An aspect of my learning style that causes me concern is that I am a perfectionist. I spend a great deal of time on an assignment to ensure that I am completely satisfied with it. For instance, I have spent a lot of time thinking about this short memo that shouldn’t take any more than an hour to write. Since I strive to make an A in every class I take, I do not have a lot of free time for enjoyment. I need to learn how to be a functional perfectionist that can find the balance between doing a great job and not spending too much time on an assignment. Another aspect that causes me concern is my impatience to fully read an assignment. Our generation has become accustomed to abridged information so we no longer want to read an assignment fully. I prefer bullet points that contain all the requirements for a task. This will be a problem in 1201 since there is a major focus on attention to detail. I am willing to organize projects, take notes for the group, and confirm that every member has completed their portion of the project. I am very involved in technology and know many useful tools that allow group members to communicate and work together without having to physically be in the same room. This will be very useful in ENGR 1201 since it is a summer course where my fellow interns will have other commitments to fit into their busy schedules. While I would make an excellent group leader, I would prefer to work alone. I feel more comfortable if I know that all the work being produced is at the same level of high quality. In 1201, this is an unrealistic goal since the class is on such a quick time schedule. It will be much less stressful to divide ten page design package between four people rather than try and do it
Normally in a group, the work will be divided into the number of members in the group and may be arranged to each of the members to receive the part where they are more confident and have more knowledge of it. In addition, if a member is confused with their work, he can receive assistance from his teammates rather than just being alone and figure it himself independently. However, I believe sometimes been in a group can have its cons. A common pitfall associated with working as a group is disagreement about the way something is being done, a particular issue, or an opinion. Sometimes one member might have his own beliefs and want to perform a task in their way and conflict can arise from this. Once conflict arises, the members can discuss their own opinions and might arrive to a solution, but this can cause a member to not show their full potential because something was not done the way they wanted. I used to have a very simple issue but never noticed until a teacher pointed it out. Intelligence is defined as the power of perceiving, learning, understanding, and knowing. It is the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills. (Oxford Dictionary). The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination. (Albert Einstein). The overview of learning styles is that each person has a different way of learning and techniques. Howard Gardner, an American developmental psychologist states that not only do human beings have several different ways of learning and processing information, but that these methods are relatively independent of one another. He identifies the theory of multiple intelligences namely visual-spatial, bodily-kinaesthetic, musical, intrapersonal, interpersonal, linguistic, logical -Mathematical. In consideration to Gardner's theory and Kolb's learning style to my very own learning experiences, I believe that interpersonal and diverging classes apply to the sort of learner am I.
Learning that having good time management skills has shown me that I can take my time and accomplish more. When relating this to school, I can honestly say that starting early is the best gift that I can give myself. As a full-time student with a family and a full-time job, my time is a limited resource (Britton & Tesser, 1991 pg.405). When I start early on an assignment, I don't have to rush and if I mess up, I can start over or seek help if necessary. My work schedule doesn’t always agree with my school schedule but for the most part, I try to have all of my school work completed by Thursday. As I'm approaching the last week in this class, I have began to look over the discussion posts first and then I look over the complete section to familiarize myself with the material before I even go to the read section (Chambers, 2015 pg.4). I found that to be especially helpful when I first began this class because the things that I already knew or felt like I knew, I went ahead and did it.
Methods like experiments, field trips or role play are rarely used. Because of that, labs and tutorials are more essential for these learners. Among the methods that can help these learners are by trying to use all the senses in the learning process because the more senses you use the higher recall will be, as you have many clues. In addition, make notes with several examples for each concept and use your own examples, the more personal examples you create, the better you remember. A very important thing to note is that this questionnaire is not designed to predict the ability of someone to make the diagnosis.
Learning styles are how individuals approach learning new concepts based on their strengths, weaknesses, and preferences. Acquiring and being aware of your learning styles is beneficial to accurately processing information that could be used for intellectual growth. Furthermore, learning styles are a part of how humans function and receive information from their world, so not being properly informed about this concept could bloom confusion, dysfunction, and chaos in society. Each learning style has a different goal and approach in interpreting information based on each individual’s abilities and should be regarded as being such. The two inventories I completed where the Learning Style Inventory and the Learning style inventory based upon Gardner Multiple Intelligences. In the learning style inventory I learned that I that I am an auditory learner, which means that it is important for me to tape lectures in order for me to get a better understanding of the material I learned. In the Learning style inventory based upon Gardner Multiple Intelligences I learn that I have interpersonal intelligences which means that I am good communicating with others and understanding how they are feelings.
“Please don’t make me work in a group!” is the first thing that enters my mind when an instructor announces a project. More often than not, I am distracted and irritated by my group members. Harsh, I know, but my experience has always been that one person, usually me, ends up doing most of the work. I like to be in control, but I do not like picking up others’ slack. I am also an introvert, and I think more clearly and purposefully when I understand the task but am permitted to sort things out on my own.

Each person has his or her own style of learning. Learning styles include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In the questionnaire, I learned that I am very much a visual learner. This reflection will show what I have learned about my unique learning style and how understanding learning styles of the children I teach will be helpful as I become a teacher.
Working together with other people for an assignment can be a challenging task in some cases but luckily, I worked well with my group members. The decisions we made were anonymous although we paced ourselves individually when it came to completing our separate parts of the essay. As a group I believe that we connected well on an interpersonal level as all four of us were able to make alterations to any problem together . Furthermore, we did not give each other a chance to get angry at one another as we knew that this would only cause conflict that would disrupt our flow as a group. There was an equal divide in the amount of work that we all did; our contributions were fair and no one was lacking behind. In addition, my group members were great at keeping each other informed if one of us were not able to attend a group meeting; emails were sent out informing us what we missed and ideas that were formulated. Everyone in my group worked according to deadlines and in synchronization with each other; we did not have to nag anyone to complete work or wait on a member to complete their task.
Everyone has different learning styles. Learning styles are important because they help you better understand materials in classes. They are there to guide you and become a better student. Learning styles help you better grasp the material and better process it through your brain. When learning you want to do what is most beneficial for you. That is why there is many different learning styles to suit every person. There is three different types of learning styles categorized. The first learning style is auditory. Auditory is meant for individuals that enjoy asking questions, talking and listening, as well as like to read out loud. Visual learners are more interested in charts, graphs, neat surroundings, seeing rather than hearing, and are pictured to be timid as they read to themselves rather than out loud. Finally there is the kinesthetic learning style. Kinesthetic is to touch, to feel, and usually learn by doing.
