My grandmother has always been my biggest supporter throughout my life. My Grandmother is my back bone; she is the reason why I am the person that I am today. Most people hear the word grandmother and expect to see older lady with possible white hair, standing in the kitchen cooking and baking, evening sewing. My grandmother is the exact opposite of those things, she is still employed full time, enjoys making jewelry and furniture. Although she is only five two she is very witted and outspoken she never bites her tongue and will always give her opinion even if you don’t ask for it. There is a softer side to her, she will give you her last and be a listening ear day or night. Like the saying goes “to know me is to love me” and believe me …show more content…
She said, “I’m a grandmother, my love for you is just like having another daughter.” I realized that she was my biggest supporter and teaching me how to be independent was something she did from the bottom of her heart. She also felt that since my father wasn’t in my life that I deserved to have all the support from family. My mother is a single mom and my grandmother stepped up to the plate and helped where my mom fell short. I will always have the up-most respect for my grandmother because she went over and beyond for me. I felt as though my grandmother did everything out of love and not because she felt obligated to. She hasn’t missed a beat in my life, every school performance, dance recitals, and band performance my grandmother was there. I am forever grateful for everything that she has done and for things that she has yet to …show more content…

My relationship with my grandmother paved the way of my education, my faith, my success. Her understanding and unconditional love, as well as, faith in me along with my past experiences, helped shape my character today. I am currently a high school graduate, who was ranked number 4 in my class with a 3.79 G.P.A. Not to mention, on a full scholarship to college, and by the end of July have a total of eleven college credits before becoming an official freshman.
If it hadn’t been for her making me learn how to think and learn for myself, I wouldn’t be where I am today. There were many times during my high school days where I needed to be independent in my learning because there were teachers who didn’t teach the lesson properly. While other student were struggling with those teachers I was able to overcome that trial and succeed in those classes. I’ve been told all my life that college is way more independent when it comes to learning than any other time I your life. I believe because I learned at such a young age how to teach myself, I have a greater chance at succeeding than other who have not had the same
It is my opinion that Edna Pontellier from Kate Chopin’s 1899 novel The Awakening is cyclothymic. Though the novel only takes place over one year, it can be assumed that Edna’s symptoms have been occurring for more than two years because they are said to have been brought about visit with her friend, Adele Ratignolle, a fan of the notion of women’s liberation and a friend of Edna’s for years. ...ir hero and raised her kids to be successful in everything they do. She raised me to be the one to get things done in a timely manner and see that I am reliable and trustworthy. She raised my brother to be hands on and work hard and get the job done. She has been the strongest person to push my brother and I through school and pushes us on even more beyond school so our lives are not as hard as having to “break our backs” throughout our lives. Thanks to her, I will make sure that I do not have to work as hard as she did to get what little bit she had. I will make sure that I live a comfortable and successful life. She will always be my motivation and my support. My mother was the one to push me through school and to go to college. I could not ask for a better person to be in my life other than my own mother.
Grandmothers are always there when we need them most. They are kind, loving and wise from their long living experience in this world. The worst thing that could happen sadly is when it is time for them to leave this world later on in life before your very own death. From old age, sickness or get shot countless times in the body from a crazy serial killer, grandmothers tend to leave this world before you know it. For example from the world of literature, two grandmothers have from two very different stories has met their maker either they like it or not. One of the grannies is good old Granny Weatherall from the short story “The Jilting of Granny Weatherall” by Katherine Anne Porter and the other is the Grandmother from the short story “A Good Man is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor. Both the grandmother in “A Good Man is Hard to Find” and “The Jilting of Granny Weatherall” have to experience different lives, families and views of religion but soon experience death.
Throughout my life my mom has always been selfless and generous- especially when it came to her children and grandchildren… ever putting her self last! SHE WAS MY EVERYTHING… Unlike my sister, I was the one that gave my parents their grey hair… It took me longer than most to mature, and the truth is- that’s putting it mildly. Yet through all the ups and downs, and all the times I would end up disappointing her expectations of me, one thing NEVER
After he had sat with her, he got up and walked away to stand near the door. I sat in the chair next to her bed and the first thing I did was grab her hand, I dropped my head down because I knew our time was coming close to being done, what no one understands is how much of an impact she had on my life. There may have been an 83 year age difference between her and I, but she was my mentor, my story teller, my care provider, she gave me the best advice, she cooked the best food, she was the one I always aimed to make proud, but most of all she was my best friend. “It’s okay to cry, sweetie” said my dad. I didn’t want to cry though, that’s not what grandma would have wanted, but I couldn’t help it, I started to cry a little. How was my dad not crying yet? How could he stay so strong, he was much closer to her than I was, but somehow he managed to stay strong throughout all of it. I sat by her for probably 15 minutes holding her hand, I stood up, hugged her, whispered into her ear “I love you great grandma and I’ll see you when I get there”, I kissed her cheek and turned to leave the room. My dad was standing behind me and I walked into his arms and started crying, I couldn’t handle knowing that this could be the last time that I
She had also shown me how it felt to lose someone you love; it was my first family member that passed away. There was never a devastated or mad time after her passing; it's strange, but she helped me know that saying goodbye was not necessarily a bad thing. At her funeral my sister and I drew her so many pictures to put in her casket so we could make her happy since she was going away. It pushed me to continue to push through obstacles and try my best so she would be proud of me.
She is a multi-talented women with determination and believes if you set your mind your goal there isn't anything that you can't achieve. My grandma wasn't able to be somebody that gave a lot of influence and didn't meet some of her goals, I am proud of her intelligence and how much she was able to do independently. Even as a grandma she loves to learn and presently is learning English. She is almost eighty years old and she looks like she is only sixty. Even now as a grandma, she is active and passionate about education. She encourages me to get a
Having someone in your life that you consider special is a wondering feeling. And when this person has played so many different roles throughout my life it’s a magnificent feeling for her to feel so accomplished and so admired. When I think back to everything I’ve done I can’t look over the fact that the reason I did it is because she made me the fantastic person I am. I’m glad she passed all the things on to me and I hope I can do the same to next generations. The traditions that we have created are known throughout my entire family and I’m glad that we were both a part of them. She is an extraordinary person and I look forward to all the great memories I still have left with her to create. My Grandma is with out a doubt the most influential person in my life and I’m so grateful for her presence.
First of all, Gran is not a typical grandma. Devoted to stay involved in life, she cannot just sit around her house all day and do nothing. She supports every one of her grandchildren immensely. Throughout her four grandchildren, she attends every single football, basketball, softball, golf, and baseball game. Also, not to mention other events such as swim meets and dance recitals. Anytime her grandchildren are performing, she is always there in the stands cheering for them. At every single one of my brother’s basketball games you will hear her yell, “GO TYLER! YEAH, MAKE THAT SHOT!” Without a doubt, Gran is over achieving the role of being a grandmother.
This lady is the most wonderful person I 've ever met. She is old, affectionate, and intelligent. It took me eighteen years to realize how much this extraordinary person influenced my life. She 's the type of person who charms everyone with her stories and experiences. She always time for her family and friends. She is the kind of leader who does everything to keep her family together and in harmony. She is my grandmother.
My great grandmother, Mama, cared for all her children including her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren all the same. She allowed anyone to stay in her home when needed and loaned money even when she did not have the funds to support herself. Even as a young child my great great grandmother was older but held a great part in raising me. I never received any form of structured learning such as daycare or pre-kindergarten because I loved being in her company and did not want to separate from her.
My aunt had been an important person in my life since I was born. She helped me a lot through rough times and always was there if I needed anything. I could always remember the big family parties we had and she would give me money for a present. She was always nice to me and was a big part in my success at anything I was doing. I even used to call her 2nd mom sometimes.
