I think the most memorable meal I have ever eaten last December 21 of 2013 during our Christmas party in the Philippines. There was a lechon (roasted pig), a bam-i (fried noodle), tinolang manok (ginger native chicken soup), goat caldereta, dinuguan (pork blood stew), fresh lumpia (spring roll), and rice. For our dessert was a fruit salad and a Filipino native wine name tuba made from coconut.
It was memorable because of the presence of my family and friends back home in the Philippines celebrating Christmas with me. It was also a thanksgiving dinner for my family for protecting my family from the Typhoon Haiyan that hit part of my province. The combination of food and having family enjoying the food was the most memorable one.

Mere words can't describe how happy I was to cook. Tea cakes, sweet potato pie, honey glazed pound cake, Roasted turkey and leafy greens. I get to Make them all. Of course since I'm a spoiled brat I had to get my hair ready with my apron. Then and only then will I be able to cook. We were in the kitchen all day. You could just. Smell the richness of the turkey. I could almost taste the silky cream sweet potato pie. It would make your mouth water . Halfway through cooking Most of our family was already here (They were going to sleep the night) They pitched in to help, without them we would’ve been cooking through Thanksgiving.
Although American holidays are celebrated, the menu for them is normally different. The traditional holiday menu includes pernil or lechón asado (pork), pasteles, and arroz con gandules. Typical desserts include arroz con dulce or flan. Coquito is a popular beverage for holidays.
Langston Hughes uses poetic elements to express the reader his feelings towards America. Langston Hughes is very upset that America is not what it promised to be. Living in America, he never saw America to be the land of the free, what it promised to be. Instead, he saw America to be cruel to him and now wants to change America to be the country of the free he thought it was. He expresses all his emotion about America, in his poem, Let America Be America Again, by using connotative diction, repetition, narrative tone and organization; poetic elements.
The night before Easter I couldn’t sleep knowing what a great day it going to be with delicious food. I had a dream of all the great food we were going to bar-b-que with sides and desserts. My dad and I woke up early Easter Sunday to get everything ready and I knew it was going to be perfect. We started bar-b-queing and I just love the way it smells when I just barely put it on the bar-b-que pit. Especially after the meat cooks for a while, and I open the lid and a white cloud of smoke emerges into my face like when a car burns out and I just inhale then exhale the aroma of the meat. My family and I love to bar-b-que for Easter, so we invite our friends and family to come to our house to have fun and to have a memorable time. My dad, my tio, and I are the ones who love to bar-b-que while my mom, my tia’s, and my girlfriend are making all the sides and desserts. My dad, my tio, and I are in the back of the house by the fence to the left of the house with three bar-b-que pits while my mom, my tia, and girlfriend are setting up the tables under the patio to place the scrumptious food an...
Marketers are often accused of marketing to children to gain higher profits. Young children are targeted because they usually do not know right from wrong. Many people have criticized McDonald’s for advertising the Happy Meal towards young children for higher profits. Some people consider it unethical because the Happy Meal is so unhealthy. However, McDonald’s has taken many initiatives to show that it is a corporation that does not manipulate children for profit and that they care for children. The Ronald McDonald House Charities organization was created by McDonalds in 1974 to help children in need. The organization believes that helping one child will go a long way, and they express their commitment in their vision statement, “We believe when you change a child’s life, you change a family’s, which can change a community and, ultimately, the world” (Ronald McDonald House Charity). McDonald’s also provides donations for many other children’s charities and has taken steps to improve the Happy Meals by providing healthier options. McDonalds works hard towards making children all ove...
My First Memory- Personal Narrative I’ve had many memories during my lifetime, many good, and some bad. My
My second event was a little different. It was the event the totally changed my view of life. The unforgettable day was my wedding day. April 29th in the year 2002 was the day when I became responsible for my own life. Even though I have so many responsibilities I would never regret the moment I agreed to be my husbands wife. My wedding ceremony was the event that I dreamed of since I was a little girl. I imagined every detail of it. It was like a fairy tale wedding. I was wearing the most elegant dress in the world. There were three hundred people at the ceremony. I would never forget such a beautiful day.
Have you ever had something happen in your life it made you so happy you still remember? I do. I remember the day my mother made a surprise party for me. She knew that turning fifteen in a Latina's world meant so much. My mother couldn’t afford to do me a Quinceañera- the celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America . It is celebrated differently from any other birthday, as it marks the change from adolescent to young womanhood.A Quinceañera is a celebration in which a girl turns fifteen which in the Spanish speaking countries it is a recognition of her journey from adolescent to young womanhood. It starts out with a religious ceremony. Afterwards comes the reception which is held at home or at a banquet hall. The celebration includes food, music, choreographed dances or waltz (performed by the quinceañera and her court). A court is made up of fourteen people ( seven young girls and seven young men) plus the quinceañera making it fifteen. She wears a ball gown. Normally the gown’s color is chosen to be white or pink but in last few years it has changed as more trends come out. Some dresses are now chosen to be blue, purple, yellow, orange, red, and even black. As I was growing up I started hearing about girls turning fifteen getting ready to plan their parties and inviting people to their quinces. They would say they would get a DJ or a Mexican/ Guatemalan group to come sing at their party.
My most memorable Christmas is one from my past. I was about six years old. I clearly remember sitting in class on the last day of school before Christmas vacation anticipating the bell to ring and signify that the classes were finally over. As the bell rang, I ran out of that class, and once I got home I was ready in an instant to leave for my grandmother’s where I would spend my holidays. It was a two hour drive to my grandmother’s house. I was very impatient throughout the entire drive. I couldn’t wait to see my grandma, my cousin, and my aunts. To make things better, however, snow started to fall filling me with hopes of a snowball fight the next day.
My most memorable family vacation took place two years ago. We went to Corsica, a French island situated in the south of France right next to Italy. I remembered waking up early excited to visit this new land. Used to take long flights, I was surprised to arrive to the destination after a one-hour flight. Even though the flight was short for me, it was stressful for my mom, she has never felt secured in a plane, probably due to the fact that she is afraid of height. When finally arrived at the destination, the dry and warm weather was there to welcome us. We all felt relief, and knew that this was the beginning of the summer. Excited, we had a lot of activities planned for the few weeks, me and my father could not wait to dive in the clear
Throughout life I have had many memorable events. The memorable times in my life vary from being the worst times in my life and some being the best, either way they have become milestones that will be remembered forever. The best day of my life was definitely the day that I received my drivers’ license. This day is one of the most memorable because of the feelings I had when I received it, the opportunities that were opened up for me and the long lasting benefits that I received from it that still exist today.
Going on a road trip with my family means the world to me. We drove to another state during summer vacation, and it was by far the best road trip I have ever been on. My family and I were able to go to many fun places. We ate so many exotic and delicious foods as well. Yet most importantly, I spent time with my family and their friends. It was the day when my family and I went to California for our summer vacation.
