Life philosophy changes with time and experience. The philosophy of life is one of those things in life that keeps changing even though it is expected to be constant. The more wisdom and knowledge one have, the better the orientation and view about life that one will have, which will lead to having a proper philosophy of life. The philosophy of life has nothing to do with being either a student of philosophy or not. Although, being a student of philosophy will help a great deal in deciding what one is considered a philosophy or viewpoint of life. It is not an easy thing to come to conclusion about the philosophy of life. So many things are involved before one can say this is or these are my philosophy of life. Knowledge will play a major role …show more content…
In general, philosophy of life is a statement that is used as a yardstick in making decisions throughout one’s life. This statement helps someone in achieving goals, choosing a career, becoming a better person in life and so on. It is this statement that patterns and direct one’s life. One thing that has shaped my philosophy about life over the years is the knowledge and experience I have about life. Even though there are some of my views about life that has not really changed since I was a young boy, my environment, my experience, and my knowledge have played roles in fine-tuning my philosophy about life. I view the world differently and with different perspective thanks to the little things I know about life. My mission statement or philosophy of life as I was growing up was being industrious with the right attitude will bring success- work hard and you will be successful. In the community and the family I came out from, we hold hardworking in high esteem. Hence, my philosophy of life has been that I can achieve whatever I want to achieve in life with hardworking and right attitude. I always believed that with a hardworking and a right attitude that everything in life can be accomplished. How wrong was I to discovered later in my life that hardworking and right attitude alone cannot bring all the success that I desire and dream about? Hardworking and right attitude must be galvanized with perseverance, courage, integrity, and commitment to attain success. I consider perseverance, courage, integrity, and commitment to be the four (4) core values of life. My experience and knowledge about life have thought me that these core values are so essential to having good success. As a student of philosophy, I believe in fate.
Living is about making choices. The choices people make shape their lives for better or worse. Even the decision not to choose has its effects, often not wanted. But the individual who chooses to make positive choices and to act accordingly is more likely to see his or her life reflect his or her beliefs and desires. Usually the individual who chooses to take action is also willing to face the risks and obstacles that such choices involve.
Philosophy is a very important part of people’s lives. Philosophy is quite basically asking inquiries about existence, reality and nature of knowledge. To better understand philosophy we must look throughout history. Looking back through history helps better show what the philosophers thought during the time period in which they lived. The relativity of the theories, to the time period, is a very important factor in how efficient these theories they were. The first philosopher’s ideas to people today would be considered either very basic, or insane. Yet, in the time period they lived in, they were considered to be geniuses. Also, looking back through time and studying philosophers and what they believed can help create a better idea for our own philosophical creations. The first philosophers were also known as the Presocratics. They were called this because they were in a time period before Socrates was born. They mainly focused on answering what is the explanation of nature, also referred to as metaphysics. Even before the Presocratic philosophers, we need to look at the ancient Greek poets that created myths and examine how their stories came into being made and how it had an effect on their civilization. These myths are a part of Philosophy because they were the first ideas about creation. The transition between these mythic worldviews and pre-Socratic philosophers’ worldview was important because it lays down the structural work for great philosophers to learn from them and develop further theories based on their findings.
For the dancer, music and choreography are paramount. The music guides the dancer, and the moves express the music. However, the dance has to start from somewhere.
As time advanced so did thought, and slowly more and more complex ideas regarding the purpose of life emerged. All of the earliest civilizations had great thinkers who tried to unravel the mysteries of life. Like most religions, philosophy became something composed of multiple interpretations. Philosophers pondered the most important life questions, each taking their own stance, and providing numerous significant realizations.
Speaking in a certain sense, philosophy of life of Christianity and Buddhism are ethical philosophies. Both their philosophies of life encourage man to tend continuously towards goodness in this life (the ways to tending towards goodness or the standards of utmost goodness are the same "love and benevolent"), and guide man to the moral practice of life which tend towards utmost goodness, and furthermore, provide ultimate philosophical ground for that. As for the significance and roles to actual life, the Oriental and the Western philosophies of life reach the same goal by different routes, both worlds make human life more meaningful and this world a better one.
For majority of life I’ve gone through the motions and have done as I have been told to do. Naïve and ignorant to how amazing life really is and refusing to question how things work or what my true purpose is other then surviving. For centuries there have been numerous philosophers to question what our purpose is and have developed different theories to help us get as close as we possibly can to finding the meaning of life. One thing I’ve learned since opening my eyes to the reality of the world is that in our lifetime the closest thing we will have is theories and ideas but we will never know the true meaning of life.
Oprah Winfrey said, “My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” The Consolations of Philosophy, written by author Alain de Botton, is a perfect example showing six philosophers who had philosophies that were relatable and applicable to bettering everyday life. Socrates, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Seneca, Epicurus, and Montaigne each have a chapter based after them, where de Botton discusses their philosophies. What these great men were doing and saying wasn’t always seen as right, and they were often viewed as crazy, but their goal was to show people how to make life easy to get through while putting them in the best place for future success.
I believe that Philosophy is the study of different ways of thinking. In philosophy, you should question everything and never take anything for face value. There are always two sides to every coin as there are different ways of looking at things, is what philosophy teaches us. In philosophy, you must throw off all the limitations you have set on yourself when dealing with how you view things and how things seem to be.
Human life is full of meaning. As humans, we assign value to many things. However, what happens when we assign a specific value to a human life? This is the issue being presented in the article, “What is a Life Worth,” by Amanda Ripley. The government is determining a monetary value to a human life, and it does not appeal to the masses. There are many problems with the cold calculation, and most people cannot see the other side of the numbers. The economic value of a human life is calculated based on the income the person was receiving, but when the check is given to a loved one of a small amount, the compensation is misinterpreted as an overall value of the human life. The true value of a human life should not be combined with the monetary value that is determined by the government, or the value of life would be worth very little.
The term “philosophy” means the love of wisdom, and those that study philosophy attempt to gain knowledge through rationality and reason. 1 Socrates, the father of ancient philosophy, once stated “the unexamined life is not worth living”. This is the most important part of life and it is need to find purpose and value in life. If a person chooses to live their life without examination, their life would lack value and they would be unhappy. They would also be ignorant to the effects of their choices on themselves and the people around them.
When Christians first encounter the idea of creating a spiritual discipline, some almost instantly become overwhelmed with anxiety because they must perform well for God to please Him and get to heaven. I was once one of them and to a point, I still think that way. However, the more focus on the relationship with Jesus and nothing else brings about the desires to want more in terms of spiritual growth. Desires however, do not last if disciplines are not met with a genuine commitment to maintain a fervent relationship with Jesus. For my rule of life, I will pencil in daily life disciplines that fit in the season of life that I am in currently so that God can work in me and I can become Christ like. First, I will commit fifteen minutes to daily prayer with God. Second, I will commit fifteen minutes to daily scripture reading. Third, I will commit to lead, encourage and support my wife by living out the vows that we both agreed to with God. Fourth, I will commit myself to my family in raising my two

Philosophy as an activity is not simply a way of living like many people have come to believe. It’s a journey, a journey where the philosopher finds them selves constantly thinking. Constantly thinking and questioning authority until you get what you are looking for in a statement. Philosophy in so many ways is similar to trying to look at the inside and outside of a door at once. At first you may think it can’t be done, but then you ask question, which reveal answers and outlets that lead to more question and you realize that there are so many more ways to look at the door, so many more ways to look at the world. So many more ways to look at philosophy. Philosophy as an activity is looking at a door.
Death is something that causes fear in many peoples lives. People will typically try to avoid the conversation of death at all cost. The word itself tends to freak people out. The thought of death is far beyond any living person’s grasp. When people that are living think about the concept of death, their minds go to many different places. Death is a thing that causes pain in peoples lives, but can also be a blessing.
There are numerous lessons that I have learned from life, they were lessons that I learned from good and bad experiences in life. Different experiences from school and out of school that has made me the way I am today. There is a long list of experiences that in reality did not teach me much.
