Have you ever been beaten down by your own confidence? It is supposed to help you succeed, but instead, it once made me blinded from the fact that I am not perfect. There is always a chance of failure if I don’t try my best. In fact, I did fail getting into my dream high school. It was in 2010, when I was still in Vietnam, and coming up was a very hard Transitional Exam from Secondary School to High School, which included a three-part exam: Math, English, and Literature, that all ninth graders, including myself, were very frustrated about. It was the key to open the door to a student’s dream. Because the better the high school you got into, the better education you would get, and the better preparation you would have to increase your chance to get into a great college. For that reason, every student needed to study for the exam with their best efforts. Instead of studying for the Literature exam alone, I had my very best friend, Trang, who was one of the best writers in my class, to study with. She helped me in reviewing the materials and showed me all her best tips in writing a go...
As many people have told me before, it is a very different ballgame than middle school’s easy going years. There is much more work, the classes are harder, and the environment is completely different. Many people’s grades may slip and they may cower in fear at the barrage of assignments they receive class after class. Unlike other people, I am confident in my ability to excel at all classes and to sustain exemplary grades. Therefore, while many are trembling in fear at the prodigious assignments and work is bombarding them from all angles, I will be at ease, knowing that whatever obstacle is thrown my way, I will conquer it and be its own
Everyone strives to be the greatest, especially teenagers in school, failing can be upsetting when it comes to failing a class or grade. Failure in school can have a huge impact on a student's future. When students aim for a goal it's either accurate or precise depending on their mindset.
He was a man full of integrity, sincerity, and character; who changed the lives of many by providing them homes, jobs, and of course the satisfaction from eating a scrumptious creamy milk chocolate bar (Erdman). He is well-known for not only “The Hershey Chocolate Company”, but his own “town of Hershey” (“Milton Hershey” 144). As a philanthropist, entrepreneur, and giver; Milton Hershey created his own American Dream through many failures and perseverance.
Failure leads to disappointments but sometimes it can result in great lessons and successes. People can go through hard times, but if they stick it out and see it through, the failures and hard times can lead to success. This happened to me recently involving soccer. It was our second game of the high school season, and we were playing Northeastern. I had started the game and after the national anthem and the announcing of our names, the game whistle had blown, singling the start of the game. The first half went by slow it seemed to never end. With the end of the first half we were tied 0-0. The halftime talk was not very positive, understandably, considering we weren't playing well. Then the whistles blew again and we took the field to start
I concluded my 8th grade year with 9 a's and 5 b's, contrarily my 9th grade report card included 5 f's and 3 d's. "Your mistakes do not define who you are, you are your possibilities." - Oprah Winfrey. This quote reflects my high school journey because though I've made innumerable mistakes throughout high school thus far, and continue to make mistakes by not prioritizing my education, I refuse to give up and I will not let my mistakes make me.
The fear of failure is a frequent battle found within me. Often, because of this fear I struggle with self-belief, so much so that I hesitate to pursue something I desire the first time opportunity arises. Usually, I need to steadily muster up enough courage before seeking it.Consequently in some instances it is already too late. Fear of failure impedes my progression and in turn I lose sight of my aspirations. In the novel The Alchemist, the Alchemist tells Santiago during his final task, when he is asked to turn himself into the wind that nothing is impossible: "There is only one thing that makes dreams impossible to achieve: The fear of failure" (141). I find I am able to relate to Santiago in this situation due to my athletic history. Whenever, I try-out for a team I always feel anxious and nervous. "What if I am not good enough?" or "What if I do not make it?" are two questions I ask myself every time. I question my abilities and skills and everything that I have accomplished thus far is no longer comforting. I then convince myself that failure is inevitable and therefore do not bring fo...
When I think about my past experiences of when I failed many scenarios come to mind. Us as humans beings are bound to fail at one point in life but its how you learn from them that makes it a fundamental. I came to a realization that all my past failures have played a huge role in my life, all of which have been either a lesson or an eye opener. The most vital scenario is when I failed to make the grade point average (GPA) required by my school to run track my first year entering high school. This event played a major role in my high school life.
Throughout the years, I hardly believed in my capabilities in school and in achieving my ambitions. You see I am not one of those cool kids who blatantly don’t want to do anything, in fact, I was worse. When opportunities decides to knock on my doorstep, I simply decline hoping that luck doesn’t go my way. It is because I was afraid to change my status which I was already comfortable with my life. Now that I am more educated I’m seeing a different point of view, a different view of living, which is achieving great things in life and surpassing anything that may come my way. In my path towards a higher education I have passed obstacles such as injury, problems with self-esteem, and transportation.
Being Marefat's first graduating class to complete all four years, one can say we've acquired a higher level of school wisdom than any previous class. We've formed traditions, we've set records, and we've made a lot of friends along the way. I remember our freshman year when we could use the excuse of being a new school for every shortcoming we encountered. I remember our sophomore year, the last time I cleaned my bedroom, when Marefat had its first senior class, and the school seemed to shrink for some reason. Last year we were the juniors, and we conquered the SAT tests: And made it through those busy days where you hadn't quite found room in your schedule to pencil in a bathroom break, dinner or sleep. Well, this year we were the kings and queens, there was Star Wars, Starbucks, and a certain football team lost its winning streak to the mighty Knights. Looking back we can see our accomplishments and the marks we made. Now, we must take all that we have learned in our years at Marefat and apply it to our future. Just as we have set traditions here, we must enter the world ready to tackle new problems and work out new solutions. We are the ones who can break all of those records that have been set, and have our names etched in history. It's our turn -- the world is ours and we just have to decide what we want to do with it.
Failure is apart of life, it can make or break a person. When a person experiences a type of failure it is now up to them to see how they respond. They can choose the high road, and become a stronger person for it. Then they can choose the low road, the easy way out. The easy way out is never a good choice. It can lead only to destruction. The high road is the right choice to take when responding to failure. It will lead down a path of success. Jessica Lahey’s article, “When Success Leads to Failure” is an article that shows how kids are experiencing failure. Lahey says that, “these kids have a fear for failure, and that they have given up natural loves for learning. They are scared of not being successful”(Lahey). The truth is life is hard there will be failure. There is nothing in this world that comes easy to anyone.
Everyone in life experiences failure. It can affect people positively or negatively and that all depends on how they react to the experience. If one lets their failure overcome their dreams, it will lead them in the wrong path. But if one views their failures as a motive to succeed and grow, then they are on their way to becoming successful. For me, I let my failures in life help build onto my character and define the person I am today. My childhood injury is my example as I let this moment affect the outcome of my dreams I had then.
Success is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. What does is success mean to you? One might compare success to financial gain. This is not always true everyone lives their lives in different ways and have beliefs that define their life. In my opinion to have a successful life you must do something you love, cannot be afraid to fail, and ultimately must be a hard worker.
Failure happens when something isn't successful. Failure is a thing that all people can learn from. Failures can be used as lessons so that the failure will not be repeated again. One of my greatest failures in life that I've experienced and learned from would be from the time of my first grade year. I didn’t take school seriously when I was in the first grade and made terrible grades. After this failure, it made change the outlook on school and I started trying. I learned that I need to take school serious or else I will do bad in school. This failure lead to success in school and I started making good grades which will help later on in life.
More is learned from failure than from success. Kids need to experience failure because, it helps them work harder for what they want to achieve life, failure helps them become stronger in real life problems, failure also can teach kids to be thoughtful winners and respectable losers and to never take winning for granted. Winning and losing in sports is very important as well, If you don’t have a winner and a loser in a game the loser will never know what they are doing wrong and how to fix it.
“The failure is the mother of success” this Chinese quote said that failure is not the end. Failure is where people learn from their mistake. People cannot be successful all the time. Indeed, there are many people who learned from their failures before being successful. Each failure that people had met is a helpful lesson and valuable experience to help them become a better person.
