My Philosophy of Education I believe that education is a tool used to shape the generations of tomorrow. I wanted to have a positive influence on the future, so I decided to become a teacher. Teaching is one of the most worthwhile and influential professions because teachers come in contact with a vast number of young people and have the ability to light their lives. These young people are the future. As a teacher, I believe that a large portion of the responsibility for a student's education rests on my shoulders. I take this responsibility very seriously and I believe all teachers should. Teachers have a duty to provide knowledge-whether it is academic, social, or ethical in nature-that will help students as they embark on the journey of adulthood. Therefore, I think teachers should strive to put forth a good example of intellect, ethics, and personality. My personal goal as a teacher is to challenge my students so that they find learning interesting and stimulating. I believe that technology is a very useful tool to capture students? interest. Video games, computers, and television consume the world that in which my students live. Corporations use this fact to market their products to young people. So, I plan to use the same fact to ?market? education. There are many valuable, interactive-learning activities available for use in the classroom. I think the use of them can greatly enhance the learning process. I want to make learning meaningful and worthwhile to all of my students. One responsibility that I keep at the top of my list is to form personal, yet professional, relationships with all of my students. I want to know about their everyday lives?their jobs, activities, friends, and families. Knowing students will help me as I plan for instruction. Also, by getting to know my students, I can provide encouragement and support in the extracurricular realm, as well as in the academic realm. I want students to feel free to come to me for help.
Price discrimination can be defines as when a firm offers an “individual good at different prices to different consumers” The Library of Economics and Liberty elaborates on its pricing strategy, stating Comcast offers different pricing depending on what features the consumer desires. For instance, the cable company will charge a higher price to a person who uses several services as part of their cable package. Conversely, the firm charges a very low price to someone who would “otherwise not be interested” , providing basic services at a minimum price. It takes advantage of the regulation imposed on the cable industry by offering the required basic package at seemingly attractive prices. Using this pricing system allows for it to attract different consumers whose maximum price they are willing to pay differs. Recently, Comcast attempted a new billing strategy by introducing a data usage cap. It essentially expanded on the company’s existing price discrimination method by charging customers according to how much data they used each month. Comcast also utilizes penetration pricing, where it offers its product at low prices to attract new consumers, later raising the prices once the customer is subscribed for a certain amount of time. Generally it claims the original prices were promotional only, lasting only a small amount of
Candace Parker remains a beautiful, charming, and passionate woman who reflects her personality through her outstanding ability to play basketball. She has faced trials and adversities, but overcame them with triumph and victory. She holds countless achievements throughout her entire career starting at a very young age. Candace provides the ideal example of how raw talent cannot outdo hard work. Every single award, trophy, honor, and praise came through her blood, sweat, and tears. She continues to inspire women all around the world by staying humble in her efforts and making history in the realm of basketball.
Price discrimination is a significant and influential practice on the market in the modern economic world. It aids in a firm's profit maximization scheme, it allows certain consumers with more scarce resources the opportunity to purchase goods or services that would otherwise be usable, and it aids firms in balancing what is and what is not sold. Price discrimination is an effective means by which a firm can sell a higher quantity of goods, make a higher profit margin on the goods it sells, and builds a broader consumer base due to differing price elasticity of demand for given goods and services. Price discrimination ultimately equalizes price and value for both the consumer and the firm, creating a more ideal situation for both entities in terms of preference and opportunity cost.
Swarovski has been in the industry area since 1895 and it is one of the biggest companies in the world that creates and sells crystal, Swarovski [2010]. Our company operates in an oligopoly structure due to the following factors which are; many buyers seek to buy luxury products from companies like Swarovski as there are no buyer entry barriers. This is shown to our findings as from 1980 up to 2005 the population was increasing rapidly and from the average we get that when population increases by 1% the quantity demand of the company increases by 2.79% and gives us satisfying results. On the other hand there are some seller entry barriers and this leads into having a few sellers. The seller entry barriers may provide that the already existing companies protect their profits and revenues well and prevent other competitors to entry. The company offers consumption goods that in a certain way satisfy the luxury needs of a consumer and this has been achieved through the specific details on the crystals. Overall this brought the market power to our company that more or less it also helps Swarovski of not being too much competed by other companies. Let us assume that as an oligopolistic company we have the opportunity to use price discrimination in order to increase our profits, would this work for our company? In general our company has to use market segmentation before charging in different prices and identify the needs of the customers that are homogenous and the profilers that are based on different industries, geographic locations, nationalities, ages and incomes. This would help selling in the right prices to the right groups and avoiding any misunderstandings on the way we choose our prices. Price discrimination would also work...

Dance is a word heard all too often in my household, with two sisters that dance, a mum that danced, and two cousins that danced professionally overseas. I often find myself wondering why I never took part in the sport that defines my family. After much thought, I deduced the main reason I don’t participate in dance is simply because I enjoy more friendly, teamwork orientated competition, however, through this process I came to realise several barriers which affects the access and equity of dance to several members of society.
Children are affected by domestic violence in a variety of ways and it places children at risk “emotionally, developmentally and physically” (Sully, 2008). Therefore, children are often unintentional victims of family violence and they are placed, at an increased risk for physical and sexual abuse in families that are prone to domestic abuse (Sully, 2008). Furthermore, children are more aware of the violence in the family than the parents can envisage (Sully, 2008). As a result, some children are emotionally affected by this violence while others remain quite intact (Sully, 2008). Therefore, based on the above case scenario, the children should be removed from the toxic environment and placed in temporary state care. The children should receive counselling for the incident, they witnessed, to reduce the impact of the trauma they might have suffered. The children have witnessed this aggressive behaviour repeatedly, therefore, counselling is essential to ensure that they do not normalize the behavior. Furthermore, removing them from the abusive environment temporarily could prevent the children from becoming desensitized to the abusive behavior and can serve as an interruption to a possible cycle of violence as they grow
Some say that technology is a distraction and hinders the students from fully learning and developing important skills that they claim only the interactions with the teacher can provide. Teachers have said that technology is a powerful tool that allows them to introduce and demonstrate learning activities in a completely new way. It has been studied and proven that most kids are more motivated and interested in the concepts they are supposed to learn when the teaching tool of technology is used. A fifth grade teacher stated, “Technology is the ultimate carrot for students. It's somet...
Paradoxically, as China get more integrated in the world economy and plays by the rules of the West as depicted by their entrance in World Trade Organization (WTO), on the other hand they have established close political and economic relations with African countries. These relations will be of use when the West tries to threaten domestic interests, it is a defense mechanism. The notion of China trying to restore their rightful place in global economy and the leader of developing country is noticed by many as a means of influencing policy (Breslin, 2005, p.190).
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
It is estimated that at least 3.3 million children witness physical and verbal spousal abuse each year (Jaffe, Wolfe & Wilson, 1990). In England and Wales, more than 34,000 children attend domestic violence refuges yearly (Rivett et al, 2006). However research on the effects that domestic violence has on children did not appear in the research literature until the 1980’s (Fantuzzo & Mohr, 1999). Witnessing domestic violence does not essentially mean being within visible range of the violence and seeing it occur. Many children describe traumatic events that they have heard but not necessarily seen the actual violence happen (Edleson, 1999). Children can also indirectly witness domestic violence by seeing the effects it may have for example the
I chose education as my career path because I hope to be able to make a small difference in a child’s life. Time and time again I have seen children being educated poorly and/or not having appropriate role models in their life. I feel that an educator must not only be able to convey to the student the classroom material, but also be a counselor, coach, mentor, and a parent. Failing to fulfill these roles gives a child the chance to slip through the educational system without having the opportunity to influence them to some degree.
I believe that teaching is the most important job known to humanity. In fact, I do not believe it is a job, but rather, a debt payment to society. Education is important because it not only opens doors to a better life, but it also insures one a happier life. It develops in us a perspective of looking at life. It makes us capable of interpreting rightly the things perceived. Without education, we as a whole, would be further behind in the world and would not have as much technology as we do now. Education also equips us with all that is needed to make our dreams come true. It is because of education that we have the comfortable living style that we have today. For those who are troubled, education acts as an outlet to success. It is education that builds in every individual a confidence to make decisions, to face life, and to accept successes and failures. It instills a sense of pride about the knowledge one has and prepares him/her for life.
Technology properly used in the classroom has many advantages to a student’s learning. Technology can help students become more involved in their own learning process, which is not seen in the traditional classroom. It allows them to master basic skills at their own rate rather than being left behind. Teachers and students alike can connect to real life situations by using technology in the classroom; this can also help to prepare students for real world situations. Technology can be used to motivate students as well as to offer more challenging opportunities. It can also be used as a visualization tool to keep students interested in the subject that is being taught. When technology is used effectively, students have the opportunity to develop skills that they may not get without the use of technology (Cleaver, 2011). Assessing and monitoring students is easier on the teacher because of the ability to use technology in the classroom. When technology is used correctly it offers limitless resources to a classroom atmosphere.
I believe that teaching is one of the most important careers that one can have, granted that there are many more jobs that come to mind that have more importance, but they all started with education. Without education society is left with nothing. Although, teaching isn’t just about giving the students the information, it is about building critical thinking, communication, showing their creative side and having them to embrace the information in order to achieve higher standards. I think that education is truly the foundation.
