Don’t take our word for it - see why 10 million students trust us with their essay needs.
Someone once told me that a best friend is someone who tells you how they feel no matter what. Even though it may hurt the person’s feelings, I don’t believe that’s a true best friend. A true best friend should tell you things with kindness and support. In the essay “Secret Ceremonies of Love and Death,” the author realizes that she is soon going to lose her best friend. I wish I would have known when I was going to lose my best friend. The quote "We do not so much need the help of our friends as the confidence of their help in need" by Epicurus means to me that we may think we need our friends help but really they are the ones looking for help inside of us. Jamal was looking for help but I was no where to be found. I’ve always thought that if you lived with a person or known them your entire life they couldn’t be your best friend. Boy was I wrong. I’ve known my cousin my entire life and we practically lived together. Everywhere he went, I went. Every school he attended, I was right behind him. Yes, I was younger but so what! Jamal never disowned me or mistreated me. He loved his li...
The Quote ‘’ Your truest friends are the ones who will stand by you in your darkest moments; because they are willing to be brave the shadows with you, and in your greatest moments they’re not afraid to let you shine’’. To me this quote means you know who your true friends are because through the trials tribulations and darkest points they will show you light and be by your side. When greatness strikes they will be there to cheer you on and be happy for your successes. I agree with this quote because a friend is someone who is supposed to be there for you even when everyone else isn’t, someone you tell everything to and trust because friendship is something sacred finding a good genuine friend is hard to fine but once you do the support that was mentioned in the quote is natural. The two parts of literature that connect to the quote would be of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and The Freedom Writers by Erin Gruwell. The literary elements
A typical hero may be described as a superhuman with great, superpowers. Although, my hero can swim, run, and fly, without a cape. Only some hero’s represent courageousness, honor, truthfulness, loyalty, dependability, passion, commitment, dignity, or integrity. My hero does and represents all of them, and will respect all of these traits. A hero is a person who is brave in any conditions. They are proud of what they do and show passion and affection to show it. Hero’s show leadership in any way possible. My hero or admirer are the Marine Corps.
The most supportive of friends are manifest during life’s toughest of obstacles. They are the ones that help us power through the storm. Karen Karbo claims, “Most of us would prefer to think that we love our friends because of who they are, not because of the ways in which they support who we are. It sounds vaguely narcissistic, and yet the studies bear it out.”(156) while Yvette and I stated off as simple associates, she was soon to be reviled as my most supportive friend. She was just another co-worker. However, after our bosses went through a divorce, our most dependable co-worker moved, and another reunited with her drug habit, Yvette was the only one I could depend on. Together we became an unbreakable team. We could run the front office without any flaws. Since our friendship was growing we became even more supportive of each other, if one was slacking the other would step up and make sure the task was completed. We would switch off on answering the phones and taking on a challenging customer. Occasionally we would go out for a drink to destress from work. We had just started taking our girls out on play dates, and hanging out on weekends. One night my mom called me to let me know she had made other plans for the following night and I needed to figure out another arrangement for my daughter. Most nights I depend on my mom to watch my daughter so I can go to class, and when she is unable my sister will step in. In
In the novel, Legend, by Marie Lu, a character from the novel that could be considered a best friend would be Metias. He could be counted as one since he is caring. Best friends care about each other, they aren’t rude, and don’t provide hate towards each other. Throughout June’s life, Metias cared for her no matter what she did. For example, when June got in trouble for climbing the campus walls, fourteen floors high, Metias arrived in Mrs. Whitakers (June’s dean secretary) office to apologize for Junes actions, and bail her out of trouble. When Thomas was feeling down that June wouldn’t learn a thing, if Metias kept praising her for breaking the rules, Metias told him to cheer up. On page 19, Marie wrote “Cheer up, Thomas.” Metias reaches over and
friendship that it is so valuable? And, more specifically, how does this truth fit with
Readiness is of the utmost importance with training being the most significant aspect that contributes to Readiness. Each Soldier needs an individual training plan. The plan should take the Soldier from enlistment to discharge or retirement. It is each Soldiers responsibility to be proficient in their field craft. This includes being fit mentally and physically, and trained to win in a complex world. It is the responsibility of the NCO to train these Soldiers. Unit training plans will address the readiness and resilience of individual Soldiers to ensure their fitness to accomplish their mission. Units must conduct realistic training at the individual, squad, platoon and company levels focused on Mission Essential Tasks (METs) for their
From a young age, most people have gone through many relationships with other people who were not their family. Thus, we often acknowledge these relationships as friendships. But the word friend is too broad, so people categorize their friends into several types. In her book “Necessary Losses: The Lovers, Illusions, Dependencies and Impossible Expectations That All of Us Have to Give Up in Order to Grow”, Judith Viorst divided friendships into six types. Those are convenience friends, special interest friends, historical friends, crossroad friends, cross-generational friends and close friends.
He lost his best friend, who he spends a great deal of time living alongside. It is unjustifiable to lose a friend, especially for no reason or due to an uncontrollable disease while having to watch in absolute terror not being able to help, but only wish and prey. Subsequently, simultaneous to losing a friend he is struggling to progress on in life during school and extracurricular activities, “none of the boys had ever made overtures of friendship towards him” (Selvadurai 26). Imagine not having any friends in addition to feeling a sense of isolation, only being able to rely on
Take two kids, for example, who have been best friends since the first grade. Later in high school, one of the two friends is heading downhill with their life. This is a time when the friend needs the other friend the most. If the other friend isn't there for them, then it can be really hard. We depend on our friends to help us out.
On page 63 of Nicomachean Ethics Book 9, he states that it is absurd for an excellent man to not be granted a friend because friends may be the greatest external good. In defense of this, life would seem uneventful or lonely if someone did not have another to turn to either in most joyous times or the darkest of times. He goes on by asking whether friends are needed more in best or worst times of life , “ a question about weather friends are needed more in good fortune than in ill-fortune; for it is assumed that in ill-fortune we need people to benefit us, and in good fortune we need others for us to benefit” (63). Interpreting what Aristotle has stated, a friend will be there to praise your accomplishments and push you further in life, or he is able to encourage you and motivate you when you are distressed from an event that would be considered unpleasant. There is not envy in the eyes of a friend when a good man raises above expectations nor is there a hidden excitement when a good man fails; A requirement of a friend is to not be envious of a fellow friend but to be happy that your friend has reach their goal and to wishes the best
Everyone needs a best friend in her lifetime. She needs somebody that she can trust and go to with her problems. A best friend should be there for you all the time, no matter what the situation may be. In my case, I have known my best friend for my entire life. My best friend happens to be my younger sister, Brittany. She is only thirteen months younger than I am, so we are very close. Having Brittany as my best friend has made me into the person I am today. She has taught me how to trust people, how to resolve my problems, and how to open up and express my feelings.
We do not make friends because they are useful but the bond of friendship, once it grows stronger and stronger has a number of positive aspects. There are certain secrets that can only be shared with our friends only. When we are facing a difficult situation in our lives, only true friends come forward to help us overcome all the difficulties.
Have you ever wondered why your best friend is actually your best friend? Is it just because you have known them all of your life? Or is it simply because you just like to hang out with them? My best friend is as unique as they come. I have watched and admired his way of life over the past eight years.
Life is strange. I never thought that I would consider my one time enemy, my "best" friend. The first time I met my best friend was in the sixth grade. We both played on the same youth basketball team. We were both arrogant and bratty kids, who thought that the world revolved around us. With that much personality, problems were bound to happen. We made fun of each other and occasionally got into scuffles. Fortunately like all humans, we grew up and found a common bond that grew into a friendship.
What is a “best friend”? Almost everyone has one, and almost everyone is one. There’s something about a best friend that cannot be duplicated. Everyone has their own definition of what their own best friend is like and what an impact he or she has made in their life. In this essay I would like to take a better look at some of the simple things that we might take for granted when we think of our best friends.
