My Short Term Goals: A Career In Criminal Justice

My Goals
My short term goals academically is to pass all my classes this first semester, and my short term goal professionally is to just continue with my current job of working at target. I work at target 5 days a week and about 35 hours a week. My long term goals academically are to major in criminal justice, and my long term goal professionally is to become a DEA agent.
Why I Decided to go this Route
I have always been interested in the criminal justice field, I was always watching the ID channel on tv and I became very interested in the way they solve these crimes and the crimes that actually occur. When I first started talking to my parents about wanting to go into the criminal justice field I had only wanted to become a detective.

However my uncle found out I was looking into this field and he started to talk to me about his sister in law, she is in the DEA and he was telling me how she is always traveling around and doing all of these crazy things to catch these criminals. Hearing what she has done really interested me, and made me think about going into the DEA.
The DEA
The goals of the Drug Enforcement Administration is to enforce the laws of substances and regulations of the united states and bring to the criminal justice system those who are manufacturing or distributing those drugs, and/or any illegal substances. To join the DEA you have to pass five requirements, you have to be a us citizen, you have to successfully pass a DEA-administered drug test for any illegal drugs, completion of a DEA questionnaire and drug use statement to show your agreement with the DEA drug policy, successfully passing a background investigation, and if you're a male born after december 31 1959, you have to register with the Selective Service System. I plan on staying in this field until I am required to retire, or until I begin a family and can no longer stay in the field. Federal employees are capable of receiving health insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, annual leave, sick leave, and paid federal holidays. The starting salary ranges from $49,746 to $55,483 a year, within the first four years agents may advance and their salary can advance to $92,592 a year. I feel this job will challenge me, and push me to my limits. This job prefers you don't have a family though, and I would like to start a family when I get older.
