I chose to take the VIA character strengths survey from www.viacharacter.org. My top three strengths were humor, kindness, and perspective. The definition for the character strength of humor is liking to laugh or smile and making other people do the same. It also means to have a cheerful view on life to see its lighter side and maintain a good mood. This character strength falls under the category of transcendence. Transcendence describes strengths that provide a sense of connection to something higher in meaning and purpose than ourselves. The character strength of kindness is defined as being generous and doing favors and good deeds for others. This character strength is categorized under the virtue category of humanity. Character strengths that fall under this category are manifested in caring relationships with others and are mainly displayed in one-on-one relationships. The character strength of perspective is defined as being able to provide wise council to others due to the ability to look at the world in a way that makes sense to yourself and others. This strength falls under the virtue category of wisdom, which deals with strengths involving the way we gain …show more content…
While sharing my experiences with my brother and coworker I felt like I was able to share with someone the knowledge that I had accrued while experiencing the same things they would be firsthand. Directly after theses situations occurred I felt a sense of pride and satisfaction that I may have been helping someone else out with difficult and frightening experiences. Looking back on these interactions after the week had ended I felt happy knowing that my advice and experience could have a positive impact on others. Whatever my brother decides to do I know that he will feel content following his heart and I believe when my coworker begins to see clients that some of the advice I gave will make her interactions go
According to Brain Tallerico “Unbroken opens with a powerfully staged and shot sequence of aerial combat that surprisingly defines the film's strengths and weaknesses over the next two-plus hours”. The film I chose to review was called “Unbroken”. This action packed film showed important events involving Louie Zamperini an American solider fighting in the Second World War. “Unbroken” was overall a very good film that had many strengths and weaknesses. The director Angelina Jolie produced the unbelievable true story that showed survival, resilience, and redemption.
I was excited to learn more about each of these strengths and what they meant. The developer strength states that this is a personality characteristic
According to Four Types of Courage (Cox,2006), courage are a different ways to have bravery. Some people believe that heroes are very courageous. Other believe that heroes are real. Moreover, she classifies a type of courage in to four types which are physical, social, moral, and creative. Each one has explained to give us how this types courage. I would like to mention about two ideas which are ask to name a courageous person, and lost usefulness.
The things that make one different are the things that cause the world to change and lead to conformity. Uniqueness is a characteristic that is in everyone; no one person is the same. In this way, Equality 7-2521 from Anthem, a novel written by Ayn Rand, conforms to society on his outward actions to keep him safe, but on this inside, his drive for individuality and not being “normal” allows him to discover a tunnel in which he discovers multiple things like electricity. In a similar aspect, I seek to with my mind, as if a moving vehicle, swerve sharply to the opposite direction to avoid indifference and achieve my maximum potential.
Some strengths that stand out the most in my personal life are, how I love to serve and give freely to benefit others, whether it is donating money or paying close attention to events that happen to surprise my friends with little gifts, I enjoy brightening someone's day. I am known as
I tend to agree with this assessment as it brings out my best qualities as strengths in the right way and enables me to assess myself to realize my potential. The strength that can best describe me is the balance which also means consistency. This has helped me cultivate my reputation and has helped me balance my choices. The one that surprised me is courage since at most times I am a team player, and this rarely enables me to stand out
Strengths can be defined in multiple ways. One definition of strength is, “the quality or state of being strong; bodily or muscular power; vigor” (dictionary.com). Strength can also be defined as the mental power, force, moral power or courage of an individual. Both of these definition describe strengths as being something positive, almost like a driving force. In the healthcare field it is important to know your personal strengths just as it is to know your weaknesses. As healthcare providers we have to know what we are good at so that way when caring for patients we can do it with a sense of confidence. Knowing your own strengths is also important in the leadership world of healthcare. Every good leader knows what their advantage is when taking charge of their unit or facility. Using the strength finder 2.0 I was able to identify my strengths as, communication, self-assurance, focus, command, and futuristic.
My first strengths to communication are (responsibility for communication) the meaning of responsibility for communication means when someone knows how the person is feeling, and when someone sees them self in their shoes of any person they are talking with. For example, a woman starts to talk to the men about her having problems about her job. Once the woman talks to the mean about the situation the man starts to feel what the women is feeling and understands being in the same situation she is in. in this kind of situations ,I’m understandable when someone is going through the worst time and other times I can relate to these people I talk to. When I communicated when people are going through a rough time I communicate with them by giving asking them the question about something good that has to happen to them. My last strengths are (Flexible). The meaning of Flexible in a conversation is when the person has a good way to talk and thinking about what they are going to say before they talk. For example, a kid can ask the teacher a question, but the teacher seems to be busy. So a way the teacher would be Flexible is for the kid, is by thinking about what she is going to say, to organize her thoughts before she communicates. When it comes to a situation where someone talks to me, and I’m busy, or mad what I do is think before what I’m going to say before saying something I will
According to the strength finder survey, my five greatest strengths are: positivity , restorative, includer , adaptability, and responsibility (Gallup,2017). However, I knew I had the strengths of showing positivity and responsibility. I'm also ecstatic about finding out about the other three.
The two areas that best reflect my strong suits are respectful and inspiring. (Steadiness) Respect should not be taken lightly and people want others to show them that they are important. I am not the one to belittle, talk down to someone, embarrass the other person, or not acknowledge someone because they are not like me or do not hold a certain position. People respond in a negative manner and become very defensive when others treat them in any of the ways previously mention. I look at how I want others to consider when speaking and interacting with me. That is the way I have to try to handle myself when dealing with others. Taking calculated risks is what I do best because I cannot stand losing too much if the results do not outweigh the risks involved. I am also very critical on myself and can point out faults in a heartbeat. I have to analyze future actions before I act on anything because I do not want to go wrong or too far away from initial path. Repeating myself or actually running through multiple scenarios takes up a lot of time. Being overly critical on myself will eliminate some of that time that I cannot get back.
When deciding which strengths you want describe to an interviewer, you should make a list, choose three to five of those strengths that match the job posting, and give specific examples of that strength (Martin, 2005). I can easily tell you that my greatest strengths are the core values that I was instilled with during my service with the United States Air Force. Integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all [I] do (USAF, 1997); these are my strengths that I bring to every job or task I do.
A strength that sets me apart from anyone else is that I can empathize with others. I am able to put myself in their situation and understand their point of view. Without empathy, conflict resolution would not be possible.
Other strengths include being self-confident, conscientious, diligent and determined. It was interesting to see my lower scores as well; the lowest average score was sensitivity (3.2), followed closely by self-assuredness and perception and empathy. Although I consider myself sensitive, I believe the sense of sensitivity does not apply as often towards others I interact with. For example, I often speak my mind and voice my opinion with little thought of the consequence or impact it might have on those around me. Thus, sensitivity is not one of my existing strengths, but rather an opportunity for growth. I also found it interesting to note how I scored significantly lower in the human skill, and higher in technical, which I did not expect. This score likely correlates with my score form the LTQ, which identified room for improvement in relating with
These various characteristics help to avoid some avoidable mistakes that can be unforeseen. I have quite some strengths that has helped me so far in my nursing career and has also helped me to be one of the best nurses around. Braveness is one important strength that I have that has helped me in my nursing career. Braveness has propelled me to be able to accept any challenges and to be able to face it in my nursing practice. I am not afraid to explore different areas in nursing due to this distinctive strength that I possess. The strength has also helped me in furthering my education without fear of failing in my chosen
Two areas of strength I have identified are self-awareness/self-management, from the Interpersonal Skills and Personal Characteristics category, and public speaking in the General Personal Skills category. In the past I would not have considered these as strengths, but over time they have become an integral asset as I have progressed in my personal life and career. I have been able to utilize them to my advantage in order to receive effective
