When I am asked what is my role in my family, I am lost in thought. Firstly, because of a paradoxical relationship between my family which means that my parents only want to do their own things but they still live together, I hold the opinion that I am the protector of my family. Secondly, I have two younger male cousins which are younger twelve-year-old than me. I watch and accompany them when they grow up and I want to be a good example in my family.
I was born in an ordinary family which my parents made enough money and we were a happy family at the beginning, but everything changed at one day. The relationship between my parents became worse when I was in the middle school. By the way, my elder female cousin’s parent divorce because of

In the whole family, I am a good example of my family. One reason is that I am the eldest grandson, which means that my grandparents and another old relative will have more expectation to me because of the Chinese traditional custom. In China, old people will more like the boys than the girls. Especially in some rural area, parents will not stop giving birth to a child until they get one boy. Although it is a wrong idea, it is hard to change old people’s opinion. Another reason is that I have two young male cousins who are closed to me like my brother. When the day old one was born, I went to visit him. When the time I saw him, I felt the sense of duty at the first time because that before he was born, I was the youngest child in the whole family. Every week my family and my cousin’s family will meet with each other to have dinner or just play at home. I helped my aunt to teach him how to crawl, walk, speak and so on. It should be a great experience that I imaged I did the same thing like him when I was young at the same time I taught him. I said to myself that it was time to know the importance of duty and to be a good example to my little cousin. I started to study well and cultivated more hobby except playing video games. For example, I began learning the basketball with my cousin in the same organization, but I was in the class which is higher than his. Now my cousin’s family move from China to America because of my uncle’s work and I am studying in America too. I will visit them when I was in my vacation. It is good for one person to watch a growing child, so he can understand more his parent’s hard work and to do better in the daily
When I was a child I thought everybody’s family would be the same, just your average family like mine and yours. My life as a child was a carefree life, I didn’t care for much, except stuff like doctors or dentist, I’ve done pretty much what an average kid did, I thought we had a good life going. When I went to my classmate’s house or meet their family they seemed like they were average to me. I never thought about how us as a family would have any trouble in the world, I was wrong.
Since I was six years old, my parents decided to divorce. I was shocked because we were six siblings. After divorcing, I lived with my father and he could not bear responsibility for my siblings and I. I was the biggest concern for him because I have twins and he could not be able to take care about two children who have same age. My oldest sister decided to take care of me and she became my mother. She helped me a lot and she became everything for me. Some days, I got some annoyance from my relatives. They
In 2009, American Broadcast Channel changed the way America viewed families with the premiere of the hit television show Modern Family. The show follows three families, Jay Pritchett’s and his two children, from his first marriage, Mitchell and Claire. Jay is married to a much younger woman, Gloria, who has a child from a previous marriage, named Manny. Mitchell lives with his partner Cameron and they have an adopted Vietnamese daughter, Lily. Claire’s family is the most like the traditional family. She is married to her husband Phil Dunphy and together they have three kids, Haley, Alex, and Luke (Modern Family). The show exposes the families’ struggles to get along and survive with such a different way of living. With that said, their family picture demonstrates very well all of the strong personalities and roles of each family member.
While taking care of my nieces and nephews they are to listen to me so I am their boss. Other roles I play are to comfort my family at times when they need it. I am the loudest of my family, and I am energetic I also seem to make them laugh. I am a teacher to my nieces and nephews and the same for the others who are older than me. While having dinners with my family we do activities to interact and have a fun time. I try to help when problems arise but they just take it in consideration. In my family we all share our responsibilities either take turns or we have
Family has played an intricate role in the development of the society in which we live. The diversity in which families are formed is now becoming even more diverse with the American culture, which is changing at a rapid pace. Diverse cultures coupled with social economic challenges are key contributors to the dramatic change to the institution of family. With these challenges facing the institution of family, this closely tightknit unit which has been the cornerstone of American society has diminishing from a traditional standpoint. Non-kinship family networks like the one described in Karen V. Hansen’s “The Cranes, An Absorbent Safety Net,” goes against the norm of the common institution of family within America. Although the Crane family
Family can be a many of things in your life. They can be the family you were born into. They could be some of your closest friends that you know consider your family. So they don’t have to be your blood or kin. They can be your friends as well. But if you have one or the other or are lucky and have both. They can be a major factor or influence on your life. From the person you marry to the job you take. From the places you go and see and to the people you meet in between. The people you consider family will always be there and influence those factors and many more. As much as you portray yourself as independent they will always act as a life line on your life. So family can help you in your personal life, teach you things as a person, be with
When it comes to family roles, some people have only a few and some may have a slew. I, for instance, only have two roles. These roles came to me when I was about fifteen years old, when I was just starting high school. I would consider me as the youth leader and motivator in my family. These roles allow me to interact with my family to a great extent and more importantly pay attention to my elder relatives when they have something to say. By generating a youth leader and motivator role, it makes me eager to assimilate the family history the elders in my family give me.
When the word “family” is discussed most people think of mothers, fathers, and other siblings. Some people think of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and even cousins and more on the pedigree tree. Without family in people 's lives they would not be the same people that they grew up to be today and in the future. When people hear the word family they think about, the ones who will help them in any way they can whether it 's money, support, advice, or anything to help them succeed in life. Family will forever be the backbone of support. They are the ones who support their children during those life decisions. Family is not always blood related. Finally family is forever, family will never go away.
I have many roles I play in my life, but the two most important roles right now are; a mother and a wife. Since I spend most of my time and day caring for my two year old son, I am always on the go. He is very high energy at this age and keeps me on my toes. I decided to do my wheelchair assignment on a typical and normal day I usually do with my son. My husband David came with us for support and assistance. My husband has a very demanding and rigorous job and he is often working a lot of hours. So it was interesting to see how this assignment would affect him as well as me.
Family structure can greatly impact the day-to-day activities of a family. A family with one parent may have a very different dynamic than one with two parents, or possibly even more parents. It is no surprise that these differences exist and families and that one’s family impacts their way of life. However, does it make a significant difference? Or is it simply a difference in how people react to their situations. That is what I wanted to learn from this assignment.
You spend a great time of your life with family who then influences your identity from the beginning of your life. From the beginning, we are given a set of expectations and values, which are learned from our guardians. We learn not only through these guardians guiding us, but we also learn by life’s examples and observing. As we grow older and mature we more easily understand the importance of values and know what is expected from us. And because we spend a lot of our lives around our family they are the primary influences to social identity, religion, confidence and many more. For example manners are usually taught in households at a young age by guardians, which influences identity positively. Family also influences good things like professionalism and confidence which will come in hand later on in
I like to think of family as the people God gives you to take care of in life. Psalms 11:29 states, “Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be the servant to the wise.” It is important to honor family. However, one does have a duty to help all fellow man if he is in the position to do so. Although, all members of the family are usually busy, family members should gather together in a meeting to discuss ways that they can spend quality time with each other. One of the best ways to bond within a family is to vacation together. This gets the family out of their normal habitat, usually in a setting where they do not know many other people. Therefore, the family members have to communicate with one another. It is also important to have time where daily such as over dinner where everyone is free of from distractions. During this time all cell phones and other electronics should be put away, in order to facilitate open
I was the youngest in my family. I came from a wealthy family. My father was a businessman. He always had to meet with his clients and business-partners but he never neglected his family. My mother was a housewife who always taking good care of the children. I have one elder sister and two elder brothers. Everyone in my family loves and adores me. Thus, I was being spoilt. My parents would give me anything I want and su...
The social institution I have chosen to address is that of family. An individual’s family life, both past and present, can have such a big impact on a person’s life in both a positive and negative manner. It is how we as individuals chose to handle life changing situations that will shape our lives and those around us. Family is such a fascinating social institution to study because every individual comes from a different family background or has a different experience than that of a sibling. You can learn so many things about a person by looking into their family background, origin and what type of up brining they had.
Many of us have role models in our lives and to most people role models are athletes and movie stars, but to me a role model is much more. To me a role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life, and is not a person filled with selfishness and greed. They help shape someone’s personality, and characteristics. They are people who someone can look up to for advice in a hard situation, and know that they will give those words of wisdom. They will never judge our past actions, instead only look to help because they really care. A role model is someone who we should never feel awkward talking to about our problems. A perfect role model for me is my mother. She is a wonderful human being. She’s smart, wise, ambitious, patient and such a loving person. There are no words that can describe my gratitude towards her, but through this essay I will describe some of her characteristics that makes her my role model.
