Studying experience in the United States
Have you ever had any experience studying in other countries? Most students would like to study in their own country, but I had a chance to visit the United States and decided to study abroad to start my own journey. I would like to share the two reasons why I study in another country and the experience I had.
I decided to study in the United States for two reasons. Firstly, I had a chance to visit the United States when I graduated from junior high school in 2013. I came to the United States with a group of people in a summer camp during the summer. It was my first time to go to another unfamiliar country and I was so excited and felt nervous. We arrived at Newark Liberty International Airport on August

The airplane left China; I did not feel excited like the first time I came to America. I started to feel nervous when the airplane was flying in the sky. I felt tired and fell asleep in my tiny spot. I started to close my eyes and it was cozy and comfortable. After I arrived at the St. Louis airport, it was midnight. One of English program’s teachers came to pick me up. It was not a rainy day, but it reminded me the first day I came to the United States two years ago. I started to study at Greenville College in Illinois for one year. At the beginning of the year, I could not speak fluent English. However, after I studied for a few months I started to understand some conversations. Also I like to play basketball, so when I had free time I always went to the court. When I played I also made some good friends. They were nice to me and we always have a lot of funs. After one year, I transferred to Indiana Wesleyan University and it is bigger school than Greenville College. I saw that different races of people were studying and living together. After I went to chapel regularly for one semester, I started to learn something about Christianity. My grandparents and parents believe in Buddhism, so I loosely follow Buddhism. I could feel the difference between the two religions and how important it is to love other people. And it is very interesting for me to interact with different people and cultures from all over the
Many of the people I know, after they graduated from high school they move to another country because they are going to study in college. I did that, after I graduated from high school in Caracas- Venezuela I moved to Miami- Florida to fulfill my dream of completed a career and be a professional. All countries have things that are in similar and different. Two places I have lived are Caracas and Miami, both countries have different laws, education systems and the similarity is the security.
Most people I knew were surprised by this choice. Mostly, everyone who comes to study, stays back. I could not bring myself to stay back because I realized that I simply did not belong in America. As much as I had enjoyed staying there, I wanted to go back home, and there was only one place in the world I thought of as home; India.
Studying abroad is a dream for many people especially, who live in a country that has lacks education. It is possible that a dream realized for those who they want. However, it has many consequences, causing lack of livelihood to adapt to the different languages and cultures. Eva Hoffman, author of “Lost in Translation” wrote about her experience when she moved from Poland to Canada as a teenager. She felt as a “felt persona” when she merged with Canadians with different culture and language. Also, she felt as a woman who has two different figures, causing a lack of acclimatization. My own experience is similar Hoffman’s experience but, the most different thing that made me a little comfortable is trying to convince myself that
If I were able to travel to anywhere in this world without worrying about expenses, I would travel to New Orleans; a Louisiana city that is located on the Mississippi River and is in close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico. New Orleans has a number of things to provide as to why I would travel there, but I only picked my main three that I mostly want to do. The first reason is for the unique and diverse culture New Orleans has to offer. The other two reasons are for the history and to witness the creepy side of New Orleans that it is most famous and known for.
I came to the United States with my family in 1997, after we survived a violent robbery. My parents wanted me and my sisters to grow up in a safe environment where we could thrive and have a promising future. When I started college at Florida Atlantic University my interest in medicine intensified, and I was delighted to pursue a major in biology on the pre-medical track. Over my college years the connections between science and its clinical applications became clear, and my determination to become a physician grew stronger.
Everyone has dream in life. Some people have a dream to visit different places and some people want to become successful in future. Likewise I also had a dream to come USA and to become successful in future. I was 17 when I came here with my parents. I heard a lot from my friends about their first day in USA. They said it was so sad however mine was the best day and the long day in my life which I can’t ever forget. I still remember that day in USA; I was sleeping in the airplane because I was so tired of traveling 18 hours flight. I was in a deep sleep suddenly I heard someone was calling my name because of that I wake up. It was my mom who was calling me. She told me to look outside I rub my eyes and looked outside. I still remember that moment when I first looked California, USA through plane window, those tall building which I saw in movies looks like a plane ground. I was so excited to be here in USA I feel like it is a piece of heaven.
In the fourth grade my class took a field trip to Peru State College. I can remember being mesmerized by surroundings during the trip. At 9 years old I was ready to go to college. I’ve known since then that college was my best opportunity. I’ve been working towards going to college ever since.
I am an exchange student in America right now. I came to America not really knowing what I wanted to do in the future and also trying to figure out who I actually am. Throughout my exchange year I had to go through a lot of ups and downs. Let's just say it wasn't really the ideal experience I had hoped for. Now you are probably asking yourself why I want to stay here for another year and even for college? During my year here in America I have grown up. I am much more mature and responsible than I was ten months ago when I was still living in Germany. Going through all these struggles with my first host family and my first two schools in Antioch, without my family or friends being here, actually helped me to mature. Even though sometimes being
The idea of coming to the United States was always in the back of my mind because of parents being there and me living in Mexico City. With me being in Mexico City I had less or about the same opportunities that I have here but with the fact that in Mexico my opportunities were so much challenging due to transportation and money. Coming to the United States not knowing the language and knowing that I had to adapt and familiarized myself with the country was a challenge for me.
III. Students should study abroad due to its many benefits including personal growth, intercultural development, and education attainment.
Although , i came from a really harsh background and we didn’t have much money i knew i didn’t want to be a statistic. i knew i wanted to be successful so i had to make a tramatic change. i had to focus and i knew going to a college in newark nj i wouldn’t be able to focus. i knew everyone there and every other day someone was being killed. so i decided to save up my money from my job and attend a school where i knew i would be able to focus and accomplish my goal without any
My field experience was at Clearwater Elementary School in my hometown of Piedmont, Missouri. My observations took place in a third grade classroom with an excellent teacher, Sheri Rainwater, and great students. Clearwater follows a curriculum that helps children develop skills and build on knowledge that is necessary to become successful in the future. During my time at Clearwater, I learned more about young children and the teaching profession. This experience opened my eyes to the reality of teaching, and got me even more excited about entering the field of education.
Throughout life you meet many different people and encounter many different personalities. This at first confused me because sometimes due to this people cannot understand or respect each other's opinions and feelings, but after realizing that there are so many people with different ideals all over the world I realized how close minded my views were. I can even use my home country as an example. As a child I was raised to believe that there is equal opportunity but learned eventually this is not the case in America due to things such as institutionalized racism. Nothing is perfect but there are some things in the world that could be helped or prevented and people often fail to take notice of these problems. Things such as water shortages, energy pollution, and dwindling fossil fuels often fall behind things like what clothes someone famous is wearing. Everyone may not be socially aware of what is going on around them but, I think that people who support my views would agree with me when I say the people who are worried about these kind of problems have to be prepared to think of some kind of solution to these problems. They have to work harder to actually help with these problems and they need the work ethic and selflessness to put themselves aside and do it for the

Less than 10% of American college students study abroad as stated by the Elmhurst college. Students who have studied abroad say It was well worth it and it helped them personally develop and had greater job opportunities because of it. College students should be required to study abroad because it will further advance themselves for the real world today.
