I have reflected over my written prose of this past semester I have come to understand my strengths and weaknesses in my comments and short essays. I reviewed the goals of the course to understand how they a line with my abilities and future goals. My strength lies in in my ability for contextualization and critical thinking. My weaknesses are in my ability to write and frame an argument based on evidence within the text. The stated goals of the course helped me to outline my progress over the semester. However, for me, the most important part is my ability to move forward and better my written prose. In a review of this semester, I understand how I have progressed towards certain goals and how to move forward with my future goals in the semesters to come.
Reflections
Throughout the semester, I have gained the knowledge to assess the validity of my argument. As well as evaluate, the evidence in front of me. My written work within my preliminary comments reveal my progress within in my work. I noticed in my comment on Capetillo’s essay that I form a strong argument around the themes of Capetillo essay. However, in an earlier piece

The course revealed my strengths and weakness of my writing. I have come to understand the common grammar mistakes in my writing. This has been the most beneficial to creating a piece with a strong argument and critical thinking, because if I do not write clearly and concisely in my writing it harms understanding of my argument. Even as I wrote the first draft of this reflection, I noticed some of my common grammar mistakes. As I review through my preliminary comments and my short essays I start to see my mistake, and now I have the tools to fix those mistakes. While my writing is not perfect I leave this course with the knowledge and tools to understand the common grammar mistakes and it allows me to work towards creating clear written
After reading our mentors notes and analyzing what we have learned through this term, I have read all assignments that were submitted before our midterm exam. This gave me chance to follow up with how I advanced my writing skills from the beginning. As it was interesting to see how I can point out the missing qualities of these essays, it was nice to see our mentor’s notes justifying my points.
My development as a writer has flourished throughout this semester. The first week of this fall semester started out with writing responses from our readings in the textbook. Looking back through and analyzing my reading responses at the semester to now; I noticed a substantial improvement in not only my grammar skills, but also my summarizing, and in-depth studying of writing adeptness. Another way I have progressed this semester is the vocabulary of my writing has significantly improved and become more scholarly. Another advancement I noticed was that the content of my work has matured, along with my organizational adeptness.
As the first semester of my sophomore year wraps up, I begin to realize that I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The class that I learned the most from has definitely been my English 111 course. This class have given me so many opportunities to improve my writing skills. With all of the success I’ve had in this class, I believe I will do just fine with writing later in my life.
Throughout this semester I have learned many ways of writing through two main essays literacy narrative and comparison and contrast. These two essays have taught me how to correctly fix my comma splices, thesis statements, and capitalization. I have engaged in numerous learning material during this summer class. Many times when I thought it would be hard to work on those three developments I never gave up. I gain more positive feedback from my teacher because he pointed out most of my mistakes I made on both literacy narrative and comparison and contrast essays to help me understand what is it that I need to work on. My development as a writer became stronger.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
During the course of the semester, all of the writing and research skills I developed helps to strengthen my self-confidence in many areas and it aids me in achieving my goals for the future. By developing more effective research approaches for finding and citing sources, I advanced from an inexperienced writer to a confident writer with the suitable knowledge to create effective essays to capture my audience. Having confidence in my abilities to use the skills I learned will help me to become a success in college. With more practice and valuation of my strengths and weaknesses, I can continue to improve and become an excellent communicator in the future.
As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
When I began writing this semester, I had several noticeable weaknesses. As of high school, I slacked on using a higher level of vocabulary and added unnecessary words, making sentences lengthy. Another key aspect which needed improvement was how I worded things, tending to use the word “that” many times throughout my papers. Another example of a weakness was my struggle to formulate a conclusion and summarize the text. For me, this was a red flag, signaling the need for improvement beginning this semester.
This class has been significantly more difficult than any other English class I have taken all throughout high school. This semester, I have been introduced to different styles of writing that I have never been exposed to before. This class has been stressful, but also fun. With using all of the resources I have been given throughout the semester, I have been able to do my best to further my writing abilities and hopefully only continue to grow them as I finish my later years in college. Throughout this essay, I will discuss my failures, my successes, my overall performance in the class, and my skill development skills.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class, I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work to see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded.
My Strengths and Weaknesses in Writing Who said writing was easy? I personally believe that there’s no writer born perfect. Everyone has its strengths and weakness when it comes to writing including myself. It takes time and dedication to become a good writer.
The first half of the composition course was marginally successful in my opinion. There, I determined where my prose was weakest and how I could improve it. The topics in that course were also easier to work with, because the paper style was the only locked attribute. Therefore, entering the second half of the course concerned me, because I now had to write about literature that had possibly infinite numbers of ways it could be interpreted. Literary analysis is something I am acutely aware is one of my weak points. But I believed I have substantially improved in this area, best shown through the first two papers.
I believe that throughout this spring semester I believe that my writing capabilities have improved from last semester taking remedial English and has evolved even more now that I have graduated high school. I also believe that with the new methods that I have received which was using peer reviewing and using feedback to revise my essay will improve my future essays that I will need to use to improve my grades. Over the period of time that I was in this course, I thought it would be a very simple and easy to finish class. But as time went on, I found myself to be demanded more of what I think, what I feel, what must be relied on my ability to understand the concepts and conventions of not only the essays, but of what goes on in the writers mind when writing.
