When you are six years old, you do not have much say in what you do and where you go. This was especially the case when my parents decided to take a group of high school seniors to Johnson Bible College for a preview weekend. There was no question that my little sister and I would be tagging along. Honestly, I do not remember much of the journey down there or what all we did. But I did fall head over heels in love with the Johnson campus. I knew that was where I wanted to be. A few years later, my parents still being the full time youth ministers at my church, we packed the camper up and headed to Wonder Valley Christian camp to work a senior week. It was that week that I really started to learn more about Johnson. At ten years old, I was so excited to hear about the campus and classes from the visiting camp team that was there. I could really tell that God was …show more content…
I was not the valedictorian. I was not even close. But I did, and still do, continue to challenge myself and pursue knowledge eagerly and willingly (Often times with a lot of prayer and coffee). I graduated high school in the top ten percent of my class and 22 hours of college credits. I was actively involved in a wide range of activities and groups and tried to model the life of Jesus in all that I did. That is not to say I am a perfect Christian. Nothing could be more farther from the truth. Going to a public school is not easy. I had my faith and morals challenged numerous times. During my higher level classes my senior year I was really challenged to dig deep and discover what was really at my core. To be perfectly honest, it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I was challenged daily in group discussions, essays, and various debates both in and out of the classroom. For the first time I had to think for myself, formulating my own opinions and trying to figure out where my faith fit in to all of
Mary I have grown academically. Students come to school and learn so much. We learn skills and lessons that prepare us not only for high school or college but for the rest of our lives. We learn all these things from our teachers. Our teachers care about each one of us and want us to do well. They work very hard so that we can have the education we do. They also strive to be good role models for their students. They set a good example and teach us good values. We are taught how to treat people with love and respect. What's so amazing is that not only are we taught these values but you can see the students acting on these values everyday. For example, when we went to the Camp Duncan retreat we participated in some activities that taught us some about what it means to be Christian and how we should build each other up instead of tearing people down. After these activities you could see everyone being really nice to eachother, people talking to people they usually don’t, and just using what we had learned that day. It’s so amazing to see all the ways God works in our
Overall I didn’t really have the great of an experience and that was the reason why I went back to my family’s house, and was able to continue my education at a Christian school; such as Azusa pacific University which I love. I love the fact that I am also learning more about God, and having a wonderful people that are getting to know more about God as well. My overall experience made me more grateful to be where I am today and to be able to focus more on my life being around my family.
In chapter 1, Holmes explains the difference between attending college receiving higher education with emphasis on social life, and having an education that goes accompanied with vocational goals. Holmes mentions that nowadays the student goes to college in order to get a career no matter the environment. He also mentions that the new generations are losing the interest of bringing an education as a goal for their lives.
Having just finished this long and arduous tome. Written by Doug Fields entitled “your first two years in youth ministry. I personally do not feel that I could have started out my educational journey into
I was told that being recognized by the school board was a great accomplishment for the school; it enabled the school to receive more funding for repairs, and clubs, etcetera. Competing was not only amazing for myself, but it helped those around me as well, and I couldn’t have asked for a better senior year. Russell Mark once said, “Competing at the highest level is the greatest test of one's character.” That being said, I do agree with his quote; people do show that there is a different side of themselves when
Johnson, I gave all my time and energy into becoming a better student, and a better person. My freshman year, I finished with over a 4.0 GPA. This set the trend for me throughout my high school career. My junior year, I was accepted into National Honors Society, which was for not only my grades but my community service and my leadership qualities that I had displayed in high school thus far. I am very grateful that I had a teacher who would be honest with me and make me realize what I needed to do in order to be
In the essay, “The Second Great Awakening” by Sean Wilentz explains the simultaneous events at the Cane Ridge and Yale which their inequality was one-sided origins, worship, and social surroundings exceeded more through their connections that was called The Second Great Awakening also these revivals were omen that lasted in the 1840s a movement that influences the impulsive and doctrines to hold any management. Wilentz wraps up of the politics and the evangelizing that come from proceeding from the start, but had astounding momentum during 1825.The advantage of the Americans was churched as the evangelizing Methodists or Baptists from the South called the New School revivalist and the Presbyterians or Congregationalists from the North that had a nation of theoretical Christians in a mutual culture created more of the Enlightenment rationalism than the Protestant nation on the world. The northerners focused more on the Second Great Awakening than the South on the main plan of the organization.
For my field experience activity I choose to go and visit the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall in Cumming, Georgia. I choose this particular location because not only did it represent a religious sector that I was very uninformed of, but this specific building is one that has been there for almost 15 years now and I would say I have driven by it without paying it any mind just about 5-6 times a week for several years. The Kingdom Hall is made entirely out of red brick. The Kingdom Hall building is a simple setup. They have a general meeting area with about 150 seats inside and a podium for speaking purposes. They have a couple of additional rooms for storage purposes and multipurpose areas like a kitchen and other open areas for different things.
In a survey conducted in 2012, LifeWay.com inquired about the importance of evangelism among members of the Christian faith. The results of the survey showed that 80 percent of people who claimed to follow Jesus Christ and had openly devoted themselves to the teaching of Christianity, felt that they had a “personal responsibility to share their religious views and beliefs about Jesus Christ with non-christians” (Wilke, LifeWay.com). Surveys such as this reflect the Christian doctrine of evangelism and the weight it holds within the Christian faith. As can be seen back in the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus Christ commanded His followers “to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19).” However, Jesus never told His followers how doing this.
Destiny can be generally regarded as predestined. The experience of studying in America, attending Christian school, serving others as well as Christianity study was parts of God's plan, which I believe was what God meant for me.
It's been great attending County Christian School. Where else do students walk into school at 7:55 and receive a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie? Then, after third period, Mr. Obrastoff combs our hair and sings to us. It really has been a delightful place to go to school.
...mester, until the day I graduated, I gave my all. I enjoyed going to school. I made sure that everything that I started, that it was finished, and on time. I made sure everything was done right. My parents and teachers were surprised. When the day came for grades to be given my name was found among those on the honor roll.
Paul writes 1 Timothy with instruction to Timothy, a young man who responded to Christ’s call to help build His church. Timothy was one of the apostle Paul’s special assistants.
For as long as I can remember, I have been attending the Immanuel Lutheran Church. As I was growing up, my mom was big on attending church every Sunday. If we would miss a service or we would be gone, she would make up for it! My mom would grab the children’s Bible and activity book and we would have our own Sunday school lesson. I loved listening to my mom read my favorite Bible stories. If we were on vacation, we would attend our relatives’ churches. Attending church from child years to teen years and then on to adult years has been very important. The stories that I got to listen to were wonderful, but the lessons I learned were absolutely incredible. The people and the lessons can teach a person a lot about who he or she is and who he or she can be. It helped me find who I am and who I want to become as an adult. There are important reasons why we choose to attend church as a family. There are also many effects that come from the great experience. Attending church since I was little helped me become the strong, absolute person I am today.
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). As Christians we are given the duty of preaching God’s Word to all and to extend the knowledge of salvation to the expansions of the Earth. We are taught to be pure examples and to avoid and rebuke all forms of evil. Knowing this to be our calling, how to stories fit into this picture? I believe that stories play an important role in our role as Christians in the following ways: to communicate the Gospel, to rebuke evil, and to enjoy God’s creation. However, although stores are an important aspect of the Faith, they come with a warning and a few challenges to overcome. They can be useful if used correctly, but they have the potential to lead to sin.
