I have grown as a student in the area of academic skills. American Literature is a very difficult class, especially with Mrs. Mohr. This class is no joke, reading points matter, there is a lot of essays, and Mrs. Mohr expects a lot from you. I am a junior I have one more year of high school and then I will be headed to college. Honestly I am so scared because all my life I have grown and relied with Vaughn but in 1 year everything will be different, oh how I hate change. My job shadow letter is evidence of my growth. This project showed me I am getting older and I will have to decide what career I want to focus not to mention I will have more responsibility to handle. My top 3 job search where family law attorney, pediatric, and a homicide detective however I decided to stick with family law attorney. Searching up offices was easy, writing a letter seemed easy but it was actually really difficult. My letter did …show more content…
Before this semester in the science department I have only taken biology and environmental science. This year I am taking chemistry and must I say I enjoy this class so much, all the lab reports we do have been fun but my favorite has to be investigating the densities of different liquids. My lab report based on densities is an evidence of my growth. My partner and I both assume that if we pour all three different 10 mL graduated cylinder than it can fill up a 50 mL graduated cylinder and will we most likely get a reaction. However ours did not fill up a 50 mL graduated cylinder, it did not change colors, and there was no reaction. My partner and I didn’t know why it didn’t fill it up and we came in conclusion that we probably poured it wrong. However we were not the only group whose 50 mL graduated cylinder got filled up. I communicated with my classmates to see if they got any reaction during the lab report and I was just relieved that there was more people like me and my
The experiment was not a success, there was percent yield of 1,423%. With a percent yield that is relatively high at 1,423% did not conclude a successful experiment, because impurities added to the mass of the actual product. There were many errors in this lab due to the product being transferred on numerous occasions as well, as spillage and splattering of the solution. Overall, learning how to take one product and chemically create something else as well as how working with others effectively turned out to be a
Put the amount of 0.1M cobalt (II) chloride hexahydrate that fills the end of a spatula into a test tube. Then add 2mL of 95% ethanol. Tap the end of the test tube to mix the solution and record the pertinent data in section 1 of the Data Table. Discard the solution in the appropriate container as directed to you by your lab instructor.
Regarding the densities of Coke and Diet Coke, I believed that the density of coke would be greater than the density of Diet Coke. Because the content of Coke contains more sugar than Diet Coke, it would contain more mass and since density is mass dependent, Coke would be denser than Diet Coke. From the results of the experiment, there was a slight difference between the densities of Coke and Diet Coke. The measurements obtained from the pipette and the graduated cylinder demonstrated that Coke is denser than Diet Coke while Diet Coke was shown to be denser than Coke using the burette. With the pipette, the average density of Coke is 1.02 and the average density of Diet Coke is 0.99. With the graduated cylinder, the average density is 0.976968 and the average density of Diet Coke is 0.95. With the burette, the average density of Coke is 0.99 and the average density of Diet Coke is 1.0. Among the three instruments, the most precise was the graduated cylinder and the most accurate was the volumetric pipette. Since density is defined as mass/volume, changing the volume of Coke or Diet Coke would have changed.
As many people have told me before, it is a very different ballgame than middle school’s easy going years. There is much more work, the classes are harder, and the environment is completely different. Many people’s grades may slip and they may cower in fear at the barrage of assignments they receive class after class. Unlike other people, I am confident in my ability to excel at all classes and to sustain exemplary grades. Therefore, while many are trembling in fear at the prodigious assignments and work is bombarding them from all angles, I will be at ease, knowing that whatever obstacle is thrown my way, I will conquer it and be its own
Finding the Densities of an Unknown Solid and Liquid in Order to Determine What they Are
Now, I not only have a new found confidence in writing and in my life skills. Mrs.Cohen provided proper feedback and guidance with each assignment. Due to this, my writing confidence flourished. Without this course, not to mention the teacher, I would not even think about applying for dual enrollment. I certainly feel I have improved in English classes and my passion was rekindled. Mrs.Cohen made me find the enjoyment in writing again and inspired me to be myself. I wish to keep my work ethic, strong to become successful while being myself and I will be forever thankful for
Entering this course I was worried because I have struggled with writing in the past, and writing has never been my strongest area. I feared writing classes in middle and high school, and had the same expectations for this course. I had wondered if I was ready for college English, and was worried that my skills and abilities would not be one the level they needed to be for college courses. My attitude and understanding of my writing process have both changed since the beginning of this semester. One thing that really helped my attitude and confidence was the fact that I was able to complete the assignments and get a decent grade. I was worried that I might not be able to do college level writing, and when I started completing the assignments and learning new ways to write my confidence and attitude changed. Another thing that really helped me throughout this course was that there was plenty of reading and information available to guide me through my assignments. I realized that there was more freedom when it comes to writing than I had experienced in high school. Being able to write more freely, and the freedom to choose what subjects I would write over made the assignments more enjoyable and easier to
I am elated to celebrate Texas Independence Day by preparing my response to your call for the Project Director who will help make your beautiful dream a tangible reality, here in the heart of Texas. With broad and deep experience in bringing visions to life through my unique ability to direct the path of projects, I am confident that my record of delivering award-winning results will be well worth your time to review. After spending the last year patiently watching for a visionary project to appear that matches my own discerning criteria, I believe it has finally appeared in the form of the Pecan Street Project.
During my first semester of college, I felt like this course overshadowed all the others. I faced many challenges, gained better habits, and even increased the value of myself as a scholar. Not only did my professor provide her students with the course material she built a confidence inside of us that will allow us to be able to tackle any task, especially pertaining to any written compositions. The things that I have learned from this course could and will be applied to any and everything I do from here on out, whether that writing an essay or even taking a test. Again, the journey was long, but I will be forever grateful for the things that I, and all of my peers have gained from this
One thing that I learned from this course is to follow directions. In the first assignment, we were told to write a personal story of what shaped you as a whole. At first, I had a difficult time thinking of a topic to write about, but after viewing other students’ essays, I finally understand what the professor was asking for, and I came up with an idea of writing how I got my cats and wanted to become a veterinarian. Writing this type of essay was difficult because I am not good at expressing myself. Therefore, I always did a bad job in describing my feelings, my thoughts, and etc. Since English is my second language, I know I have a lot of mistakes with my writing. Thus, I went to the Writing Center to ask for professional help. The tutors are very nice and willing to give you academic advices. After going to the writing center, the essay turned out to be my favorite essay that I have even written. However, the assignment was not asking to tell the story, the main theme is to write what shaped you as a whole. As a result, I got a poor grade and realized that this college level course was not the same as a high school writing course. In high school, I was only satisfied in completing the essay and receiving an A. What really ...
== Refer to, Chemistry Lab #1 – What’s the substance? I didn’t change most materials when I did this experiment, but I added 4 materials, which are: * 5 test tubes * 2 stoppers * 1 large piece of paper And I deleted 1 material, which is: * Spatula Methods = == ==
Another problem with this experiment was determining at which stage the solution turned completely clear. I had a black piece of card, which I held behind the boiling tube to see when the solution turned clear, however this was not very efficient. I think that it would have been better if I had gotten a white piece of card and wrote a black letter on it, then looked through the solution until I could clearly see the letter.
This class was far more intense than what I expected but I was able to make it through the semester. I learned a lot from this class that I will carry into the future and use in other classes. All of the revision and feedback I have received during the time in the class helped me in the end. I feel like I am gradually becoming a better writer. I will take everything that I have learned in this class and use it for future reference when writing papers. I overall have enjoyed this class this semester.
The most important hurdle to overcome in the course was mainly myself and my old writing habits. Adjusting to the course is a goal that one needs to overcome post-haste, the more time it takes one to adjust, the worse your grade will be. A critical aspect of adjusting is the ability to change the writing requirements based on what class one is in. By figuring out the appropriate text to use in each class, it would help one adjust to the course faster. In my history class, writing is mainly facts piled on other facts with no set of techniques, while writing class involves a lot more critical thinking. I extremely enjoyed this course because I found that I can express my own personal views while maintaining the foundation of my papers.
Since beginning this class I have found myself doing more research, so I can make the best paper I can. The more research and knowledge I gain about the topic, the better my papers have been. Before I started this semester I did enough to get by with my papers. This class has changed the way I go about my papers. I have been proofreading my papers more than I usually do and actually thinking deeper about my papers. By the end of this class, I would like to be confident in my literacy skills. I would like to improve in every aspect of literacy and this will make my papers much better.
