One manga anime that presents an amazing underdog story is My Hero Academia. In My Hero Academia, the main character, Izuku Midoriya, is in a world where eighty percent of the population has super powers, or in the series term of “Quirks.” When Midoriya is a little kid he finds out that he was born “Quirk-less" meaning that he does not have any special powers like everyone else. This shatters Midoriya's dreams of “becoming the greatest hero.” Throughout his life he is bullied with little self-esteem and confidence to stand up for himself. One day, he meets his favorite superhero, All Might. This is when he tells All Might that even though he has no Quirk he still wants to be as great as him. After All Might finds out that Midoriya did a heroic act, he passes down his own Quirk, One-For-All, which grants the user with super strength to Midoriya. Unfortunately, because Midoriya is not as strong as All Might his power deals severe damage to his body if he is not too careful. Throughout the course of the series, Midoriya learns to adapt his newly gained ability and is able to overcome many odds that most characters in the series said he would never pass. This gives the viewer the care and passion to see if Midoriya will overcome the obstacles that he is faced with and makes him such a lovable protagonist because the viewer wants Midoriya to prove everyone wrong and show them that he can be just as good as them and sometimes even better. Presenting a main protagonist as someone who is weak at the start and is granted an astounding power that they have to gradually

Ghosts; figures that haunt and torment the living due to unfinished business. They have long been a part of society, and have frequently appeared in literature throughout the ages. In T.H. White's Once and Future King, fate plays a very important role in Arthur's life when he meets Merlyn and Merlyn becomes his mentor. When they first met, Arthur was confused as to why Merlyn was going all the way home with him until Merlyn said, "Why not? How else can I be your tutor?" (37) Arthur realizes he had been on a quest to find his tutor. This quote is important to the theme because it was Arthur's first quest on his journey towards king. This reason this quote is so important is because Merlyn is preparing Arthur to become a great leader. After all of Arthur's training with Merlyn, Merlyn tells Arthur that he might not know it yet but he will be, "Hic jacet Arthutus Rex quandum Rexque futurus... The Once and Future King." (287) This quote foreshadows that Arthur, will in fact, become the great leader. If it were not for training with Merlyn, he would not be the great leader he developed into throughout the book.
Imagine, every day a person struggles with controlling untypical behavior caused by some sort of psychiatric disorder. For many, this is not imaginative this is reality. The character Pat in the movie Silver Linings Playbook, is a great example of someone who struggles daily to control their untypical behavior. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder also known as OCD, is a disorder commonly misunderstood and can be misused in social context. Most people do not understand this disorder and most people use this disorder to discriminate against those struggling from it. I believe that Pat in this movie portrays a good example of an individual struggling with OCD.
I received a free copy of The Girl from Everywhere by … from Hot Key Books in exchange for an honest review, this has in no way influenced my thoughts and feelings about the book.

In Campbell’s A Hero With A Thousand Faces, the author explains all seventeen steps of the hero’s journey, and how many fictional characters achieves some of them throughout a transforming moment of their lives. However, he never spoke of the Journey in the non-fictional world. After reading and analyzing the life the Wright Brother’s I concluded that they also went through the same steps while inventing the first aeroplane, and that their invention shaped our culture for the better.
Different types of heroes are made by the circumstances they face and the challenges they overcome. In Unbroken, by Laura
The character(s) that I chose to diagnosis and treat are the Minions from Despicable Me. I would diagnose them with ADHD or “Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder” because they are extremely hyperactive, are constantly being distracted by random objects passing by, and had difficulty in properly carrying out Gru’s objectives because of their disposition to be distracted and wide-eyed at any little thing. In order to treat the minions’ ADHD, i would use behavior therapy which uses learning principles, such as classical and operant conditioning, to get rid of unwanted behavior and reinforced the desired behavior. Specifically, i would use progressive relaxation, despite the fact that it is used mostly to treat anxiety. Progressive relaxation
A similar example of a tragic hero is found in the Character of Okonkwo, main character of Things Fall Apart by China Achebe. Okonkwo never realized that the change in society is inevitable and the only true heroes are those willing to sacrifice all for the good of the community. In Okonkwo's self-driven quest to take charge and shape his village as he saw fit, often put the entire village in dire danger. His uncontrolled rage, which without a doubt he considers manly and therefore a positive, put the community at risk of offending their gods when he beat his second wife during a sacred time, then again by defying the power of the oracle to save his daughter shows his lack of heroism.
Superheroes have challenges dealing with their powers. Some challenges they face brings advantages and burdens. Just like today, Greek mythology has its heroes too with special abilities. Consider demigod Perseus, he set out for a mission on killing Medusa. He ran into many challenges and handled them all differently in a smart and clever way. King Midas wasn’t as fortunate in handling his situation of Apollo’s bestowed gift, the ability to turn everything he touches turn to gold. From his experience of his greediness taking over himself, Midas learned to forgive and to not jump into situations clueless. Perseus and Midas are two of my favorite Greek mythology stories because they both showed how people handle their abilities and situations differently, and how people can learn from their mistakes.
There is another type of hero that almost no one is aware of. In the poorest areas of the country, live mostly minorities and other ethic background. All their lives they’ve been expected to work harder and expected not succeed in life. Some individuals living in poverty with a determination to succeed work hard all of their lives to become what everybody doubted they could. Escaping the crime, drugs, and prostitution is enough to escape hell, even if they don’t go to college. Despite of their financial problems, drug and crime surroundings, or difficulties in the language skills, their desire to triumph fuels their persistence. Those who make it to success are the few living examples of the purest form of hero anyone can be. They are not only their own heroes but also the heroes of the poor children who dream of becoming like them someday.
