There was once a hero that lived and was raised amongst us. He was known to a few since he kept his identity unknown and hidden from the public. This person devoted his life into fighting crime and saving our beloved “Sin City” from being controlled by evil. When the night drew near the unknown hero would appear from the darkness and fight the evil until dawn. We would always remember him for his bravery and courageous acts toward his people and city. As long as he stays in our heard the light would remain in this city and may dark times never reach this city again. 15 years ago……My name is Arrow and I am proud of doing what I do and serve for my cause. I always imagined being a superhero since I was a kid and doing unnatural acts with power …show more content…
One day at dawn I came upon a hero named Krypton who guarded his land for centuries since he was immortal. I asked him “May you join my task force”. He replied “in order for me to join you will have to face a challenge that will determine if your worth my time”. The challenge’s goal was to see if I had patience in me or not. He made me meditate in public for 7 hours in the constant noise. Well I passed the test but never in my life I ever focused that much into one thing. My journey continued with Krypton as my side partner and we sailed through the Pacific Ocean in which we came across many storms. We reached China, there we looked for a hero name Wang-Shu who had the power of controlling fire and water. After several days of searching we found him in a mountain named Himalaya. We gave him an invitation to join us for this cause but he rejected the offer since he could not trust us. We still kept on following him even though he ignored us but in the end he gave up and said “ok fine I will join you in only one condition if you can get me the finest sapphire in China also its located in the mountain you stand upon”. I thought to myself that this shouldn’t be difficult and of course I had to accept the challenge. Although I had my sonic boom power this task was more difficult than the other one I faced. I noticed there were many changes since I left. Spear controlled most of the gangs and now expanded his mafia bigger than I expected. Wang-Shu and Krypton were calm as usual and were enjoying seeing the skyscrapers they never saw before. Later that day I told them the plan that at dawn we will strike Spear and try not to kill anyone who follows him. When it was close to dawn we set off to his layer and spotted about 18 guards. There were everywhere near the door, the roof, the windows, and the balcony so we had to take them out fast and before we knew it they figured out there has been a breech. Using my sonic boom, Krypton using his strength, and Wang-Shu using his power of fire and water we all defeated the gang members except Spear who was the real challenge to defeat. Spear appeared and started to laugh more and more and his voice echoed in my ear louder and louder and gave me chills and thrills up to my spine. I started to get flashbacks of the night that my whole family was massacred in front of my bare eyes and how he laughed when his clothes were being stained by their blood. Then I came back to my senses and attacked him with all my strength but it was no use because Speer took out a device which temporarily prevented me from using my powers and also drained my strength. Speer came with a knife and stabbed be and I fell to the ground while putting pressure in my wound. Kripton and Wang-shu came for my help and
Aristotle, an ancient Greek philosopher and scientist, conveys, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom”. In other words, Aristotle states that the gaining of self-knowledge provides an individual with the ability to know one’s personal gifts and accountabilities. To start one’s adult life a person must pursue the journey of self-discovery to learn in depth about their skills and weaknesses. Individuals must find themselves through the limitations and ordeals that they face during their voyage for self-awareness. For example, in Tim O’Brien’s short story, “On the Rainy River”, the narrator shares his story about self-discovery. O’Brien looks back into his past, to the time when he was called to serve in the Vietnam War. O’Brien’s initial
As with most vigilantes, Arrow is ultimately a criminal. Although he is saving innocent lives and tries to keep corruption at bay, by doing so, he is still killing people. A series of flashbacks help the audience understand his passion for repairing his wealthy families wrongs. He gets shipwrecked alone on an island after he watches his father kill himself to save his own life.
A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended.” Behind all the action in The Dark Knight Rises is an important portrayal of crime and deviance in society. The superficial analysis of the plot makes The Dark Knight Rises seem like a simple hero and villain story, and nothing more. However, the film expresses concepts of justice and provides an important depiction of strain theory and the labeling theory.
In the genre of western films, the hero plays a key role. Humanity portrays civilization overcoming the hostile country (Miller 66). In many films the American civil war is over, and people have turned their attention to more constructive pursuits. Battling nature to progress America's future, rather than each other. In between this wild country, fraught with danger and corruption lies the role of the hero. A hero is an individual with exceptional skills and through his abilities is able to rid a stricken town of the corrupt elements within. In many cases however, the hero's skills are not enough. His relationship with the community can define how successful his help can be.
There are many stories that follow Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey, and tells the tale of a Heroic character. These fables introduces us to heroes that begin their journey in an ordinary place, then receive a call to enter an unknown world full of bizarre powers and peculiar events. These heroes often display great traits, such as bravery or intelligence, that defines their character. One of these heroic's tales is Haroun and the Sea of Stories, telling the adventures of a young man named Haroun. This essay will prove that Haroun from Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie is a hero, because he possess heroic qualities. Haroun shows his heroic qualities by overcoming obstacles, helping his friends, and having good intentions.
“The journey of the hero is about the courage to seek the depths; the image of creative rebirth; the eternal cycle of change within us; the uncanny discovery that the seeker is the mystery which the seeker seeks to know. The hero journey is a symbol that binds, in the original sense of the word, two distant ideas, and the spiritual quest of the ancients with the modern search for identity always the one, shape-shifting yet marvelously constant story that we find.” (Phil Cousineau) The Hero's Journey has been engaged in stories for an immemorial amount of time. These stories target typical connections that help us relate to ourselves as well as the “real world”.
I think José Angelico is the most heroic in the story TRASH by: Andy Mulligan why, José Angelico is the most heroic in the story because he is the one who first started trying to find the truth about the mayor stealing money from donations given to the city and the mayor is knows José Angelico is getting to close to the truth, the mayor tells the police to find and kill him, but José Angelico knows that the police are closing in on him so he starts to leave clues for people to find and finish what he has started but the police find him before he can finish and is taken to the police station, interrogated, and killed but the police through his black bag in the trash by accident with critical information in it then taken to a dump site where
He brought down many criminals with superpowers that were known as metahumans, but the bad things that he has brought outweigh the good. You have to also take into consideration that the Flash is much younger than the Arrow. The show “Arrow is telling a serialized story, driven by emotion, starring a diverse cast of characters, each of which has their own motivations and scars” (Bernardin). The Arrow has to actually engage in hand to hand combat but in most episodes of the Flash, Barry Allen either wins or gets trapped and there is not much combat. This shows that Barry can not be the superhero that he is without his powers but Arrow does not even need powers. You will change your mind about the Arrow after you watch the videos below. The fight scenes in Arrow are amazing and they look very real, as real as they could be. The way he fights is out of this
While fulfilling their journey, a hero must undergo a psychological change that involves experiencing a transformation from immaturity into independence and sophistication. Campbell states that these events are what ultimately guides a hero into completing their journey by, “leaving one condition and finding the source of life to bring you forth into a richer more mature condition” (Moyers 1). She first enters her journey when she learns about invisible strength from her mother, “I was six when my mother taught me the art of invisible strength. It was strategy for winning arguments, respect from others, and eventually, though neither of us knew it at the time, chess games”(Tan 89).
Although ordinary people, extraordinary people, and even those who are seemingly god-like all go through trials and tribulations pursuing wisdom, bravery, and legacy, the heroes amongst us may fall, but they will never be forgotten.
The series Arrow focuses on fighting crime in Starling City where you can go from the mansions to the Glades by just crossing town. The main character is Oliver Queen is also known as Arrow. His job starts off only getting rid of people on his deceased fathers hit list. However as the series continues he begins to help his city become a better place by stopping bank robbers and other crime. Oliver has the help of his two sidekicks Diggle and Felicity. They help him watch the city, learn about crimes, and plan how to take action. In Aeon Skoble’s article “Superhero Revisionism” the main focus is on philosophical complexity within superheros, “leads us to rethink our fundamentals moral ideas and our attitudes toward the concept of a superhero.” (34) Oliver wants justice by stopping criminals in his city, while Helena wants personal revenge on her father. Oliver tries to show Helena will only be happy with the result without hurting innocent people. Oliver is the human form of Skoble’s focus of getting justice for everyone “he has always been cautious and measured in his use of violence, he has refused to cross certain lines, and he has consistently interfered with only criminals.” (33) While Helena is exactly what Skoble tries to prove is the wrong way of living.
Joseph Campbell an archetypical writer of “The Hero’s Journey” describes the hero's journey as a series of heroic actions being portrayed in myths and a mixture of folktales. The battle is not alone itself however, it’s the battle to bought amongst for women being able to stand on their own. Campbell fails to consider how the element of point of view from how women tend to face challenges throughout the events version of events. But this story of the hero's journey shows that the pov character does not have to be the hero, in fact, the hero is the moral hero, having complete nightmares for others considered to be looked upon women as being slaves. In my opinion I believe that heroes such as Wonderwoman
There is another type of hero that almost no one is aware of. In the poorest areas of the country, live mostly minorities and other ethic background. All their lives they’ve been expected to work harder and expected not succeed in life. Some individuals living in poverty with a determination to succeed work hard all of their lives to become what everybody doubted they could. Escaping the crime, drugs, and prostitution is enough to escape hell, even if they don’t go to college. Despite of their financial problems, drug and crime surroundings, or difficulties in the language skills, their desire to triumph fuels their persistence. Those who make it to success are the few living examples of the purest form of hero anyone can be. They are not only their own heroes but also the heroes of the poor children who dream of becoming like them someday.
After a couple of minutes of frantically running around the mosque, I found him on the second floor with the two yellow belts. They were gaining up on him and trying to kick him and make him kick back. As soon as I saw the sight, I stepped in
OUCH! My leg crippled with pain. I tried to shuffle my way to the window, but it was excruciating. As my senses kicked back in, I felt pains shooting up and down my body. Peering down at my hands I screamed. My hands were covered in cold, congealed blood.
