1) I have not had too many leaders in my life. I have only had one job for about a year so all the leaders in my life have been either family or teachers. First off the main leaders in my life have been my parents. I know that is what most people say but it is the truth in my situation. I have learned a lot from them about leadership. The main thing I learned from them is to always respect others and believe in yourself. This is key because if I do not respect others then nobody will respect myself. I must treat others how I would like to be treated. Also being myself is important because everyone is different and the uniqueness is what people are attracted to. They always installed this mindset into me ever since I can remember. If I was …show more content…
My value of integrity will best guide my behavior as I attempt to live my life purpose. I value this most because whatever I do, I want to always be able to say I stayed true to myself. I believe a person who stays true to his or morals at all times has the best chance to fulfill life in the way they want. For example, one time on a weekend during my junior year in high school I was hanging out with one of my friends that I had met earlier that year. This was probably the fifth time I had hung out with him outside of school. We were at his house watching a movie when he offered me a cigarette. First off I have never done drugs in my life and never plan to because it is against what I believe in. So anyway I told him I did not want to smoke and he kept on insisting I do it and he would not take no for an answer. I told him to quit pressuring me but he did not stop. So after about an hour of him just trying to get me to do it I called my mom and she picked me up and I never hung out with him ever again. It could have been very easy for me to smoke but since it is against my morals I stood by them and did not take the cigarette. Whatever my life purpose tends to be I want to always be myself because that is what makes me unique and my own person. I want my behavior all the time to show integrity and respect to everyone and stay true to my …show more content…
I was bullied at one point in school so I know how it feels. So anyway I stepped in right away and told them that they should not be doing that and demanded they stop because it is not the right thing to do and how you should treat people. They did end up stopping and did not bully the kid anymore in the future as far as I knew. This is how I am if I see others treating somebody else badly. I will step in and make sure it changes. This is something I will do forever because I am a big believer in the Golden Rule. As a result, the main thing I expect from my people is just to be kind and caring to others and have a passion for what we are doing and have
2. The best lessons I’ve learned in leadership came from experience with bad supervisors, learning to not be like them. Being assigned to a higher position or holding a designation does not entitle anyone to be called “Leader”. Leadership is something that is earned, proved through action and investment of time. Coming up in the ranks, I can’t recall a time from Seaman to Petty Officer First Class I’ve looked at someone and said, “this leader had so much impact in my life and
Everyone has a different definition of what makes someone a leader. My definition is not a statement of requirements, but more so a list of characteristics. I believe it takes a strong, independent, dependable, open-minded, thoughtful, selfless, smart and creative, someone who can work well with others, able to work under pressure, respectful, and experienced individual to be a leader. I believe it is someone who knows who they are and know their morals, someone who has already found who they are in life and accepts who they are, making what I believe the most important characteristic is, is someone who knows and sticks with their personal values. If someone cannot respect values and stick to their word, then how can they be a leader of others? A leader takes a lot of work, but if you are good at it, it may seem like nothing. Some people are leaders and do not even know it, like role models. When little kids look up to certain people that have impacted their lives in a way, they will see those people as role models. Truth is, leaders are everywhere and not everyone knows or can see that. It's not always the person who stands out for taking control or being bossy, but the one with the characteristics and high values that do the right things, even when no one is watching.
In order for a leader to be a leader, he/she must begin with the assumption that you are the one who matters most. As a leader you have to possess that level of confidence in yourself that you are capable of leading yourself “before you can lead others”. And when you develop this belief then you are better able to affirmatively influence “on others”. A leader needs to “believe” in himself and have the confidence that whatever you say will excite and what you do can motivate others. You must be optimistic about what you do, to have some relevance to being in existence.
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help make a difference in someone’s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire and touch people’s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and bossing people around.
There are leaders that we see in every setting that we go through; these people usually come with different traits like being strong and ambitious. Being a leader is a quality that not everyone can achieve, but it is a quality that everyone should try and establish to move forward not only in there career but also in everyday life. Leadership comes with a lot of responsibility and is valuable in any society. Those people who are leaders are able make decisions for a group and lead a team while influencing their actions for the better. Leaderships stands a strong quality if they are able to leave an impression on their group or team members. What also comes with being a leader is accepting failure. When leading a group, sometimes situations occur that makes being a leader tougher than usual, but even during failure, when a leader is still strong and moving past the hardship, that tests there leadership skills.
Leaders lead. They lead by example, by demonstrating and living out organizational values, and by being seen. A good leader will never ask a teammate to do something they are not willing to do. Leaders also clearly understand the central purpose of their organization and ensure it is crystal clear to every member of the team...and they are relentless in pursuing it.
There are many different things I think of when I think of what leadership means to me. My idea of leadership is to be able to inspire others, get them excited to do something, motivate them and set an example to others. I also think that showing respect to others is a key part of leadership. You don’t just need leadership qualities, but you need to be a successful leader. To me being a successful leader is being able to have people follow you and not disrespect you. If you are a great leader your followers start to respect you more. To be a leader you also need to have certain qualities like being sociable, intelligent, have patience to deal with situations. A leader needs to be motivated or they will be a failure. I think I show leader ship all the time inside and outside of school. “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way (John C. Maxwell).
Some of the values that guide me to make decisions are my relationship with God, caring for my family and myself, caring for others, achieving my education, obtaining my career, and my integrity. My relationship with God keeps me focused on what is important. Care for others and myself, I will always try my best to help those in need, like my family, peers, and anyone else. My educational goals will lead to my desired career to be a social worker. My integrity keeps me sincere and honest in everything I do.
There are so many things that are important to me, but only a few that could greatly affect my life if I didn’t have or accomplish them. The biggest things to me are success, family, and freedom. These are all things that are essential to my life in so many different aspects.
Family is a value that my father taught me. He told me that family is
Values in my opinion should determine your priorities, and they’re probably the measures, you use to tell if your life is turning out the way you want it to. Knowing your own values can help you make decisions about how to live your life. The values that I believe in play a very important role in my life. These important values have been greatly influenced by my family and life experiences. My core values include family, health, knowledge, happiness, friendship, loyalty, trust, hard work, honesty, and learning.
The main goal in life is to live by our beliefs and our values. These beliefs and values define who we are as a person and create how we behave towards others (Wright, 1). These beliefs and values can be defined as our personal core values. My personal core values include family, trust, honesty, friendship, and creativity, which define who I am, change from past to present, and could change again.
When I was young, I wanted to have a successful career and stable life. I believed my life would be packed a bright future because my parents gave me lots of love and warm atmosphere at home. Now, I became a mother and I have tried to give my daughter same as my parents did. I knew that how much they sacrificed their life for me because I am doing. Sometime, I am living just mother or daughter. I lost my goal of my life and I forgot who am I. This paper is about me and who I am.
Values make up a large part of our life and influence the decisions we make. I will continue to live my life with honesty and I aim to become a person of integrity, my ambition and work ethic will help me develop into a better being. I don’t doubt that my values will carry me on to a successful and fulfilling life. Without my family and friends I would have not been able to reach the point where I am today, and I would not be able to personally grow and develop my own way of living and personal beliefs. These influences will help guide me to the path of becoming a decent man. Fortunately, I have my spirituality in hopes to continue growing and develop a better understanding of everything around me.
During my life, I have learned many things that I’m either expected to do or know. My family and friends have impacted my life in multiple ways that have shaped me as a person over time. These values that my family has taught me has made me the person I am today and most likely the person I will be for the rest of my life.
