If someone had told me that my first assignment in Pre-Ap English would involve pencil crayons I would have laughed in their face, but I must admit that I have thoroughly enjoyed the the process of creating my personal mandala. Beginning to look at my mandala from the inside out, it is clear that grey is the prominent colour. I chose to display a great amount of grey at the center of my mandala because to me it represents my family life, which is an important part of who I am not only as a person but as a student. In my family education has been the highest priority since the first day of preschool. Both of my parents have been teachers in different ways; my mom used to be a high school English teacher, and my dad who is a retired military …show more content…
Their passionately belief in education being the key to bettering oneself has driven me since I was five years old to pursue learning in all areas of my life. The consistent talk of school and learning has grown my love of it, as well as made me take great pride in my work. This leads into my next colour, yellow. The colour yellow is spread all over my mandala as well as in the middle showing how it is important in all aspects of my life. Whether it be a school project, a job, or an SLC task I always take pride and try to produce a 100% effort. Another value I placed close to the center was purple which shows creativity. Ever since I read Harry Potter at age 8 I have felt drawn to creative aspects of writing such as stories. I also show my creativity in my school projects where I like to make my work look as unique as possible. The colours blue and green show up equally on my mandala, representing how I like to be timely with my work (I have never had a late assignment), as well as how I like to take a risk and learn new
For instance , when Joy asked her classmates why they were copying eachother, she said “For me drawing is dreaming on paper. ‘ (5) to describe that drawing on paper is her favorite way to express all of her thoughts on paper . The audience for writing project one: summary and response will be my classmates and my instructor, Avon Waters. I am writing this for English 111 – an online Ivy Tech college course. This is the first writing project of four for semester one. The assignment is to select a core reading resource from the group listed and perform a summary and response style paper, using proper APA formatting and introducing the concept of a situation analysis. The core reading piece I have selected is one that personally interested me, as it deals heavily with history and facts versus opinions and controversy. This will be in APA format, as with every other paper written in this course. My goal with this paper is to offer additional insight into the piece I
Plato once said: “Honesty is for the most part less profitable than dishonesty.” People are taught from a very young age never to lie or keep secrets. It would be easy for anyone to stand behind the argument: “Honesty is the best policy,” but in times of personal anguish, that decree is quickly disdained. What this argument fails to consider is that keeping a secret or lying is the justifiable in times of crisis.
English 101 is one of the most common college courses in the world. When I enrolled in the class, I was bothered that I would have spend forty hours in a freshman writing class; along with at least another forty hours throughout the semester writing for the class. What surprised me, was that when I began writing my essays I was not annoyed or bothered; I actually enjoyed the assignments. Most importantly, throughout the course of the semester, I have become a better writer and have ultimately met the course goals of English 101.
As we look back on intellectual movements throughout history, it can be seen that the perceptions of nature changed drastically. The Enlightenment and Romantic movements are not separate from this observation; in fact they are prime examples, seeing as that in both eras nature is a major theme and exploration point for the people of the time. This interest in nature, however, is where the majority of similarities end between the two movements. In order to fully understand the differences in ideals between the two movements, we must focus on the disciplines they study most, the themes created when they are studied, and the way humanity is compared to nature.
John Steinbeck and Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK Jr.) have both gone down in American literature as some of the most influential authors, but why? Steinbeck was an influential author throughout the 20th century with pieces in many genres. On the flip side is Martin Luther King, Jr., a civil rights leader in the fight against racial discrimination. In order to gain a deeper understanding of the style of these two authors, it is necessary to compare them on the bases of repetition, tone, and purpose.
Throughout this semester we have had to write many types of essays. Although this is a college English class there is still room for improvement. I made much improvement during the semester of the class. I was able to identify my weaknesses. I learned how to make improvements to the areas I was having problems in. Although each essay we did was different I was able to begin with one essay and throughout the semester turn it into two other essays. I was able to change my style of writing to fit the type of audience I was working with. I will continue to work on my writing and keep improving it.
Peter was my student of focus during observations. He is in a first grade class at the St. Eugene School in Yonkers, New York. Although I do not know the implications of Peter’s IEP due to confidentiality, the cooperating teacher did inform that Peter does have an IEP. After observing Peter’s classroom for almost three full days, I attempted to build an understanding of his performance and engagement in specific areas of reading and language arts. I observed Peter’s writing, reading, listening, and speaking skills.
Is hell other people? Yes! Society always judges you, and if you really care about how others look at you or what they say about you, then, for you, hell is other people. However, if you are a stranger, a type of people always stay in their own “world”, everything happened in our real world is not affect them, they doesn’t really care anything, those type of people have no feeling for anything, if you are like them don’t really care about others opinions, then nothing will get in the way of your happiness. How other people look at you matters, but it is just a reference. If you do make it the only thing that matters, then your life will become hell.
I am Kierra Strickland, I am 22 years old. I was born in Laurel, Ms but raised in Moselle, Ms. I am the eldest child of 3 and I am a new mom to a princess named Kyla McKenzie. My entire life hood has been wonderful. However, I must say this past year has been the absolute best. Honestly, my daughter has been the reason for my abundant amount of joy. Being a mother really made reevaluate my life and change for a better life. I am still collecting pieces to add to my life story. As of now, I have several things that could represent or symbolize how my life has been so far. I would have to say I symbolize my life as a heart, zebra, purple, and then I live my life through the scripture from Philippians 4:13 “ I can do all things through Christ
Now I chose to add compassion to my Mandala because to me in my universe, having compassion is very important to have because in this age and day, we are losing compassion for each other and instead only care for themselves, and without compassion we lose one of the basic elements that make us human. Moreover, I also included enjoyment to my Mandala, and to signify enjoyment I drew the symbol of the movie Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and I drew it because to me watching movies is what I enjoy to do and because one of my favorite movies so far is Batman v Superman. Now I chose to include enjoyment in my Mandala because in my universe I also enjoy myself and have a little fun, and it shows how I am more of a laid back kind of person. Additionally, I added courage in my Mandala, and to signify that I drew a lion, for a lion is usually associated with might, respect and majesty, and I chose the lion because it conveys the message without having to really explain in

Creativity and imagination are undoubtedly at the top of the life. This trait is helpful as when doing projects in class and beyond that require creativity, I feel right at home. Recently in English class, we had to complete a project on allusions and their specific meanings. I found this to be quite intriguing because I was able to decorate the project and made it personal to me. This will help me in maintaining independence because when I get to college or eventually enter the workforce, I will more than likely have to do certain projects which require my creativity. Additionally, I enjoy creating art, learning more about it, and to make things that I feel express who I am as a person. Last year, I finally got to be in an actual art class; moreover, I got to create art about what I wanted and not do it for something or someone else. I know that this will help me in life, because if I’m doing something for me and not for someone else, I will feel more passionate about it which will help further my
How do colors depict lifestyles? I use colors in every part of life. Color is described as a property that surfaces have when light falls on them and is reflected or absorbed. Colors are the basic way that I describe my life. The colors blue, silver, and gold represent a favorite color, an event and or extracurricular activity, and the future that will be committed to after high school.
The time to breathe before advancing further in my future projects, the difficult moments instead of discouraging me, these moments give me motivation and the necessary energy to move forward. I am optimist but realistic. My parents taught me that we live in a world that is constantly changing and to succeed we need a smart plan and the ability to adapt and adjust to the changing world environment but more importantly one need to prepare one’s self to succeed. We need discipline and above all an unshakable will to resist difficulties when they happen. “An ongoing work of art” would probably be one of the best ways to describe my life. From very early on in life, I have learn that I can be the artist of my own life through guidance and hard work, I learned that we are the architecture of our life, the artist of our own destiny through work, commitment and determination. Every route taken or not taken will somehow impact our existence and leave a trail like a shooting star in the night sky, the beauty of the trail depends entirely on the nature of our actions in life. This is the first time in my existence I have had the opportunity to write the story of my life in detail. This exercise
