After reviewing my written work from this this school year, I have determined my strengths and weaknesses in this course. By understanding the flaws in my writing, this allows me to better my skills and apply my thoughts. First, I do not write with enough attention to detail. I can improve my writing by being more specific with descriptions and adjectives. I tend to have a concise writing style, which has its pros and cons. I feel that I am able to address the main points, but fail to explain them to their full extent.
I write like I talk. When writing an assignment, I brainstorm all possible topics that may be used in an essay. This allows me to explore new ideas, and not be confined to square-minded thinking. The most important part of any
The art of writing is a complex and difficult process. Proper writing requires careful planning, revision, and proofreading. Throughout the past semester, the quality of my writing has evolved significantly. At first, I struggled with the separation of different types of paragraphs, and I found writing them laborious. Constant practice, however, has eliminated many of my original difficulties, and helped to inspire confidence in my skills. As a collegiate writer, my strength lies in my clear understanding of the fundamentals of writing, while my primary weakness is proofreading my own work.
Over my career of schooling my writing has changed dramatically at times and very little at others. Through my years of schooling people have determined my main weaknesses and strengths that I should work on with my writing. My biggest weakness is writing introductions and conclusions they must be so complicated and require so much thought to be defined as good. I excel at writing body paragraphs and explaining all the facts that back up your main ideas though.
As the first semester of my sophomore year wraps up, I begin to realize that I have learned a lot in all of my classes. The class that I learned the most from has definitely been my English 111 course. This class have given me so many opportunities to improve my writing skills. With all of the success I’ve had in this class, I believe I will do just fine with writing later in my life.
Throughout the semester i only learned few new things but i did improve and solidify my skill of writing. Before my first year of college my skills have always undermined by other high school english teachers and with that came disappointing grades. I am writing this paper as a reflection of the semester and the progress i have made as a writer. I now understand many things that my high school teachers have done a poor job demonstrating and i am grateful that i decided to take my own route in my education instead of their syllabus. I entered the semester with anxiety that i would perform as i did before but i clearly outdid my own expectations by receiving top grades on my essays.
First off thanks Mr Cole for being an awesome instructor that I really enjoyed being in your English 101 class. My second quarter of English writing class in college has very challenged both my researching and writing skills. I learned a lot of about myself, and I realized that the main thing I needed to work on in all my papers was really analysing information rather than just reporting on it. One of the most things that I liked about you and your English 101 class was your editing and your media comments. They were really helpful, made me easier to understand and realize my strengths and my weaknesses from all my papers. I think my biggest strength is brainstorming and revising. I have learned that I should do lots of brainstorms, outlines and give myself more time to find things and revise all my rough drafts to make them better. On the other hand, I always was stuck in using the punctuation mark such as comma, period and semicolon in my papers. Moreover, grammatical mistakes were also my weakness because
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
This semester I learned many new things in my English 1301 class. I took this class last year but I had to drop it because I didn’t have a professor explaining the work to me. And I really didn’t understand what I was doing. At first, I was scared to take this class. During my high school years I wasn’t that good of a writer. I thought this composition class was going to be hard since I sometimes thought it was hard in high school. My writing experience was good and sometimes bad. This semester in the composition class I had many writing strengths and weaknesses. These strengths and weaknesses is what helped me learn the errors I was making while writing essays this semester.
I believe it is important for any student who wants to do their best in a class to take a moment to evaluate their own work to determine the rate their writing is progressing and how they can continue to advance their writing. When I looked through my own work I asked myself “what have I learned this semester?” and “what do I still need to learn in order to improve my writing?”. Answering both these questions will help me with my last step of my self-evaluation, developing a plan to learn new skills.
As my English 101 class comes to an end, I have realized how much I have transformed as a writer. In this essay, I am going to explain what I realized my strengths and weaknesses are as a writer and how they have manifested themselves throughout the quarter. I was skeptical at first coming into this class knowing that English takes formidable work and dedication, but I am very proud of the progress I have made. We completed a great deal of work throughout the quarter; from grammar exercises, summary reviews, and two challenging essays. Throughout the quarter I found myself improving in each category. As a writer, my skills and confidence have developed into more clarity and thought, something I have always wanted to be, as a result of a well constructed class that led to a superb educational experience.
This class has been significantly more difficult than any other English class I have taken all throughout high school. This semester, I have been introduced to different styles of writing that I have never been exposed to before. This class has been stressful, but also fun. With using all of the resources I have been given throughout the semester, I have been able to do my best to further my writing abilities and hopefully only continue to grow them as I finish my later years in college. Throughout this essay, I will discuss my failures, my successes, my overall performance in the class, and my skill development skills.
Over the course of the semester, I feel that I have grown as a writer in many ways. When I came into the class, there were skills I had that I already excelled at. During my time in class, I have come to improve on those skills even more. Before I took this class, I didn’t even realise what I was good at. This is the first class where I felt I received feedback on my writing that helped me to actually review my work to see what areas I lacked in and where I succeeded.
This class has helped me realize my strengths and weaknesses in literature. This has allowed me to grow and realize that I am a work in progress. I am confident that by the end of this class my big issues in writing will be improved. Each assignment in this class is helping grow and is making me into the writer I know I can be.
Even good leaders have weaknesses and have room for improvement. One weakness that I need to work on is making sure my employees know that even though I have many qualities of an interactive leader I am still the supervisor. Lines can be blurry when using this leadership approach. Employees could misunderstand this style of leadership and when hard conversations are needed the employee can become confused and upset. I need to make sure that even though I am a friendly and open leader that my employees still understand that there is a line. I need to make sure not to go beyond that line and always keep our relationships professional. There needs to be a balance according to Rosener (1990).
One skill that I wish I had time to improve on is citing sources in MLA style. Through the course, I refused to seek help from my professor until week seven, one thing I regret doing. that could have allayed the fear and doubt I had about this course. Any questions I had could be cleared up as the course progressed. My essays through the subsequent weeks have demonstrated my strength and weaknesses. I do not have many strengths when it comes writing, but still I consider my greatest strength in writing to be being able to clearly understand the prompt and answer it correctly, especially with the analysis essays. I think this is just because I spend most of the scarce time on hand just to think about the prompt, for example, when I was preparing for my rhetorical analysis essay on globalization I thoroughly read both article on globalization by both Kwame Anthony Appiah and franklin Foer .An obvious struggle I have as a writer is organization and transitions. I tend to jump from one topic to another and sometimes cover. I should have used more transitional words in between sentences and paragraphs to make my reader understand the logic of my paper. I have not had enough writing experience and the writing process is difficult for me. I do sometimes admit that it takes days to complete one assignment, but it will be worth it when I become a proficient
My greatest strengths as a writer when it comes to creative writing is, so do I believe, my imagination and creativity. I have always sparked the stories that I have written with a certain touch of drama and excitement. I love making the reader wonder what will happen next by only ‘feeding’ him or her as much information as she needs to keep up with the events in my stories. I am also good at figurative language, by for instance using metaphors, similes, and other poetic devices is my stories, creating suspense and variety to keep the reader entertained. When I write essays, my greatest strength is the way I follow a strict order and through that provide a good structure.
