Family traditions
If in fact you think your family’s the weirdest well you’re wrong. My family doesn’t care what time, day, month, week or year it is when they feel like doing it they’ll do it. Some families have annual traditions some crazy some sensible and some just plain ordinary, we have wacky traditions but that’s not all. When we have family outings we have crazy things done, whether it is getting our nails painted or having are hair braided nothing (to us) is too crazy. With that being said I’ll end off with this. Every year someone either has a broken arm, bruised eye or a chipped tooth because of what we do on a weekly basis. We do the weirdest things sometimes. My family is probably one of the craziest because of what we do every week.
We have annual traditions that unlike others we have to jump in water. The swim race is probably the coldest thing we done to date. It requires us to swim across the lake with and ice pack taped to our abdomen. The when we get out we run a half a mile with an ice brick in each hand that weighs about 1 pound each. When we get to the finish line we have to slide our way to the warm zone. I have had a great amount of dives that end horribly but when we do the high dive off a cliff in the desert in the middle of the night yeah it might just break your legs. Let’s just begin with we were doing three sixty’s but when I opened my legs I think I died when I hit the water. We then have a blind run where yes you guessed it we run with a blindfold. We thought would be a good idea until we had run into a patch of cactuses. So let us just say we haven’t figured this one out yet. After we were done with blind run we thought we could have a competition that can last forever. That’s where the floater c...

...e a challenge to see who can Parkour. It then becomes who can Parkour on icy objects. Sometimes we actually could make a montage because we get so lucky. It also means we break arms more often than usual. More times than often I have a scar or a bruise in my right eye.
It begins to trouble me that my family never pictures the word safe when comes to my family. It also means that my family is pretty cool. It never occurs to me but they have a whole new system of tradition going down. Like I said my family is probably one of the craziest because of what we do every week. It doesn’t matter whether we run around blind, or slip on freezing water, maybe even running with a cylinder on your foot it’s all about the family time. Now-a-days we never get that. So if you or your friends have a sketchy idea go for it because they’re not as bad as the family traditions we have.
Lynne met an Egyptian swimmer, and he explained what to expect in the English Channel, especially the cold. She got used to the cold by wearing only sandals, shorts, and t-shirts all day. When she got to England, she needed to find a pilot to help guide her through the waters. Her pilot, recommended that she swim from England to France. During the race, at 11pm, she bumped into bunch of lettuce and she fight against the current. She was determined to break the world record. To finish the race, she had to land on the rocks. When she did, she had lots of cuts from the rocks and mussels. She broke the record with 9 hours and 57 minutes. When she swam Cook Strait, she was a bit stubborn and angry at her dad and coach, but she finished the race. She was the first to swim the Strait of Magellan, Bering Strait, and Cape of Good Hope. It was hard for Lynne to swim the Strait of Magellan because they occurred a few problems. She could barely stay in the cold water for two hours, the storms didn’t help out the situation, and when she almost made it to the shore, the whirlpool almost dragged her in. She got help out of the water and felt accomplished. When she was swimming the Cape of Good Hope, she almost got eaten by a shark. During her
After this the men will find themselves doing hours of calisthenics to warm up, only to go back in the cold water for a few more hours. This is a very effective way to teach a potential Seal to mentally resist the effects of hypothermia,...
Prisoners were subject to freezing experiments as scientists looked for an effective treatment for hypothermia. Scientists also wanted to discover how long German pilots downed by enemy fire could survive the frozen waters of the North Sea. Some were forced in a tank of ice water at sub-zero temperatures for up to five hours. Others were left outside to freeze in the winter cold. Numerous victims lost consciousness and died when their body temperature dropped to 25 degrees Celsius. It was also found that humans could not survive immersion in the North Sea for more than two hours. By studying the effects of this cold exposure and meticulously noting the changes in the subject’s body temperature, heart rate, and muscle response...
Forty hands shot up pointing towards the bottom of the old twisty slide following the long dreadful whistle no one ever wants to hear. Two other lifeguards and I jumped up off the shaded break bench and rushed towards the scene with the heavy backboard and AED bag in hand. The routine save played like a movie through my head as I arrived. I stopped. I knew from there on out this wasn't going to be emotionally an easy save. It wasn't a child who swallowed too much water or an adult who got nervous because they forgot how to swim, it was a fellow lifeguard, a friend.
It is just a fun time to be with friends to see who is the best that day. There is about five places around Garner that there are sweet jumps to show off on and see who the best of the best is a lot of times I take the win that's if my brother Tucker is not home if he is home he will kick everyone's butt. One time Tucker and I were out messing around and I was trying to splash him and at the same time I thought I should jump but I didn’t. My leg was off the running broad and I landed on it and I thought I broke my leg but I just sprained it.
The Bible provides no guidelines that explain how Christmas should be observed, nor does it even suggest that it should be considered a religious holiday. Because of the lack of biblical instructions, Christmas rituals have been shaped by the religious and popular traditions of each culture that celebrates the holiday.

In the article “Swimming for Her Life” by Kristin Lewis the main character is Yusra and Syria (her sister). She loved swimming, she has a dream to be the Olympics, and she will never accept fait. They had to flee because they were attacked and knew if they stayed they might get attacked again. The main character problem that she face trying to flee was that the motor stop and her and her sister had to push the boat for 3.5 hours saving 18 lives, and they had to be careful for the authorities. What happened to the main character is that 20 minutes in the ride the motor stopped and they had to jump in the cold water and push the boat for 3.5 hours muscles were aching. They survived by swimming and pushing the boat and saved 18 lives. One of the

There are an estimated 8,000 deaths per year in the United States from drowning. Near-drowning occurs anywhere from 2-20 times more frequently (for estimated 16,000-160,000 events per year)7. The definitions for drowning and near-drowning have for the longest time been very confusing to understand. Recent health officials have attempted to resolve some of this confusion by redefining drowning as “the process of experiencing respiratory insufficiency or difficulty following a submersion or immersion in a body of liquid.” Near-drowning has also been redefined as “survival from a drowning event which involved impaired consciousness or water inhalation for 24 hours or more”2. Both near drowning and near-drowning occur when someone experiences a submersion event. A submersion event is when someone, in this case a pediatric patient, experiences an unexpected submersion in water. When an unexpected submersion, regardless of water type (salt or fresh) occurs, the individual experiences breath hold, panic, and a struggle to resurface1. Humans, naturally, can only hold their breath for a short period of time. This prolonged breath hold results in hypoxia and eventually leads to involuntary gasping. As the individual attempts to gasp for air they sometimes aspirate7. This paper will attempt to look at the clinical presentation of a near-drowning patient who has suffered from a submersion event.
Several forces play significant roles in the movement of the human body through the water. The forces are drag, lift, gravity and buoyancy. Lift and drag are the main propulsive forces that are used by swimmers. Resistance, known as drag, can be broken into three main categories: frontal resistance, skin friction, and eddy resistance. The effect of buoyancy in swimming is best described by Archimedes’ principle: a body fully or partially submerged in a fluid is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid that is displaced by the body.1 This effectively negates any effects that gravity might have on a swimmer. The rare exception to this is a swimmer with very little body fat, and this is overcome by keeping the lungs inflated to a certain degree at all times.
On the contrary, “Prevalence and Risk Factors of Musculoskeletal Injuries in Parkour” does not make use of pathos, but it has basically no visible influence on the piece. The article preserves neutral and objective tone and uses professional language to convey the point. There is no place for appeal to emotions, but it is compensated by the other strategies used by the authors, which are more suitable for such type of writing.
In news stories the world over there are cases of pets and occasionally humans that have fallen into icy lakes and been submerged for up to and over an hour. Often the human or pet will perish due to the cold temperature of the water but in some cases are pulled free and are resuscitated; surviving their ordeal and being effectively ‘restored’ from what is considered by normal standards certain death. The idea that conscious beings could survive such trauma is that the icy water lowers body temperature and places it into a state of suspended animation, slowing metabolism and brain function to levels where they require very little or no oxygen at all.
This presentation was incredibly moving. I will admit that I was not agreeing with what she had to say at the beginning of the video. Spanking is something that is normal in my family. I did not look at spanking as child abuse. Consequences were normal when I was growing up. Those consequences usual involved spanking. I was once told that spanking builds character. My parents taught me that spanking would be required when I became a parent. Spanking was the way to gain respect from your kids. When I became a parent I could hear my parents voices in my head. If I did not spank my son, then he would not respect me. The few times I did spank my son it did not sit right with me. Being a young mother I did not know of any other way to discipline
When it comes to family rituals and trying to define what it means, you will come up with numerous answers. Here are six aspects that one can think of when it comes to family rituals. The first thing you can examine is the repetition of the family rituals. Not just the act of doing the activity but how the activity is formed. The next is acting out the ritual. You can also think about how behavior is set apart and can be a form of their usual common uses. The fourth way you can examine family rituals is by having order, the beginning, and an end. The fifth and sixth way to examine family rituals is about style and social meaning or giving it a collective dimension (Viere, 2001).
