”. Knowledge is significant to me because it helps me have a better understanding of the world and how things works. Without knowledge, we as a society could not accomplish much in life. Knowledge is a key factor in every field because it helps us humans make ethical decisions. Merriam-Webster defines the word happiness as “the state of being happy”. I believe Happiness makes life seem si...
During everyone 's lifetime, there is always something we hold closest to our hearts; it maybe our principles we live by, values, and even our own beliefs. Values are those things that are very important to us but never really realize how much we actually value them in our life. Have you ever been asked to define three of your main values and rip them up? I have and I never noticed how much they meant to me. Each and every one of us believes in our own personal values. These values are what gives us strength and strive us to do what makes us happy. These values are very important to us and are standards that we live by whether we realize it or not. Everyone has something we value including me. Some of the values I might think highly of,
The main goal in life is to live by our beliefs and our values. These beliefs and values define who we are as a person and create how we behave towards others (Wright, 1). These beliefs and values can be defined as our personal core values. My personal core values include family, trust, honesty, friendship, and creativity, which define who I am, change from past to present, and could change again.
It allows people to gain knowledge on skills society deems important like the three R’s, which are, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Education also prepares young people on entry into adulthood and is therefore a form of socialization. An education system was developed in order for every child to be able to know basic skill sets before having to be on their own. This is a way to partially guarantee that the general populous of a society is educated on all the same basic functions. It allows a society to run more efficiently and effectively if everyone knows a standard amount of skills. Surprisingly, a basic education for all is a relatively new system. Before the 19th century, education was only reserved for the rich, white, upper class. Most jobs back then did not require an education or the ability to read and write. Education overall has had many positive effects on people’s lives. It is directly linked to the type of job a person has and the amount of money they make. For the most part, the better a person’s occupational status, the higher likelihood of a greater formal education, and with a better occupational status comes a better
My core educational values define what I believe is necessary tools students need to be successful. Such values are provided by the community of people (educators, parents, business partners) who touch the students’ lives. I value knowledge because without awareness of specific content, students are not able to truly feel a part of society. I value development of skills in order for students to apply their knowledge. When skills are applied, students demonstrate their knowledge and ability to function in our current world. I value critical thinking in our students so they can extend their knowledge and skills to solve complex problems benefitting our present and future. I value citizenship and feel that education has a responsibility to model and nurture character qualities in our students. Educating students is raising them equipped with tools that will enable them to function as contributing participants in a productive society. Knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and citizenship are educational values at the core of developing a student ready for the world’s challenges.
Understanding who we are as individuals can be a struggle for people throughout life. It can be difficult to comprehend who we are and why we exist. There are daily outside influences that help create who we are and what our values are. Values play a significant role in our lives. They shape the choices we make and reveal a big part of our identity to the world. Some values may be more important than others, but they still manage to influence our lives in one way or another, whether we know it or not. Values can range from a tangible item to an idea that has influenced us to stand by and remember those values. The values we hold with the highest importance act as a guide and help us prioritize our purpose and goals in our daily life. My family has taught me a list of values and traits that have helped me become a well-rounded individual. I value my family more than anything because most of my core inner values have started from their teachings at one point or another. My top values that I have developed from my family are dedication, honesty, and wisdom. I will discuss who I am in terms of the important values that shape my personal belief system and decision making framework that, in essence, describes the direction of my life.
Although all of the values on the list are very important, there are a few that are more important to me in that they influenced key decisions in my life, and my life as a whole. The first value that is extremely important to me is “Family”. I wanted to start off with this one because this is definitely the most important one. Family is what motivates me to do my best everyday. From my supportive parents
