I don’t consider myself a part of a subculture, but I have interacted with people that belong to different subcultures. One subculture I grew to understand was the bronies I bet your wondering “Bronies” what’s that? Bronies is a subculture mainly of men that have an interest in ponies. If you take a minute and think back to your childhood you might remember the television show “My Little Ponies” this is where the term Bronies come from. Just like any other group Bronies have different convection across the world that men and women participate in, from dressing up to speaking their own language, No I never been to a conviction but, I have seen a documentary of the subculture. I have a friend that’s a part of Bronies though he too never been
Social history, which looks at the way ordinary people live their lives can be more revealing and engaging than traditional historical approaches, which examine momentous events or periods.’ (Rankin, S., 1999:135). Social historical stories can be successfully presented through the monodrama form. ‘Monodrama is a complete theatrical work and performed by one actor who portrays either a single character, or multiple characters in the dramatic situation.’ (Mackenzie, D., 1996:46). Leah Purcell and Scott Rankin’s Box the Pony (1999), and Sancia Robinson and Wendy Harmer’s What is the Matter with Mary Jane? (1996) are two very exceptional, yet adversative styles of monodrama. Both play-texts carry personal, positive and affirming messages demonstrated through the use of significant themes, distinctive style, clever structure, valuable language techniques and strong symbolism. The use of these elements determine which monodrama best encapsulates the audience’s attention as a monodrama.
Hoof beats pounding across the sand: this is the sound of ponies living freely on Assateague Island, which lies on the Maryland and Virginia border. Maryland leaves its Assateague ponies in peace and preserves them, but Virginia manages its Chincoteague ponies disparately. However free and wild the ponies may seem, they are property of the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Department (VFD). The selling of these ponies began in 1925; the VFD fully acquired the herd in 1947 (Holden). One of the most tragic aspects of the auction is that the most trafficable ponies are less than a year old; buyers prefer to sunder the foals from their mothers at the clang of the auctioneer's gavel rather than waiting for the foals to reach the proper age for healthy separation. The older a pony is, the lower their price. These untamed ponies, sold into domestication and transported away from the only home they know, now live surrounded by humans and must become domesticated. The treatment and auctioning of the wild Chincoteague ponies is cruel and unnatural because the ponies are not accustomed to human contact and forced to perform actions against their will.
There is a hero in us all. A hero is someone who risks their own life to save or do good for others. Ponyboy is a hero because he risked his life to save children from a burning church. Johnny is a hero even though he killed someone it was to save his friend’s life but he also saved children from a burning church. Dally has been arrested, picks fights, and drinks, but when it comes to the people he is close with he has his soft spots for them. All bad boys have a good side.
h she is a spy and he is pretty much saying that not everyone is who they seem to be at first and that she is different. Everyone is different in some way, shape or form, everybody chooses who they are and what they will do.
Culture, a significant aspect of an individual identity, tending to be defined from your birth, woven by the gods: however, I defy the hand of fate by picking my own cultural identity... For why should I be forced into the culture that was imposed upon me, just because of my heritage, religion, beliefs, and customs; instead of discovering my own and being myself. I am to tell you the culture I subjugate myself into; a sub-genre of gaming and anime culture, collectively called otaku, and help broaden your mind to the new phenomenon of a different type of pop culture.
The founders of the pony express are William H. Russell, William B. Waddell, and Alexander Majors. It traveled from St.Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California. Ponyboy believes that Darry could easily be a Soc because Darry has values that was similar to ones of a Soc. Darrel is his real name, Darry being a nickname. One of the values was being intelligent, it said on text 141: “he was proud of being smart too.” Not to mention, he is the oldest of the Curtis brothers, being 20 years old, he takes care of the household chores, such as cooking, cleaning, and this is shown to be true because he is the parental figure for the younger brothers.
A subculture can consist of any small group outside the central or key majority group. The groups can range from an organized crime group, to an Asian American group, to a religious group, to even a hippie commune. The main focus of this unit is the immigrant subcultures. The immigrant subculture that is becoming more commonplace every day in the United States is the Mexican Americans. Mexican Americans have many religious traditions, ceremonies, customs, as well as art and music forms. There are also various cultural traditions. Mexican Americans have their own identity on the contrary they still have distinct American characteristics.
Youth subcultures threaten the social structure of a racial hierarchy. This is clearly represented with the events that led up to the Zoot Suit Riots. Migration of distinct populations to Los Angeles from the late 1800s to the late 1940s was not embraced positively by most white residents. Instead, many used the race of the migrants as an excuse to discriminate and segregate. Pachucos were one of these subcultures that were influenced by the music and customs that were brought to Los Angeles during the African American migration. With the combination of many cultures and customs, many subcultures that questioned the racial hierarchy were created. Through music these youth subcultures shed light on what they believed was right. These migrants
The people in subculture are very hard working, live a very healthy lifestyle and are proud of what they do. Some do this professionally and make a living out of it. While there is no age limit to this subculture it can go anywhere from 17 year olds to 70 year olds in the subculture who live this lifestyle. Others just enjoy it as a hobby or a way of staying in shape and being fit.

Ponyboy became a better person as the book went on especially because in the beginning he was always accused of having no common sense and being different from the other greasers. Ponyboy had rough times throughout the book, but the way he overcame them made him the accepting, selfless and gold person he becomes by the end.

Nowadays, when people mention cowboys, they are easily come up with the cowboy culture and also realize a lot of western movies. Cowboy culture not only influences Western, but also influence the Eastern countries, such as my home country China. When I was a child, people in China used to watch movies to know the western culture and the cowboy was the one figure what the western people are and what their characteristics which seek for freedom and try to explore larger area and they never showed afraid out. Chinese people can learn a lot culture differences from watching western movies. There are individuals that live in fear of showing their true identity to the world because they simply fear that society won’t accept them for having a different sexual orientation. Society advocates that individuals should be able to be proud of who they are, but yet they judge homosexuals for being different. People are taught not to judge others based on their race or religion, so why do they still discriminate against homosexuals? The homosexual subculture is not accepted by society, looked down upon, and misjudged; however, they are human beings and deserve to be treated equally.
