Economics/Goals Essay Everybody has a goal that they wish to accomplish. Whether it be losing a few pounds or becoming the next President of the United States, every individual has an objective that they hope to achieve. In order to get to that point, a person must take a step backward and plan out how they will reach their target. Like an economist would, they need to consider all possible obstacles, benefits, and consequences of their available choices. In my case, I have quite a few decisions to make concerning my future and to ensure I choose the smartest option I will have to carefully contemplate every plausible barrier and how I can overcome them. In ten months time, I hope to have graduated high school. However, senioritis could get the best of me and I could fail to earn the credits required for graduation. A measure I can take to prevent this …show more content…
Another goal that I have set is to get accepted into San Jose State University, though there is always a possibility that I will not be admitted into the school. To better my chances of being accepted, I will complete the requirements and work toward acquiring extra community service as well as participating in more clubs and extracurriculars. A more materialistic goal I have for the next ten months is to purchase a new car, but I cannot do that if I do not have enough money. Something I can do so that I will be able to afford a new car is to open a savings account and place money into it whenever I can, that way I can avoid the temptation to spend. A more personal goal I have is to be more social and open to the idea of making new friends. This will be difficult because I have a hard time
Whether hoping for drastic, life-altering changes, or minimal day-to-day changes, the means of planning and obtaining a better future have frequently been aspirations of humans in order to achieve a better lifestyle for themselves or for their loved ones. While some dreams can be achieved through simple steps and changes, many dreams often come with great risks. Setting organizational goals is not a task which should be taken lightly by managers. The result of an intentionally and methodically formed goal verses that of a randomly selected goal are polar opposite to one another. A correctly formulated goal will both increase organizational functioning as well as obtain the desired outcome (Kelly, 2011, p. 92). Additionally, correct goals will minimize manager’s exposure to latent errors which consequently will benefit patient safety (Kelly, 2011, p. 91). One proven tool for establishing organizational goals is through the use of the SMART goal system.
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
My project was about me coaching a U8 girls soccer team. My goal was to have every player on the team learn how to play soccer and be able to play every position on the field by the end of the season. I coached my players by teaching and mentoring them so that they could advance in necessary skills needed to play soccer which were dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork. I chose this as my project because my greatest passion in life is playing soccer. I spend around 15 hours a week practicing and playing soccer. So when I decided to choose a project based on my personal interests, soccer was my first choice. I also love to help out others and the community so I spent a lot of time researching ways to influence my community as well as spend time playing soccer. I finally decided to work with my community’s local recreation center and I was assigned a team of young kids to coach.
1. Personal/Family- I have many goals, but one would be to overcome my shyness and be able to talk in front of a group of people, without letting my nerves get the best of me. How I plan to obtain that goal is to just practice talking in front of others. For example right now I am taking public speaking, so therefore I am getting some practice. A goal with family, is just I always want to have a close family, because it seems rare this day in time. How I want to obtain that goal is to always be there for my family and always be a good supporter when people have problems.
The next set of goal setting importance is my personal goals with the first being to over come the obstacles associated with returning to school.
As a child, I had always imagined myself being a Professional Soccer Player. I played soccer every day either in parks, on the grass or turf, with friends in the street or on any concrete floor where I could kick the ball and work on my dribbling and passing skills. I found myself forfeiting my food funds to buy a game ticket. My favorite team while growing up is Arsenal F.C, it’s a team located in North London which is highly recognized by their unique and fascinating style of play. Growing up in Nigeria makes my dream to become a soccer player a little difficult, because there are not a lot platform that promotes young athletes achieve their dream. Don’t think about your goals mentally, instead write them down on a piece of paper (visuals are better). Also take note of where you see yourself in three months, one year, and three years from now financially. Figure out what your available income is each month, such as the amount you take-home. Don’t include any overtime pay.
Research a life goal Although I have many goals in life, these two stick out to me the most. They stick out in every decision I make and they help me make good decisions. What I want most in life is to become a pharmacist and to create a family with someone I love. I want the family most importantly because I was raised in a very tight Greek family.

I have always wanted to make good grades but I never really set any goals but, then I realized that setting academic goals are way more important than people realize . I then started to set goals like my sophomore year of high school after I did that it really helped me focus on my future and what I wanted for myself. My goals I think pushed me so much more academically they opened my eyes a little bit more. One Goal I set was to graduate High school with a Core 40 diploma, which I did, so that is one goal down and a bunch more to go. My senior year I started applying to college but my main goal was to make into Saint Mary-of-the Woods and when I received my acceptance letter I was ecstatic. Someone once asked me what I believed in, what I wanted to get out of life and where I saw myself a couple of years from now…I was speechless, just standing there with a blank look upon my face, guess I looked like a deer in the headlights. At first I was outraged for not knowing what to say, and then I became concerned. Looking back I can say that I was afraid, afraid of wanting anything. I figured wanting would lead to trying and trying would lead to failure, and failure is not an option. A friend once told me I was much better than I thought I was, and he would help me do more in a positive sense, he was the one that helped me realize failure was something I shouldn’t be afraid of.
