Anniversary 12 Aug 1962. One year to the day, Anton and Josef disappeared around that alley corner. At high noon a loud commotion originated from the west. It didn’t matter where you were in the city or on which side; everyone could heard the clear exaggerated honking from automobile horns pressed hard in a synchronized protest of the wall. I still had not found Herr Brauner. His correspondence said something to the fact of his location being in --benstraße. It narrowed his location down to the partial name of a street, but it was still a broad search. Since his apartment number had also been smudged, I decided to blanket what I could with the little information I did have. So far nobody I had talked to even knew a family by the name of Brauner. …show more content…
I just want a better life. I know I can have a brighter future in the West.” I nodded, but his words seemed strange to me. Yes it was confining and smothering here, but if my family was here…if Anton and Josef were here, I could possibly be content. Helmut spoke first. “Peter and I work for the same company. We are rebuilding the former Kaiser-Wilhelm- Palais, a palace on the Unter den Linden, are you familiar with the area?” I was since it was in Mitte, but the other two were not. “We happened to come across a shabby building on Schützenstrauss and inside were the run down remains of a workshop.” Helmut leaned in and whispered, “The back windows lead straight to Zimmerstrasse and very close to the wall.” Peter added, “…and no signs of regular guard patrol either.” He looked around, “we walked in and out twice completely undetected.” “The windows weren’t bricked up?” I asked with surprise. “No, not at all.” Helmut confirmed. “Dogs? Lights? Do you know if the fence is electrified?” They looked at each other uncomfortably. I knew they had not even considered this. “So what does this mean?” I questioned cautiously. My previous experience was fresh on my

The Hero’s Journey is a basic template utilized by writers everywhere. Joseph Campbell, an American scholar, analyzed an abundance of myths and literature and decided that almost all of them followed a template that has around twelve steps. He would call these steps the Hero’s Journey. The steps to the Hero’s Journey are a hero is born into ordinary circumstances, call to adventure/action, refusal of call, a push to go on the journey, aid by mentor, a crossing of the threshold, the hero is tested, defeat of a villain, possible prize, hero goes home. The Hero’s Journey is more or less the same journey every time. It is a circular pattern used in stories or myths.

Joseph Campbell studied ancient greek mythology for many years. Joseph filled each stage of the journey very well. He accepted all the challenges he got and all the help he needed. He really knew how to fulfill all those stages. Like everyone goes through a heroic journey everyone has to have a story to tell. My story is very contrasty from Joseph’s because he really knew what all the stages meant. My hero's journey consists of my threshold crossing which was when I started depending on myself more than I did on others, my helpers/mentors like my parents, teachers,my sister and many more influential people in my life and my rewards were getting awards in school, having a nice family, and many friends.
“Success doesn’t happen overnight.” Apparently, the Germans did not get that memo. On the morning of August 13, 1961 police and soldiers in the city’s Soviet sector began temporarily crowding streets and fortifying alleyways with trucks, tanks, bricks, and barbed wire. In addition, the asphalt and cobblestones on the linking roads were torn up. Perplexed residents observed in distress as their own c...

Gunkel’s resources came in the form of a Lutheran rearing, a formal education and communication with some of the big wigs of scholarship. Gunkel received his educational background from the University of Halle, where he later became a professor. He then moved on to professorships in Berlin and Giessen. But, throughout the year Gunkel re...
Long time ago there was a family, King Jake, Queen Angelina, and the twins Dawn and Luna. A couple of days after they were born a half human half tarantula came by while the king and queen were having dinner and swiped Luna, when the queen arrived she was just in time o try to save Luna, but sadly she died because the monster threw her over the terrace and landed on a rock in the hard cold fog. When the king came in he was to late and saw Luna or Angelina weren’t there. He feared that the princess and their mother died. So, he removed everything about the queen and princess and put it in a dungeon and locked it away and made sure no one ever speaks of Luna or Angelina ever again and made sure no one tells Dawn she had a twin sister. 16 years later, Dawn was outside playing with her friends and Spark her fire breathing puppy. “
I'm getting taken from Africa separated from my family, just so we could be sold. I'm being forced to work for a white family. At only 12 I'm scared and alone, no one to help me or treat me right.
Dr. D is a cardiothoracic surgeon. He was my hero. He may well still be, even though he is a throw-back to the days when I was more concerned about science than symbolism.

The meeting in Leo Zuckermann's room is a discussion about Michael's interest in Adolf Hitler and leads to Leo's wish to read a copy of Michael's doctoral thesis. The other copy of the Meisterwerk Michael had given to Angus Alexander Hugh Fraser-Stuart (his professor) to read it. It turns out that Mr. Fraser-Stuart calls his thesis "garbage" and "insupportable" because it is partly written like a novel (in fact excerpts from the thesis are printed in the book Making History).
