My Personal Philosophy of Education Education is the key to a successful and fulfilling life. The purpose is to give each child an equal opportunity to achieve his or her goals. I believe that the overall purpose of education is to prepare for the future. Education is so important to one’s life that educators cannot merely teach in one manner. To truly teach someone you must dig until you find a way for him or her to completely understand. That’s why I think that teaching is going to be a great challenge everyday. As a teacher I will have a whole classroom full of individuals with different learning styles, different strengths and weaknesses, different attitudes, different lifestyles, and different motivations. Because of this, I will have to use an eclectic mix of approaches and teaching styles. As a teacher I feel it is my responsibility to prepare my students for the inevitable changes that will occur in their lives by instilling confidence and knowledge while presenting myself as a good role model. Teachers play such an important role in a child’s life, sometimes being their only source of encouragement and support. As a teacher, I want to know my students; their personality, learning style, and academic level, so I can meet their needs and create the best learning environment possible. I will bring into the classroom my open-mindedness, my respect for others, my willingness to listen before making decisions, and my love for knowledge. I hope that by ...
Kolker, R. (2000), A Cinema of Loneliness: Penn, Stone, Kubrick, Scorsese, Spielberg, Altman: Third Edition, Oxford: Oxford University Press.
The Renaissance was started by many rich Italian cities, such as Florence, Ferrara, Milan, and Venice. Because these cities were very wealthy, many merchants started to spend money on different things, such as painting, learning, new banking techniques, and new systems of government. These things gave rise to a new type of scholar, the humanist. Humanism was subjects concerned with humankind and culture. They studied various things such as Latin, Greek language, literature and philosophy. Music and mathematics were also studied as well.
Schindler’s List, Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Jurassic Park, notable movies all directed by the inspiring person; Steven Spielberg. He even produced the Transformers series. No one really knows who Steven Spielberg really is, however, everyone is familiar with the movies he has produced and directed. Steven Spielberg was born December 18, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio.2 “To deal with stress he would make movies which would be his shield against bullies at school, trouble at home, and any issues he dealt with.”1 He was the oldest child of three sisters. He loved to frighten them even though, surprisingly, he was scared of the same things they were, however, he learned to overcome his fears by making his sisters more scared than he was. Even though he had a rough time at school, making family movies gave him more self-confidence. Steven Spielberg and his dad did not get along as much because his dad was more of a practical person and more of a workaholic. His dad was trying to provide for his family any way he could. His mom was more of the artistic and creative one and, she was the one who convinced Steven Spielberg to use his feelings to make great movies. His mom was the one who got him his first camera. Steven Spielberg acknowledged his mom as the inspiration for his movies. He and his father clashed often as he transitioned into high school and his dad pressured him more than ever to follow him in his footsteps. Steven Spielberg had little interest in math and science. In high school, he was ostracized because being social and outgoing did not come natural to him. Unfortunately, he could not seek refuge in his parents because they were going through a stressful period in their marriage.3 His father was, often, on business ...
Steven Spielberg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 18, 1946. Spielberg lived in a family of six including him, and he was the eldest of his siblings. His sibling’s names are Anne, Sue, and Nancy. In his early years he was forced to do a lot of relocating because of his parent’s jobs. His father Arnold was an electrical engineer and his mother, Leah, was a pianist. As he was growing up he had some complications to overcome, such as his parents’ divorce. “They hung in there to protect us until we were old enough," the filmmaker wrote in Time. "But I don't think they were aware of how acutely we were aware of their unhappiness.... When the separation finally came, we were no better off for having waited six years for it to occur” (“Steven Spielberg,” Authors). Not just that, but Steven had a hard time fitting in school as well, he was being teased because he was the only Jewish boy in his school. Spielberg’s religion and parent’s occupation made it hard for him to form friendships in school. At a young age of 13, he started making short films with his family’s help. Spielberg’s family contributed majority of their time to help Steven on his films. He submitted...
The Renaissance which translates roughly as a rebirth and fresh thinking which lasted from the 14th through 17th centuries attempted to reapply the ancient intellectual learning of the Greco-Roman Civilization. The thinkers and artists of this new era differed remarkably from their medieval counterparts. Broadly speaking, Mediaeval period was a period predominantly dominated by Christian outlook. Moreover, All of the Civilizations regarded as ‘Heirs’ of Rome paid significant tribute to their respective religion. Thus, it can be safely concluded that religion and politics were interwoven in Medieval period. The Renaissance, however, represented a dramatic transformation from the Medieval outlook. Secularism humanism and individualism were three aspects of life that appeared in the Renaissance and each of those three aspects had a great impact on the socio-economic and political structure of the era.
The idea that that partisanship and ideology influences judicial decision making is nerve-racking. Why should one’s beliefs be intertwined with policy decisions? However, it is a rare occurrence when policy decisions, courts ruling and lawmaking is not affected by either an external or internal factor. Some external factor influences are the mass media, protest, and interest groups. While some internal factors are the individual philosophy, cultural, legal implications, and politics. In judicial decision making a justice’s conclusion is based on his or her internal factors. Some justices are a strong believer of judicial activism which is the a broaden and expansion of one’s rights, liberties and equality. While some justices have a narrower
...n the making and changing of laws. If a citizen of the state believes his rights have not been upheld he can apply to the Court in Strasbourg to take up his case. This shows the major influence the EU has in the laws of the country. The Judges in Strasbourg court have ordered the Judges in the UK to make their decisions on the precedents the EU courts have issued. The judiciary is important in law making as it has a major secondary role in making laws. The Judiciary role is to impose the laws that have been created by parliament, the judiciary applies these laws creating precedents and these in itself become a kind of law. This question on the role in the judiciary quoted is one that I agree with. The Judiciary only creates law through opportunist ways of interpreting the law and it is disbarred from the process as it is not elected by the citizens of the state.
The judiciary department's main function is the interpretation of law and the judging of laws given a present context and conditions. This department differs greatly from the executive and legislative branches, due to a lack of muscle that the executive branch controls and the use of money being restrained by the legislative branch, the judicial branch seems fairly un-forceful. However what may appear as a department lacking "force or will", beneath the surface the potential and the ability to judge and interpret law can not be under estimated. Hamilton in the federalist 78 document lays out the function and internal processes of the judicial branch in such a way that it appears as though all the branch can do is judge. Despite Hamilton's view of the judicial system, in recent times the courts have decided who shall be the next president and has has shown to posses the powers of the legislative branch. Hamilton said "The interpretation of the laws is the proper and peculiar province of the courts. A constitution is, in fact, and must be regarded by the judges, as a fundamental law.
Spielberg has shown his ability to differentiate himself from other filmmakers through his unprecedented ability to technological changes. Clearly many filmmakers have attempted to emulate both the artistic and managerial styles of Spielberg, but his ideas have been transformative. Based purely on the numerous accolades Spielberg has received, he has differentiated himself from others. What really differentiates himself from other filmmakers are his unrivaled cinematic techniques. His ability to use high tech computer graphics and complex editing techniques show his desire to produce inspirational works of art. As a result of his collaborative, yet controlling nature, Spielberg has been the first filmmaker to produce things in certain instances.
The renaissance commenced the beginning of the world of modernity. This “revolution” was centered in Florence, Italy in the midst of the 14th century. The fathers of the renaissance (known as the humanists) set out to restore the best aspects of Western civilization such as science and technology. The Renaissance symbolized the transition from the medieval dark ages, into a high point in European history. During this time, there was a shift in philosophy, thought and education. The rebirth of technology and science, the age of exploration, the age of individualism and the rise of nationalism and capitalism’s foundation all lie within the period of the Renaissance. The reason why historians call the Renaissance the birth of modernity is evident
Throughout history there were many outstanding directors who changed many lives with their films. But Steven Spielberg went beyond with his movies and has influenced and motivated many people and it all started in his childhood. Through his success he has gained a lot of acknowledgement and awards.
The Renaissance – that cultural, political, scientific and intellectual explosion in Europe between the 14th and 17th centuries – represents perhaps the most profoundly important period in human development since the fall of Ancient Rome.
I would not be considered your typical college student in search of an education degree. I am a 31 year old male, married, with two children, and working on my second career. My previous life consisted of working in the coal mines till I was injured. My injury, however, is considered a blessing in disguise. My injury has leaded me to the world of education.
The bible has 2 messages about the acceptance of divorce. One is when Moses allowed divorce due to man’s cruel heart, whereas Jesus does not accept divorce at all. He believed in anyone marrying another after divorce as a deadly sin. The Catechism a sacred text writes about divorce. 2384 “Divorce is a grave offense against the natural law. It claims to break the contract, to which the spouses freely consented, to live with each other till death. Divorce does injury to the covenant of salvation, of which sacramental marriage is the sign. Contracting a new union, even if it is recognized by civil law, adds to the gravity of the rupture: the remarried spouse is then in a situation of public and permanent adultery” This passage gives the idea that divorcing not only breaks a contract with one another but with God also. Divorce doesn’t just affect those in the relationship but the family members and friends around. It can create conflict that before divorce would not have been there. However divorce can also result in freedom and safety. The ethical question here is whether divorce should be allowed when it is morally okay such as abuse or whether it should be completely banned and not accepted into society.
Thought out our lives, we are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. This can be attributed to everyone’s different multiple intelligences or learning styles. A persons learning style is the method though which they gain information about their environment. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to know these styles, so we can reach each of our students and use all of the necessary methods.
