Goals and Achievements
In the process of creating my vision board in the beginning of the semester, I kept my goals in life as well as the semester’s in sight. This semester was an important clean slate for me, because I struggled with my grades at the beginning. I really wanted to lay out what were the main goals and expectations for not only schoolwork but in all aspects of my school involvement. Most of the aspirations and goals on my vision board were well thought out and ideas I intended to accomplish. Although all of the shown goals were not met, I am extremely content with how a majority of them turned out.
One of my primary goals for the semester was to have fun. Before I started health, I honestly remember thinking it was just an easy passing class, but as soon as I got there, the fun-loving atmosphere really showed me what health class had the potential to be. I came home almost every day and had a riveting debate with my mom about the new topics in health. We constantly engaged in adult conversations about teen habits at the dinner table. I felt engaged and interested in what we were learning all the time, and it wasn’t a task to do the homework because I enjoyed. Fun is definitely a word to describe this semester's health class.

Because of my no-multitasking schedule and productive advances, I was able to attain the sufficient amounts of sleep that health taught me to have. The style of annotation Mrs. Lighty instituted in her class was very helpful in other classes. Evidently annotations helped me to thoroughly understand my notes as well as find specific points easily. It made me feel really ecstatic to know my productivity levels and efficiency increased greatly over this
Many times people think they can accomplish more if they could eliminate so much sleeping time. However, they are only hurting their productivity if they lose sleep. Two articles deal with the issue of sleep deprivation. The College Student Journal published an article about the grade-point average of college students and sleep length, while U.S. News & World Report produced an article dealing with the lack of
My physical health is the dimension I’ve chosen that requires a beneficial change. Within this dimension, changing my sleeping habits is my main goal. According to Hershner and Chervin (2014), irregular sleep patterns and sleepiness have a negative impact on a student’s performance, memory, and on their ability to learn
Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...
Over the course of this class I have pieced together many things about my own life that before went unnoticed. I am now able to see things in a bit of a different light. Now that I have been introduced to the realm of psychology I understand some of the reasons for behavior around me. I have learned that there is a reason for most everything and a lot of our behaviors and mental processes can be explained through psychology. Studies have been conducted for many years to try and pinpoint the source of our behavior and it is not something that most people think about every day. Having a better understanding of why we operate the way we do will help me to better understand myself and the others around me.
My goals for this year is to do really well in math,I struggle a lot in math and I really want to excel in it. I’m going to measure my progress in graded assignments and tests. I will also ask my teachers for feedback on how i'm doing and how i can improve. To meet these goals I’m going to take extra notes. I’m going to focus much more,I am going to ask more questions to my teacher. My goal is important to the others because my grades now will help me get into a good high school. And if i keep at it these good grades will help me get to college and help me become a part of the FBI. My goal will be complete when i have no more than 1 basic in
The goals I set for myself are plenty. There are goals that I am very passionate about. For one, I took a public speaking course this spring semester and loved it. In the letter I wrote that by the end of it I wanted to become someone who could take risks and be a confident individual. Slowly but surely I’m growing into that person. There was a lot of things I wrote that made me realize how upset I was with the person I used to be. I told myself not to be influenced by the media and to make choices for myself. Something that this class taught me to further accomplish. The ways in which my critical thinking has changed is by
In addition to taking this course, I have learned a lot about my personal health. The act of writing this essay has helped me see the work I have been doing to change my life. Also, taking this course has helped me understand that we must take care of ourselves physically and mentally while we age to live a happier life.

Looking at these actions reassures my priorities and also plays a key role in accountability. Consequently, when it comes to preparing a semester and graduation plan, I need to make goals that are challenging, but realistic. I will create these plans with an open and optimistic mindset. Also, since I am aware of how easy it is to drift off, I can pay closer attentions to the plans I create. For a semester plan, I can focus on present goals and occurrences, and what distractions may come about, so the details are manageable and beneficial. Accordingly, in the broad spectrum, my graduation plan will still be detailed, but also open to any
Today’s class was very beneficial because we got to collaborate with our colleagues. Being able to use the curriculum document and create learning objectives was very useful. At my practicum placement, I am also teaching lessons and planning for them. An activity like this is relevant to my practicum placement, but will also help my teaching. For example, when writing your learning goals, I learned you could write “upon completion of this lesson students should be able to”. This is an excellent way to list the learning objectives for the lesson. In today’s class, my memory was refreshed about Blooms Taxonomy, which I learned in both my science and ELL class. However, todays class allowed me to understand it and apply it specifically in math.
A person needs to achieve certain goals in one's life before you can call them successful. Success is to achieve goals, you have set. I have set certain goals I would like to achieve in my lifetime. The concept that we discussed throughout the semester that was most surprising to me was that of meditation. Coming into this class, I had a biased view of meditation. As a senior in high school, one of my teachers used to make us meditate every Friday for an hour during her class. As seniors, stressed about college applications and lack of sleep, we all thought that this was the perfect opportunity to take a nap during the school day. From my experiences with meditation in that class, I really didn’t believe that meditation was helpful in any way or served a purpose. After taking this class, however, I now understand that meditation is more than just sitting in one position for long periods of time.
As a leader it is important to have a vision and a goal, but it is even more crucial to have followers who trust in your vision and goals. Trust is developed by displaying positive energy and attitude. Having a goal and a vision helps an organization move into the future. Without a goal or a vision an organization is going nowhere. It is bound to fail. The six steps of goal setting are vision, goals, objective, tasks, timeliness, and follow-up. Creating a mental picture of how the organization will look like in the future is the vision. When an organization has a vision, it is looking for change, growth, and improvement for the future. This vision of the future is challenging the present processes at an organization. This challenge is the first step in the process of great leadership. Leadership starts with a vision. Even Thomas Edison had a vision, a theory that gave us the light bulb. When setting goals, it is important to make sure that they are realistic, attainable, improving the organization, and having as many people involved as possible. Goal difficulty, goal spe...

According to dictionary.com, a goal is defined as the result or achievement toward which effort is directed. I have two main goals in life. My first goal is to complete college with a GPA above 3.0; my second goal is to utilize my degree and obtain a career that will support a family and myself. My goals are not impossible, but without certain motivation I do not believe that I could achieve my goals. In order to understand how motivation works with the two goals that I have for myself, I must first understand the different types of motives.
