My future with 1’s and 0’s
Recently I realized that computer programing is the job for me. Completing programs that can carry out things has always given me a feeling that I am doing the right thing. I plan to go to college to become certified in programing. To learn more on computer programing i will conduct library research, Interview Jeremy Taylor, and shadow Jason Ganos. By learning more about being a Computer programmer through research, an interview, and a shadow day, I will reassure that this is the right career for me.
Section I: Library Research
Computer programmers are people who create software that allows computers to do what they do, without computer programmers a computer would be worthless, it would not be able to do anything.“ computer programmers write code to create software programs.”(US Dept. of Labor 214). These programs make the computer run, a computer would not even show the startup screen without a program. Computer programmers are told by their employers what they want the program to be able to do and the programmers make it happen. “They turn the program designs created by the software developers and engineers into instructions that a computer can follow.”(214) Game companies will tell the coders what they want the game to look like, what they want it to be able to do, and how to control it. Then the programmers start to work on such a game. They write in many languages, but not like english or spanish. they write in specialized languages like C++ or Java that then gets compiled into 1’s and 0’s so that the computer can understand, a computer only has two switches, on and off, so the 1’s and the 0’s were chos...

I was first introduced to the real world CS and programming languages in Grade 9. I learned Java for 4 years and watching my code execute correctly was always delightful. And that is when I decided that I wanted to pursue CS. At UCI, I learned Python in my first year and currently I am learning C++. Some assignments have really blown me away as I was able to connect the dots between different concepts and produce results. To get exposed to CS, I job shadowed a Web Developer and a Director of Operation. To gain new skills, I did a research project in areas of crowdsourcing where I learned Django and applied my knowledge in creating a website with other teammates using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I worked on IoT and Augmented Reality as a summer intern. I am currently working on Augmented Reality as an intern, this quarter. I believe that learning and applying are different things and unless you are able to develop or progress by applying your knowledge you won’t know if you have indeed trodden the path of mastering it. I am grateful to have several opportunities to help me grow and advance in CS.
Ultimately, this class helped me gauge and find a suitable career path, which will forever shape my future. Self-Exploration Over the course of this semester, I have learned a tremendous amount of information about myself from the self-exploration series. The results of my Personal Globe Inventory (PGI) presented me with a couple of different career paths to explore. The first type of career that brought to my attention was an enterprising career.

Getting to know what goes inside computers, the engines of the Information Technology revolution, and knowing how to work with them enables one to understand the technology that makes it all possible. Understanding this, I chose to do my undergraduate study in Electronics and Communications engineering.
Many things have lead up to my decision to choose a career in Information Systems. It started at my first semester at my local community college. I was enrolled in their graphic design program and most of the classes I was taking consisted of art classes. My first computer class was working in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. They are graphic programs that many graphic designerÕs use to make their design work. While working with these programs I was very intrigued by the power of computers and how they work. While going to school at the local community college I soon got a job at CitiMortgage working at the computer help desk. I was learning more about computers and networking which helped lead to my decision to change my degree of study to information systems.
