My Philosophy as a Teacher
I want that “A” assignment displayed on David’s refrigerator. I want Julie to recount that discussion about Elie Weisel’s Night to her friend on the bus, and I want them to feel enlightened and emotional about it. Years from now, I want to hear Jose tell his son about the class where he realized he wasn’t stupid and could write well. I want him to write a story about it.
I haven’t taught a David, a Julie or a Jose yet, but one day I want to have that kind of effect on my students. No matter how a child feels about school, it plays a tremendous part in a child’s life. Teachers can brighten or burden a student’s day, every day, depending on how a teacher conducts her class and how she relates to her students. For this reason, I believe I must teach more than just English and more than that which can be measured by grades.
I believe a good teacher can give a student the skills and self confidence that may propel that child through life. Whetting a child’s interest in learning and pushing a child to prove himself capable of obtaining and improving on his talents, is of vital importance. Having been a student for nearly sixteen years now, I believe that in order to be an effective conveyer of skills and knowledge, I must always plan, be organized, structured and make my expectations high and clear for my students. Whenever possible, I must streamline and simplify complex ideas in order to help students grasp new skills and concepts. Teaching freshly, creatively and entertainingly is also highly important.
As an English teacher, I want to guide my students closely through their writing processes, emphasizing the revision process, which I find to be crucial in learning to write well. I want to help alleviate the intense stress that students sometimes feel about writing by making them write often. With practice, I hope to make writing feel natural and enjoyable for even my most English-hating students.

Traditionally, companies have considered activities, such as procurement, maintenance, distribution, and inventory control, as the most important elements in logistics. According to Buxmann et al. (2004), supply chain management not only takes into consideration traditional logistics, but also incorporates customer service, marketing, finance, and product development into the supply chain. Supply chain management views organizations, their products, and the supply chain, as one entity, and aims at understanding, managing, and controlling the various activities that enable the smooth flow of goods or services to the customer (Buxmann et al. 2004).
Along these two weeks we have been prompt to make a recall to our own way of learning and why we became a teacher: Was it because coincidence, due to life circumstances, maybe because family tradition, was it a conscious decision or because someone influenced us? Whatever the answer is, we have to face reality and be conscious that being a teacher does not only means to teach a lesson and asses students learning. It requires playing the different roles a teacher must perform whenever is needed and required by our learners, identify our pupils needs and preferences, respecting their integrity and individuality but influencing and motivating them to improve themselves and become independent.

When I was growing up, I remember attending elementary school, learning a new language seems to be difficult at first, but I was able to learn the English language because of the dedication of one of my teachers. Now, as I reflect on this experience, it is obvious that she was dedicated and enjoyed teaching her students to be successful. I know today that she made a difference in my life as I navigated through my education experience and high school years to present.
How does a teacher assist students in bridging the gap from phonemic awareness and knowledge of sight words to adequate fluency and comprehension skills? How can we reach all students within our classroom? It is very important to remember that general comprehension strategies encompass two main categories of cognitive processing: top-down and bottom-up strategies (Farr & Conner, 2017). These two kinds of processing may be addressed through any of the standard comprehension strategies. Text are placing demands on the student’s linguistic abilities, memories, conceptual analysis, and knowledge of the words (Shanahan, 2017). The teaching of reading comprehension should focus on how to help students overcome these barriers. (Shanahan, 2017). Major attention needs to be put on reading and making sense of the text instead of answering a list of questions about the text. (Shanahan, 2017).
