Coming into this year, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from college and my classes. So far my experience at Ohio University has been pretty great, I have meet some really great people that I could end up being friends for life. My learning community has to be probably one of my favorite classes, out of all of my other classes that I am taking. The classes that I’m currently taking during my freshman year is Math 1200, IArt 1170, Eng 1510, Anth 1010, and UC 1000. I really enjoy all of my classes currently except IArt 1170, something about that class just really rubs me the wrong way. It’s just not very interesting but I need to power through that. Other than that I really can’t complain too much. One of the best things that I have learned …show more content…
They have a fantastic library which is a great, quiet place to study, they also offer their students tutoring and many other great things to help improve the students. One of my personal resources available on campus would have to be SI (Student Instruction). SI is a great resource on campus that helps you with math, science and many other great things. This resource is something that I use consistently. The teachers are fellow students that have taken this class in the past and know what you should expect on your exams. They go over every section for that week and try their best to teach the students what they need to know. Just knowing some many great things are available for the students on campus really shows that the university cares about the student’s success while they are here. When I started this semester I already knew what major I wanted to pursue. I really liked having Mengwei as my instructor because he has a degree in Business Sports Administration which is the major I’m currently trying to pursue. I think having a learning community based mainly on business really helped me meet new people that I’m going to see throughout my time at Ohio University. The learning community also allowed me to have an idea of what I should expect in the future for my business major, it really was a big help, and I really enjoyed my time …show more content…
From what I’ve heard around campus people love this program, and it seems like the type of program that I would love to be involved in. Currently to get into the school of business I need to have a gpa of 2.75 at the end of the year. I also will need to have a minimum of 30 credit hours as well. As of right now all of my classes are going really well, I have high grades in all of them so things are looking good for the future. . I’m looking forward to next semester, I have a bunch of classes that I’m very excited for. For the next four years I hope that I can find a minor that I would love to be involved in. I hope that along the way that I can meet and get many new friends, within my major. And in the future get a job with a top organization in sports, that would be my dream
I believe that I will be academically successful at Ohio State because I have taken the time to realize what my career goals are. When I graduated from high school in 1996, I really had no idea what career path I wanted to pursue. So I listened to a lot of wise people who pointed out the things that I was good at. I entered Ohio University as an Engineering major and later switched to Industrial Technology. After many years in college I found I was not successful at the things I had previously been successful at. I realized that what I was studying really did not interest me. I actually didn’t like it at all. That was the point that I decided I had wasted enough time and money and I walked away from college.
Often, I feel as though when I need to write in a more formal manner, I could easily just look up higher level vocabulary instead of memorizing it. Another thing that disinterests me is when teachers lecture about something that is irrelevant to the class, or get off topic. Instead, I appreciate and expect teachers to provide meaningful facts when debating certain issues and to always make sure that the discussion is relevant. When the class is taught in a way like this, it is usually the one that I am most excited to go to. My favorite classes are usually decided by how much I like the teacher, so usually I consider my favorites to be mathematics or english courses. I also hope to join a club this year, I am very interested in doing community service or helping people in need so I hope to find something along those
Only two months ago, I moved into room 426 of Trinity Hall and began my journey at Azusa Pacific University. I still remember how nervous and excited I felt when I arrived. Everyone was incredibly kind and overjoyed to have the freshmen move in. Beneath all the exhilaration, I had three big fears that felt like heavy weight on my chest. Because I did not grow up from a Christian family, I feared that I would not fit in with everyone else. I was also intimidated by how extroverted everyone was. I was introverted, so it required extra effort for me to make new friends. Another one of my fears was nursing school since the nursing program is known for its heavy load of work and commitment. Through experimentation, communication, and hard work,
I have often wondered what it would be like to experience the freedom of choosing my own class schedule. This has to be infinitely more stimulating and enjoyable. I am also aware that college will be significantly more challenging, but I have always found it easier to study for a class that interests me. I am willing to accept the fact that as long as I am in school, there will be required courses which may not engender excitement or enthusiasm; however, success should not be as difficult to achieve due to the maturity that is developing during this last year of high school. In addition, I have gained an understanding of the benefit of being well rounded. There is value in all classes taken. It helps to know that even my least favorite subject will contribute to the ultimate goal of personal and career development.
Did you know that The University of West Alabama was recently named the safest university in the state of Alabama? Since its founding in 1835, UWA has underwent 10 name changes, including its most recent and most controversial in 1995, from Livingston University to The University of West Alabama. Despite the many name changes and facelifts that UWA has seen over the years, one thing has always stayed the same: its purpose. The University of West Alabama offers the best option to prospective students for a public four-year institution in Alabama.
Over the course of this class I have pieced together many things about my own life that before went unnoticed. I am now able to see things in a bit of a different light. Now that I have been introduced to the realm of psychology I understand some of the reasons for behavior around me. I have learned that there is a reason for most everything and a lot of our behaviors and mental processes can be explained through psychology. Studies have been conducted for many years to try and pinpoint the source of our behavior and it is not something that most people think about every day. Having a better understanding of why we operate the way we do will help me to better understand myself and the others around me.
"Tomorrow is the first day of what I will become." I wrote this in my diary the night before my first day of college. I was anxious as I imagined the stereotypical college room: intellectual students, in-depth discussions about neat stuff, and of course, a casual professor sporting the tweed jacket with leather elbows. I was also ill as I foresaw myself drowning in a murky pool of reading assignments and finals, hearing a deep, depressing voice ask "What can you do with your life?" Since then, I've settled comfortably into the college "scene" and have treated myself to the myth that I'll hear my calling someday, and that my future will introduce itself to me with a hardy handshake. I can't completely rid my conscience from reality, however. My university education and college experience has become a sort of fitful, and sleepless night, in which I have wonderful dreams and ideas, but when I awaken to apply these aspirations, reality sounds as a six thirty alarm and my dreams are forgotten.
Since I was young, there is something electrifying about receiving mail, and this was amplified when I would receive mail from my future home. I would jump up and down if anything related to Oklahoma State University was addressed in my name, even if it addressed bursar or something routine. While receiving this mail, I never stopped to think about the individuals that created the cards to make me feel so happy; however, while job searching, I found a wonderful internship that takes place right here on the Oklahoma State campus. This internship is for creating flyers and images for future students. Job searching is not an easy task; however, Oklahoma State’s Hire OSU Grads organization creates a straightforward and accessible way for students to find jobs or internships. I have found an internship that would be great for furthering my experience in the work world. In this internship, I would be working directly on campus in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. I would create graphics, mail flyers, brochures, and post on social media. In addition, this internship would help me grow as a business major; I would be able to obtain
I’m a student at Tompkins Cortland Community College this is my first semester as a college student. I plan to go to college for four years and only be at TC3 for this one semester, then transfer to a four year school. College has grown around the world more than ever and more people are attending college more than ever. I have chosen to go to college because of the rewards after graduation. Yes it is another four years of school but by getting more education and an extended degree gives me more opportunities for better jobs and more money. The career I have chosen to study is business administration. I am hoping that it takes me to a great job managing a company or possibly being an accountant.
Educational Goals: Education is extremely important part of my past, present, and future goals. I currently hold an Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design Media. I have found that an A.A.S Degree does not go as far al I originally intended in the Rochester, MN area and furthering my education will be a necessity for my future career goals. Over the past 2 years I have been working on my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at the Minnesota School of Business Rochester campus. I am currently a senior with 3 quarters left before a spring graduation. After a June graduation, I plan on taking a summer quarter break. After summer break I will either continue on at MSB for my Masters in Business Administration with a Minor in Marketing or transferring the University of Minnesota for my Masters in Adult Education. After my Masters Degree is complete I will decide at that time if I wish to continue on and achieve my Ph.D.
In the beginning of the semester, I thought it would be enjoyable to take Anatomy and Physiology since I had already taken it in high school and actually received a high grade. I had heard from many students that this class is much harder in college and will often have a big lecture setting with more than three-hundred students, but I brushed this off and went into the classroom with a positive attitude. I quickly learned that big lectures were not the classes that I would succeed in, instead I preferred a small classroom setting where I am able to ask questions whenever needed. Throughout the semester, I also learned that I prefer online classes when it comes to mathematics and social sciences because they can be self-taught and I found myself often uninterested during the
I have discovered a lot about myself in general and how to deal with many issues for myself and others. I learn to think more critical in the class and in the real world as well. This course has helped me overcome my fear of worrying. I was unsure of myself when I first start class, but I quickly learn to understand myself and other people behavior by looking at my own self first that meant on the inside and outside. I have always been goal-oriented and generally known what I want out of life. This course has helped me to know myself better. It has taught me a valuable skill that I can apply at work with the students and in the master’s degree program. I have found that I like online education, and I know that I can achieve my goals if I work hard enough. This class forced me to become more organized. Through the various assignments, I have mastered the use of technology. I learned to communicate through discussion question with my classmates and instructor.
must stick with it. A cabinet could be opened at home and a variety of tasty
During my time as a student I have been able to develop the way I learn and interact with others to a degree that has also helped me to mature into a better person. I have come to believe that this maturity will help me to develop into a better thinker as well, one that has the patience to listen and take consideration of what others have to say. I consider the act of learning a two way avenue that has to be taken seriously. It is one that involves the teacher, and the protégé. It has been, and will continue to be, my absolute goal as a student to become a diligent protégé and acquire all of learning my teachers have set in front of me. The way each of them have helped me to think about how my actions, and the way I choose to study my lessons and develop as a student, has made a tremendous impact on my life. This impact is one that I will carry into the future as I myself advance in my professional studies.
Ever since I was a little girl, I have wanted to go into the College of Education. I would come home from school every day and go right to my “classroom”. I would have make-belief students, and I would prepare worksheets for them to do. My mom would occasionally help me out and be my “student teacher”. She helped me grade papers and sometimes would pretend to be one of my students and draw the pictures that I had asked to draw. I even went outside to take them out for recess, and when it was time to go back inside, believe it or not, I even had my own personal whistle. I always think back to those days because I have never thought about doing anything else. Going into the College of Education has always been my dream, and I am not going to give up on what I have started.
