Greetings! I am Kaeden. Allow me to introduce myself! I love to play sports, video games, and, in particular, I have a few favorite school subjects. More importantly, one goal I have set for myself would be to get exceptional and exceeding grades in school and eventually get accepted to a great college and proceed with an awesome job that I would like to do when I graduate college. All in all, I think that you already know that in this essay you will learn about me. I am part of a family of 5 people. My mother, father, and my two brothers. I have a family of 6 when including my dog. I love to play outside, especially baseball, soccer, and flag football. As you can tell, I am very athletic. I also love to play video games as another source of entertainment and having a good time with my family going on bike rides, playing ping-pong, or playing a board game with them. …show more content…
This is my main Learner Profile trait because I don’t give up easily on something that is difficult to do. I keep trying to solve the problem and when others give up, I go on to find the answer. My learning styles are both visual and kinesthetic. These are both my best learning styles because: (Visual) When I see something being done that I know I need to remember, my brain kind of scans the new information and keeps it in a file in the back of my brain. And when I must remember the information for a test, I can go to that file that’s in the back of my brain and open that file to retrieve the needed
Family defines people making them who they are. A person's family heritage, how their parents met and married, their parents’ occupations, their siblings, and their early lives play an important role in who they are and who they become. Every family is different and has different characteristics and members, but those differences are what make every family unique. Those differences combined with my family members’ experiences and the stories they have chosen to share are what makes this story exclusive to my family.
My name Ameenah Yamini, I am now 18 years old. I’m a senior at Frederick Douglass High School. I am the 12th child out of all my brother and sisters. It’s 7 girls and 5 boys, I know I have a big family. I used to live with both of my parents until my daddy died back in 2012, so now it’s just my mom and me. I used to have a job at Papa Johns in Dunwoody but I had to let it go because I have to focus on my school work. All i worry about is school, nothing else.
The third essay I wrote was a profile essay. The profile essay I wrote was about a particular relationship that was important to me and how this person had an aspect on my life. The person I wrote about was my mother Marie Dean. In the essay I talked about how she has shown me and my brother that with determination and perseverance, we can accomplish anything we put our minds to. Another thing I talked about was how hard-working, strong and intelligent Marie Dean is.
Learning is defined as a permanent change in attitude or behaviour that occurs as a result of repeated experience (Sims & Sims, 1995). Understanding one’s learning style has many advantages as it can help one to identify the learning method or activities that can help to optimise the learning experience. It has been suggested that the importance of one’s learning style has been identified through studies and research on how one can maximise the potential for success and further learning development (Honey & Mumford, 2006). Learning styles are unique to each individual and are developed in childhood (Chase, 2001). We all have different personalities; therefore we all have preferred learning styles that suit us best. The way one learns depends on preference. Some learn by observing, listening and imitating others and draw conclusions from their experience. There are several factors that affect our learning style; for example, background, culture, religion and environment can have a major influence on one’s learning.
My family consists of my mother, father, and myself. I was adopted at birth and was raised by a family member
Honey and Mumford say (Gallagher K., 2013, p. 23-24) that idyllically someone has a composed learning style, though some individuals have a robust preference for a particular style.
Why do we need to identify our learning style? All of us are human beings, each unique in our own way; we have our own way of learning, studying and succeeding. Helping one achieve success are tools such as identifying what one's learning style is. Learning styles are identifying tools that help one succeed when learning new skills, studying, or just living their day to day lives. There are three main types of learning styles tactile, auditory and visual.
To determine the best way I learn, I carried out two different learning styles questionnaires online. One may find that they are not always categorised in a specific type rather they may have more than one learning preference. Firstly, the most commonly used Neil Fleming’s VARK model. Fleming believes that there are four different types of learner: Visual, Auditory, Reading/writing and Kinesthetic learners. The second model I tried out was Soloman-Felder Learning Styles and Strategies.
“A learning style is a way of learning and refers to the way that you learn new information” (2). Most people have one preferred learning style and perform to a lesser standard when learning in a different style than what they’re used to. Nowadays, children are told to take a quiz in school to determine what their preferred learning style is, but after a few years, not many of these children remember what their preferred learning style is, or even if they do, they don’t apply it to their learning.
I have seven siblings, four brothers and three sisters. Even though we did not live in a pretty house, we lived very happily. Our childhood was very nice, because my mom and my dad always treated us with love and respect. And, in spite of my parents not having a high level of education, they always supported us in our education. In the past, the time with my family created a heritage to guide me.
Each person has his or her own style of learning. Learning styles include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In the questionnaire, I learned that I am very much a visual learner. This reflection will show what I have learned about my unique learning style and how understanding learning styles of the children I teach will be helpful as I become a teacher.
There are a total of seven people that makes up my whole family, including myself. I have one father, one mother, three brothers and one sister. I am the fourth child amongst my siblings.
In this highschool what I wish to accomplish is to finish what I started and learn some more languages because I'm actually interested in world culture. I also wish to improve my skills in algebra because I genuinely fail at that subject. Something else I've been looking forward to was to find a new hobby maybe join some extra curricular after school activites or somthing (School events, student organizations etc). But I'm still always willing to learn new things as usual, I don't find having an education, boring, it's actually something to look forward to. Something else I'd love to accomplish is to figure out what my future carrer would be because even though I had nearly all my life to think about it I literally don't know what I want to be, I think that going to highschool would help me decide my carrer choices.
Soccer, basketball, baseball, football. Whichever sport you name, my dad is spectacular at. He is extremely athletic. When he was younger, he played a lot of different sports. Now he teaches me how to play them too. For example, every year at school we would have to play soccer, football, and softball with our class, and my dad would always help me practice. We would go to the park for hours and just practice. I would always have a blast! Since I have him, I am a lot more interested in sports.
Thought out our lives, we are faced with many different learning experiences. Some of these experiences have made a better impact than others. This can be attributed to everyone’s different multiple intelligences or learning styles. A persons learning style is the method though which they gain information about their environment. As a teacher, it is our responsibility to know these styles, so we can reach each of our students and use all of the necessary methods.
