My Religious Belief I am a Christian and I believe in the Holy trinity: God, the Son, the Holy Spirit. • God is the most high God, all-powerful, all-knowing, the creator, full of unfailing love and truth, God is the only “true” God. He is the light. • Jesus is the son of God, he is God in the flesh, he came into this world for two purposes, to teach us how to live on earth and because God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, Jesus. Jesus died on cross for our sins, and is sitting at God’s right hand today. • The Holy Spirit is the spirit of love that dwells in each and every last one of us, it is not a part of the body so if the body dies, the spirit will continue to live. Because love never dies. All three, God, the son, and the Holy Spirit are one, which is love. A Christian’s core belief system basically boils down to what’s in the heart and in the heart should be nothing but love. Unfortunately, our heart’s isn’t naturally overflowing with the love. The heart takes time to blossom because as humans, we really don’t know what true love is, we only know the love the world has taught us and that love is selfish/ false. We learn true love when we build a loving relationship with God and that requires a lot of patience, faith, time and God’s help. At any time in our lives, we can have a loving relationship with God. He is God incarnate who became flesh to take away the sins of the world. However, unlike other monotheistic religions, the Christian belief in God is expressed in three parts: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This aspect of Christianity is very unique and is part of what defines it. Although some people may think so, God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not three separate beings. The conception of God in Christianity, Judaism, and Islam is monotheism, the belief in the existence of a single indivisible God. The three of religions maintains that there is only one God, who is active in and concerned about the world. These religions are also patriarchal, male-dominated, which has resulted in God being described as “He.” However, how Christians, Judaism and Islam conceptualize God in their respective theologies is actually quite different. In Christianity, God is the supreme creator and ruler of the universe. Muslims think that by believing in the Trinity, Christians believe in three Gods. For them, God is One God. The creed begins with the most general statement in the Christian rule book, the affirmation of God himself, “I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth” (Apostles’). The placement of the Holy Trinity is without a doubt in close proximity. Jesus Christ was the light that came to earth to brighten the lives of the people. He taught phenomenal and meaningful lessons that changed many hearts and caused people to accept Jesus as their Lord. Jesus Christ is the life of Christianity; the Word of God in flesh. His life, his ministry, and his crucifixion where prophesied long before he was born and Christians believe that they were all fulfilled. He had so much love for human kind that he came to earth to die for the sins of the people, so that their souls would be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The Bible testifies that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who taught memorable life lessons and performed astonishing miracles during his ministry.
The Christian teaching of the Triune God is fundamental to a right orthodoxy; and yet, it is commonly misunderstood. Although scriptural, it is a neglected doctrine, even among the evangelical community. It is not, as some suggest, a mathematical formula where 1+1+1 equals three beings. In many cultures and times, religion has been the basic foundation of life, permeating all aspects of human existence (Fisher, 2002). Religion is passed on from generation to generation. My religious beliefs were passed on from my relatives on my mother's side. My family has believed in the Catholic faith for many generations. Since I grew up in the Catholic faith I went to Catholic schools my entire childhood. My personal experiences and the Catholic faith made me into the person I am today. Without a religious upbringing I feel that there would have been something missing in my life.
