To give back, to make a positive impact, to make someone’s day, or to save someone; these are the things I truly want in my life. In a world where there are so many sad and empty eyes, I want to help people find treasures that will replenish that spark in their souls. In a world where life is so short, seeing people destroy themselves due to their self-hatred in turn destroys me as well. I don’t want to die in vain, but to know that my life has been used to save other lives or help them make the most out of it. My ambition is to start a love revolution where individuals no longer take to harming others or themselves due to their beliefs of being inadequate or due to their bitterness that has been caused through any form of hardship they’ve experienced in their lives. Be it through music, volunteering, simply giving great hospitality, or through my future academic endeavors, I want to touch the souls of others and have them feel something greater than simply contentment— true happiness.
It is often said that music is to the soul, what words are to the mind. Music is occasionally used to express feelings that we aren’t able to put into words. I find it amazing that instrumental pieces, pieces where there are no lyrics, are still able to move us and ignite something within us. I have been in the school orchestra for 7 years, and this has brought me the utmost pleasure by being able to perform for various crowds and seeing the smiles on their faces when each piece closes. Through music, a connection can be established and through playing or listening, emotions can be released. By playing for others or by encouraging others to play themselves, I am able to awaken the spirits within them; a passion is renewed or found and a new reason...

...t living and dying, perhaps something more than we all assume whilst we’re still alive. Perhaps we are born again into a different life with the knowledge we have acquired in our current lives, or perhaps there is only darkness. For questions such as these, we have no answers and therefore I don’t take for granted the one life that I am given. It pains me to see so many others in a depressive and apathetic disposition I used to find myself commonly in, hence why I’ve been determined to devote my life and existence to others. I want to reveal to others that even though the outer space is dark, they must acknowledge the presence of the sun, and all the stars that burn brightly. We are the stars in this universe, and we must realize that we ought to use up all of our resources to produce as many waves of extravagant light as we humanly can before our ultimate supernova.
Doing solely what an individual loves is a self-centered view of the world. While it is important to chase happiness, it is also important to reflect on what one is doing to spread happiness to the rest of the world. One must find something that they are good at, and put that into the world. They should contribute to others and help the world be better, in addition to following their passions. An individual’s acts of service may just become one of their many passions.
Not only is human connection vital to live a happy and joyful life, but it is necessary to create a legacy, and thus live on through others. But in order to do this, one must first overcome their ego and their sense of self. Once all of the “I” thoughts are gone, one can relate, but fully understand, the higher powers as well as other human beings around us. However, it is important to accept that we may never fully understand the driving force of this universe. While it can be experienced, and we can briefly get an idea of what it is, it is impossible to define these concepts in words, because we don’t have a language that transcends what we can understand. And though many recognize that these concepts could never be fully understood by the human brain, determined minds continue to ask questions that will never have an answer, “pushing their minds to the limits of what we can know” (Armstrong,
If one were to look back into the world’s history, one would find that an important and consistent element is the world of music. Music has presented itself in various forms throughout its spread and through our identification of its magical realm, people have been fortunate enough to come across a means of relation. Whether it is blues and reggae or rap and pop rock, there is music out there for everyone. Music can serve as a stabilizer for some, a relaxant to others, and to many a form of inspiration.
Many people across the world are affected every day by the gift of music. To those of us who let it into our lives, we truly view it for what it is. Unfortunately, not everyone realizes how powerful it can be. For me singing was something that I was always good at; I never really took it to heart. I never understood when people would talk about how music had changed there lives; I just didn't see how a few notes put together could affect anyone so deeply. It wasn't until last April when our choir was chosen among a select few to perform at Carnegie Hall that I would understand the indubitable impact of music.
“Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first breakthrough, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world. A new species would bless me as its creator and source, many happy and excellent natures would owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of a child so completely as I should deserve theirs.” (Shelley 39).
“The Bells,” Teaches us to feel more because of music. Many people think that music is simply something to occupy time. It’s much more than that. Music is the language of the soul, the motto of lif...
According to Allen Navarro the person who wrote the article, Music and Social change – How they have changed the World. It was stated that it has been the receptacle used to express and show feelings when words do not appear to be sufficient (Navarro). What I did not know myself was that Navarro specified in his article. Was that the delicate murmur of the violin, or even the high-pitched tune/notes from an electric guitar are all the thing that anyone could possible need to express the satisfaction, torment, aching and every single feeling that do not require words
Music has always had an important role in society. It has been used for enjoyment, but also to get feelings and emotions across. Some might say there is a song for everything, and it would be fairly difficult to disagree with this, as songwriters feel the same emotions as their listeners do, write songs about these emotions, produce them, and then let their listeners listen to the song and share the emotion expressed through the lyrics.

Music is one of the most fantastical forms of entertainment. Its history stretches all the way from the primitive polyrhythmic drums in Africa to our modern day pop music we listen to on our phones. It has the ability to amaze us, to capture our attention and leave us in awe. It soothes the hearts of billions, and it is so deeply rooted in my life that it has touched my heart as well. Everyday I walk to the beat of the song stuck in my head and hum along to the melody. For me, to listen to music be lifted into the air by the hands of your imagination and float around for a while. You forget about your worries, your troubles and find peace within the sound. Every chapter in my life is attached with a song. Every time I listen to a certain song, thoughts of my past come flooding back
Throughout my life, music has always been a major influence. It has the power to change my mood when I'm feeling down, but the thing I find most intriguing about music is that it doesn't always end up improving your mood: like all forms of art, it imitates life, which is not always portrayed in a positive light. The musicians that I admire most have the versatility to induce several different emotional responses in the same piece. This quality is present in most of the wide variety of music I listen to, from Russian composer Dmiti Shostakovich, to Chicago jazz band Tortoise, to California pop/rock sextet Mr. Bungle.
...ch one of us has a star that our soul is associated with. Our task as human is to try to live a good live so that when we reincarnate we can return to our associated star. In their own way they both sought to explain the nature of reality and how we could know what is real.
The universe, and what it means to be alive is almost impossible to define; yet that does not stop humanity from trying. “Lonergan’s philosophy of the human person reveals that being human means having an unlimited number and variety of questions about life and the universe.” (Morgan, 1996). There is no limit on the number and variety of questions the human person will ask, "the most subversive people are those who ask questions” (Gaarder), as a result there are many varied and opinionated answers. This essay will explore three different theories on how one might find answers to life's ultimate questions. At one point or another, every human being has asked the question why: Why am I here? What is my purpose? What is the point? It is in our nature as human beings to reason, to think, to ask, it is what separates us from the rest of creation, and with this ability to reason, we are left with one question: Why? Throughout history many have tried to answer this question, some have come to the conclusion that meaning is found through God, and one’s faith. Others feel that life begins meaningless, and it is up to the individual to give life meaning; then there are those who believe that life has no meaning, and we are all essentially, just waiting to die, "The meaning of life is that it ends." (Kafka).
Music has always been a big part of my life. Music is not just a bunch of melodies, rhythms, and vibrant sounds. It is a comfort to me. The lyrics of a song challenge my intellect and the rhythms and beats affect my emotions. Music understands me when people don’t. At times it takes me back to an event in my life or even in history. Both consciously and subconsciously my mind remembers the emotions that are attached to a certain song. It can make me feel on top of the world or the complete opposite; music can change the atmosphere and also set the mood. Music has power over my human soul. It soothes it. I cannot imagine not having music to listen to. It is a powerful force and my love for it is incredible.
Music, a form of art, made up of unique and special sounds containing elements of pitch and rhythm can powerfully soothe one’s soul. Firstly, there are different types of music, and each has its own features. These sounds and features are what I admire in music because to me it creates a new form of communication to one’s consciousness. It stimulates our mind and gives it a sense of harmony and peace through the hardships that life poses for us. As a kid, I would always listen to music from any genre, deciding which genre would complement me the most as I grew older. In middle school, I remember going on the computer and finding a website/program where I could make my own beats. From that day on, I spent countless of hours each day making sure the tune sounded proper and pleasurable for my ears. At first, it wasn’t good, but eventua...
