My Metamorphosis
For many years I thought that extroverts were selfish. That they deliberately sought attention in order for people to think well of them. I have slowly come to the realization that this is a case of sour grapes on the part of we introverts. In fact we are the selfish ones.
Introverts hold themselves back from social interaction out of a fear of negative reaction. We feel that if we become visible to a group then we will somehow look foolish and therefore feel totally embarrassed. It is our belief that until proven otherwise, we are potentially perfect in the eyes of all strangers. If we can therefore navigate the perceptions of other people well enough, they will continue to believe we are perfect. And with any luck they will come to feel positively towards us.
This is such a joke on so many levels. The obvious fallacy is that even if people do form a friendship or some other relationship with us, it will not be our true self that they are seeing. This is the reason we feel so unworthy of the love that people offer us. In the back of our minds we know we have been conning them and do not deserve their love.
Extroverts on the other hand, seek to amuse and educate others by their own actions and words. They are not usually concerned with how good they will look but how happy or entertained those around them are. They are not self-conscious and are therefore more likely to show their
Extraverts are people who are relatively sociable and outgoing while on the opposite end individuals who are introverts are people who would much rather enjoy the company of close friends and family. People who are high in agreeableness are more likely to be trustworthy. Those who are high in conscientiousness are goal-oriented. Individuals high in neuroticism
This article discusses how important the organisms symbiotic with coral reefs are, as well as how important coral reefs are to our environment. Also explained is how natural and non natural things things like hurricanes and overfishing affects them. A study is quoted about how water acidity also plays a role in the bleaching of corals. Lastly, restoration and conservation efforts are discussed and how we could possibly help our oceans.
This particular introduction, unlike most other works contains the climax to the story. This paper will show the importance of these introductory lines. “When Gregor Samsa woke up one morning from unsettling dreams, he found himself changed into a monstrous vermin.” This line greatly moves the plot, more so than any other line. It is the climax of the novel, and everything following it helps build the conclusion of the story. The juxtaposition of “unsettling” and “dreams” is ironic, as dreams are peaceful and never unsettling, only nightmares are unsettling. Gregor has transformed into a “monstrous vermin.” The remainder of the first paragraph gives details of exactly what the monstrous vermin is.
The main difference between introverts and extroverts is where they draw their energy from. Extroverts are generally considered as an expressive individual who seem to be energized by outgoing and social activities whereas introverts prefer the solitary pursuits -often embroiled in their own imagination- and may sometimes find the company of others draining. Introvert tend to recharge by reflection over ideas or by enjoying the solitude; they lose energy when they are near the crowd or large group of people.
They get energy from being around other people and tend to be more sociable. Those who have larger amounts of this trait also are more likely to be excitable, enjoy starting new conversations, and in general like to be the center of attention. As for those with lower levels of this trait, or introverts, they are the opposite. They have to sometimes retreat from places with large amounts of social interaction in order to recharge. In a social setting they have to expend energy rather than gain it like an extravert.
Of all of the issues that effect the planet Earth from a Global Change standpoint, one of the most visible and highly publicized is the issue of rainforest destruction. The loss of this emerald on the planet's crown will end life as we know it, if something is not done...
The world’s coral reefs are quintessential to global biodiversity, so much so that they are often referred to as the "rainforests of the sea". Although their actual space occupied by reefs is relatively small, constituting less than 0.1% of the world's ocean surface, they support over 25% of all marine species on earth. They provide complex and varied marine habitats that support a wide range of other organisms including, but not limited to, fish, mollusks, worms, crustaceans, echinoderms, sponges, tunicates and other cnidarians. Some of these animals feed directly on the corals, while others graze on algae on the reef. The reef also provides a protective habitat for many of these animals.
...from one another (Agno, 2011). Introverts get their energy internally and extroverts get their energy from being with other people (Agno, 2011). It is all part of human behavior.
Frank Kafka is considered one of the most influential writers of all time. Helmut Richter would agree with this statement. Richter agreed that Kafka was a very prominent figure in world literature and was amazed by his mechanics and word usage. I feel that his essay is supportive of Kafka’s writing, but also leaves out many important details in its brevity. Richter did not include Kafka’s flaws and tendencies in his essay.
Metamorphosis: A transformation that relates to real life health issues. In the story, The Metamorphosis, Gregors transformation into a vermin can be connected to overall health in today’s society because Gregors “disorder” altered his “complete state of physical, mental, and social well-being” (Kaiser Permanente). Based on the definition of health, Gregor’s state and the experiences he went through in the story, would be more similar to someone who was in overall, poor health.
The identity that people often desired were neglected due to the lack of attention that they provided themselves which caused them to forget who they truly were. In the story, The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka and Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello, are about self-identity and how people were more interested other than themselves. By owning a name, this allowed people to have an identity and also defined who people were rather than roles that only claimed what people did. The family in Six Characters did not have any names which caused them to seek for an author that would allowed them to be discovered who they were and rather be the actors for their story in the play as the father mentioned this in the play to the
Located in tropical ocean waters, coral reefs provide priceless resources to both human and marine life. They exist in an area about 30 degrees on either side of the equator. Coral reefs are home to more species than any other marine ecosystem. This includes over 1500 types of fish and 500 different types of algae. (Encarta) However, nearly 60% of coral reefs are in serious danger due to both natural and man-made causes.
Ever since then the deforestation for resources has dramatically increased to an alarming rate. Every second we lose an area of two football fields and every week an area twice as big as Rhode Island. The Rainforests once covered fourteen percent of the Earth compared to the two percent now. In the...
Introverts tend to be more quiet and reserved and prefer interaction only with close friends. On the
In this society, both introverts and extroverts may feel different as that lack the valued characteristics of the other group. Introverts may be criticized for their lack of social participation as they tend to be over stimulated and overwhelmed when attempting to follow the pace of extroverted peers. Extroverts on the other hand would feel impatient and lonely when energizing situations are not available to them. In conclusion, being an introvert doesn’t make one more inferior than extroverts, both traits are needed in order for a well-balanced society. Regardless of what personality trait you may have, it is important to nurture your own type of personality and adjusting to life as one’s life path should be measured according to your own purpose and values, not external achievements.
