Philosophy of Education
Becoming a teacher is going to be one of the greatest accomplishments of my life. Teaching was never a childhood dream for me like it was with others. Some people have always known that they wanted to become some type of teacher, but I never decided to until I entered college. I’ve always loved being around children and it makes me feel great to be able to help someone, so becoming a teacher is the perfect career choice for me.
I believe that the true nature of most students is that they like school and they want to learn. I also believe that the school and the teachers greatly influence their nature over the course of their schooling. I believe that this true nature changes for a lot of students because at some point they go to a school that they don’t like or they have a teacher who is mean to them and expects them to do everything on their own without any guidance or help. I’ve had teachers like his and they made me dislike school very quickly. Hopefully, if this is the case, they will eventually have a great teacher that inspires them to do well and to like school once again. I want to be that teacher. In my opinion, the nature of knowledge is relative or constructed. Every person has their own set of opinions and beliefs that determine what that person perceives as the truth. Most people believe that their ideas, opinions, and beliefs of something are the truth to them.
It’s my belief that the overall purpose of education is to improve society as a whole. Everyone should be given an equal opportunity to learn as they mature. I believe that the more educated a person is then the more likely they can become successful. A society full of successful people will be a successful society. Educat...

My professional development plan is to begin my career by substitute teaching after graduation. I do not want to relocate far from my current residence but I’m not completely opposed to it if the right opportunity presents itself. I will continue to substitute until I can find a full-time position. I do want to return to school to get a master’s degree after I have received some experience in the field or I am able to secure a full-time teaching position. There are a lot of different professional groups to join in the fields of physical education, health education, and teacher education. At this time I have not decided on which groups I will join in the future but I do plan to be active in a few of them. I also plan to be very active in the community that I will be teaching in. I feel that this is very important for all teachers.
He states that, “Every one with every one...Shall be given by the major part, the right to present the person of them all” (Hobbes [1651] 2013). Thus, a democratic form of governance is beginning to emerge, and the responsibility of the sovereign is to form laws that avoid returning to a state of nature. Essentially, Hobbes presents a way of government that appears optimal, and capable of lasting a long term. The elected sovereign is not to be overthrown because through the unanimous decision of members of the state the sovereign was chosen, and maintain authority through deliverance of suitable laws (Hobbes [1651] 2013). Thus, citizens are more likely to comply with this form of government because they maintain the impression that their sovereign only looks out for their best interests, as well as recognizes what is best for them because he was chosen to be in
Street art is more than just painting something beautiful or cool on a public wall. It’s about the people who decide what should be shown in public space, the messages that are advertised, and how the messages affect us all. (Croteau, David. Ch.4Pg113). Banksy has made himself known for doing politically inspired pieces of artwork for example, by critiquing entities like capitalism, war, and hypocrisy. Political satire is often used to analyze one’s society and policies. It “interrupts the process of normalization”( Hebdige, Dick. Pg 18) . It is simultaneously humorous and smart while exposing something which the satirist perceives as wrong or ridiculous. Banksy’s is known for using satire in his work. “Exit Through the Giftshop is, in itself, satirical commentary on various aspects of the art world, from the commercialization of contemporary art to the endless subjective debate on what constitutes an
...trix, the complex’s plan, and foreign works of art. While Pompey imbued his own personal accomplishments within his theatre complex, Caesar included that and more. By asserting his divine lineage through his temple to Venus Genetrix, statuary and orientation of the complex he raised himself so far above the general Roman public that he may have been despised by some, but revered by many. Caesar expanded upon the political propaganda methods of Pompey to extreme heights to help solidify his position as dictator perpetuo, and increased agency in political propaganda for future rulers, such as his son Augustus. Caesar and Pompey before him marked a transition in Roman public architecture where generals and leaders of Rome began to utilize building plans to communicate their greatness, and effectively go against Roman propriety to shape the architectural taste of Rome.

.... Government officials consider any act of producing street art as rebellion when honestly it is not. Shepard Fairey is a great example of this. He made street art for about ten years before he met Thierry and he claims he made this art because he thought that it looked cool. He did not want to really anger anyone with his work. He just wanted to share his passion with the world in manner he deemed fit.
Polybius is a Greek historian, he admired the Romans and he wanted to write how Rome came to dominate the world, he wrote much about them and their Roman republic.
Jerry is constantly getting harassed and asked why. “Would you ask Renault why he isn't selling the chocolates like everybody else. (cormier page 204)”. Then there’s the bullies that stop until they get what they want. Archie for example, he attacked Jerry any chance he got, making the entire school go after him too. On top of that Brother Leon blamed Jerry for the chocolate sale going badly, claiming that “Before a cure can be found, the case must be discovered. But in this case, Cochran, the cause is know. The carrier of the disease is known.” … “Renault...Renault..(cormier page
When we arrived a woman was about to give a tour, so we jumped in her group. She led us to a beautiful spot on the causeway and everyone gasped in awe. She began to speak and said, “Welcome to the Giant’s Causeway one of the most visited places in Ireland. I will begin the tour with some facts and stories about the causeway. After the tour, you may venture off and explore the causeway on your own.
Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher who expressed his thoughts on social rule and authority in the seventeenth century. He is best known in present day politics for his work on political philosophy theories. Hobbes set out his doctrine in the foundation of a dominion and legitimate governments, in creating an independent science of morality. His book, the Leviathan published in sixteen fifty one, established the foundation for most of the western political philosophies. It was based from the perspective of a social contract theory. A social contract theory typically addresses the questions of the origination of the society and the legitimacy of the authority of the state over the individual. According to Hobbes, society is a population beneath a power of authority.. In which all individuals in that society yield a few rights for the sake of protection. With the freedom from any other questioning force meant that the abuse of power by this authority couldn’t be resisted. Because of the sovereign power, created for the protection of the people surrendering their own sovereign power/will, by which they are the authors of all decisions made by the sovereign.
Even though Hobbes’s philosophy of government seems to be completely against the idea of democracy, it still had a positive effect. He displayed the people’s bad side and had an understanding who should be responsible for taking care of that bad side. Hobbes’s believed that the government should be responsible for the people’s safety and security. This idea helped influence democracy as we see it today, where the government protects the people and promotes peace in the nation.
To begin out of the countless professions one has to chose from in the world today I have chosen to become a teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I myself am a product of some whom I consider to be the best teachers in the world. As a child in North Carolina I was inspired by a wonderful woman named Mrs. Hollyfield. Mrs. Hollyfield taught me that no star was too far out of reach, if I put my mind to accomplishing my goal I could make it. Mrs. Hollyfield inspired me to be the best I could be at anything I wanted to be. As I have grown I have had other important teachers, some whom I am surrounded by daily whom inspire me to set out to accomplish my dreams. These wonderful inspiring people in my life have led me to the decision of becoming a teacher.
A gravity dam is made from concrete or masonry,or sometimes both.It is called gravity dam because gravity holds it down to the ground stopping the water in the reservoir
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
I would not be considered your typical college student in search of an education degree. I am a 31 year old male, married, with two children, and working on my second career. My previous life consisted of working in the coal mines till I was injured. My injury, however, is considered a blessing in disguise. My injury has leaded me to the world of education.
There have been many factors that have inspired me to this career choice. Watching my teachers, both past and present, has inspired me to become a teacher. I have a genuine interest in lifelong learning and as such I have the desire to not only instil knowledge and values to others, but also encourage them to share my passion for learning. Social Justice and leadership roles at school, along with my extra-curricular involvement with Cowra Youth Council, have highlighted my ability to work with and for the benefit of young people. In essence I know that my abilities and aspirations will make me a good teacher.
